techno-fashion
20th century is an epoch of technology, should technology user still be seen as some geeks from the lab,or Arnold Schwarzenegger in The Terminator?
The Aim is to added aesthetic to technology product, as to seek for thefashion that will stay eternal with technology.
IMAGE BOARDS
are to go through what does it feels like, to be in the sector of technology, and fashion.

After analysing the image boards of technology and fashion, a conclusion has been made, both two factors
“
COOLNESS” and “STATICNESS” can perfectly interprete the feeling of

ALIGN The connection of bold lines create mild sparks that sips through the tiny gap of wood. Soften the environment which shines from within.
SKETCHING
At first i start with how the structure of the lamp looks like from aside. The shift of the lines should be looks crispy in side view.
I decided to add cylinder pivot joint on the lamp. Freedom on product is an important aspect. Imagine a lamp that you can not turn it whenever you like.
Front view of the lamp determine the stability of it. My aim is to create a lamp that looks unstable with only bold lines supporting its body, but it is still stable enough to withstand impact.
Yet i decided to remove the cylinder mechanism to give a feeling of “less but better. Leave only the structure below to support the weight of the lamp, and the structure above to provide light.
PROTOTYPING
Materials are prepared for low-fidelity prototyping. Prototyping is done in my projects to determine these 3 important aspects 1. Proper Size 2. Ratio 3. Details
First I use this 2 prototypes to find out how much light I need to lit up my desk yet provides a crispy feeling of lightness. This structure is 55cm in length due to the 50cm LED in the market which is unchangeable. This opening of the prototype is 1cm in width.
This opening of the prototype is 3cm in width. This is chosen as light is more visibly and I had added a thin sheet of PP board to soften the light.
Next I ought to find out the proper height of the lamp as it is designed to be unalterable by users, as I discovered changing the height is meaningless if the lamp is designed to be at a perfect angle to lit up the desk. And the result is 50cm-55cm for this lamp, and it is properly different for different kinds of lamps.
In the end, I attached the 2 parts together and find out a perfect angle for it, and I move to the next step, MAKE IT OUT with real ingredients.
With the tempting to align the structure of the light, I have created a lamp that is simple, yet elegant. With a simple twist, you can get the your most favored angle that fits your desk habit.
Red Copper and Lauan Wood are chosen because the elegancy from dark wood can never be replaced, not even in the future. And the reddish brown color from red copper metal is the best way to express a warm noble lifestyle that every techno-fashion is tempted for.
FLOW A stare, is really nothing more than what you’re thinking inside. Designed to appreciate the moment staring at the gently FLOWing tips of the time. In this era, people do forgot how to enjoy life by stop and stare. But do not forget, time do heal us, so let’s give time some time.
SKETCHING
As the introduction shown, the most important part of my clock is the concentration on the movement of the flowing needle. So I start with sketching the front view of the clock. I decided to make the clock “float so users dont have to concentrate on the ground contacting part.
Round is chosen everywhere in my clock because edge can be distracting from the main part.
What is the form of imperfection that suit best to the clock? A crack? A fold? or assymnetry? Wabi Sabi is determined by the imperfection in natural objects. I have discovered that Wabi Sabi is the best way to catch people attention, so i decided to add this element in the clock.
PROTOTYPING
Prototype of this project is to find out how high should it be “floating”, how thick should be the stick to remain stealth, how big is the circle to catch attention.
Prototype of this project is to find out how high should it be “floating, how thick should be the stick to remain stealth, how big is the circle to catch attention.
A small crack in the surface of the clock is attention catching as the perfect wood has an imperfection on it. The aim is to find a most fitting gap on my product. At first I disqualified random cracking such as the first and the third circle, as random cracking stimulate a feeling of anxiety. I want users to stare at the clock and feel peace, not interrupted.
At last I chose the second last pattern on the clock, as the gap felt less disturbed, and it is uneasy to see yet it is still there, stimulate a feeling of CURIOSITY in us.
Black Aluminium and Teak Wood combined to give perfection to the clock. The visual difference in these two materials, which give feeling of dull roughness and shiny smoothness at the same time is mesmerizing to watch.
The combined of dark colour wood and light colour wood, and the intentional gap between the wood, is really eye catching that you would stared at it and wait for the needle to be in the exact position as the crack, and time would just passed like that. At last, we realized little things in life are really worth spending time at.
