CONCEPT

Design is about creating unexpected and intriguing new things. This sometimes means breaking the traditional rules of design. Only by trying new things will we create possibilities. That is the key to progress. A good design provokes people to explore the details in it, and the uniqueness of the design leaves an impression on them.

To find an issue and design a solution for a social problem. In this case, I chose Media literacy as my topic. Media literacy is the ability to access, analyze, evaluate, and communicate with others through different media devices. It is easy to share news through social media in the first place simply by clicking on the app. Whereas analyzing the reliability of news has become a problem for the people nowadays, the deliverables for this project are aim to deal with this issue. APPROACH

For this project, I created a fiction organization named Newsology. The goal of Newsology is to synthesize the concept of news literacy, which is focused on understanding and creating insight into the news. I created a series of posters, a brochure, and a website for the brand. In order to promote awareness of news literacy to youth, there was a two-day event that welcomed everyone who was interested in this topic.

Create a book about the future based on an assigned topic. This future should not be hundreds of years away, but something we could see in the near future. The book should be 64 pages or more. The goal of this project is to focus on the typography design and leverage page layouts to express a concept that communicates proper information to the audience. APPROACH

The book I created is all about virtual reality (VR). I named it Kaleidoscope Reality because the world behind the headset is fancy yet untouchable, just like a kaleidoscope. This book contains five chapters (introduction/ function/difference/application/conclusion), which illustrates the future of virtual reality.

Develop prototypes for interactive solutions. The goal is to come up with an app that hasn’t been seen before. By researching and exploring the possibilities and limitations of our user experience design and apply them to the integration of this mobile app. APPROACH

I made an app named Cardo that helps people manage business cards they have saved and also builds their own e-business cards. It also integrates social media with job-hunting. Cardo encourages everyone to share their job skills and find more opportunities with people in different fields. The main colors for this app are black and white, which demonstrate a clean and modern layout.

The project required artists to use Adobe After Effects to make animated graphics. Using the language of time-based media and editing techniques to drive a story, all footage including typography, graphic symbols, shapes, and color should be made on our own.

To create a fictional film festival for a film director. Building a visual language that ties selected movies together and develop a series of deliverables. Developing a fully integrated message and extend it across multiple media.

PROJECT SIX

O B J E CT I V E

APPROACH

The director I chose was Stephen Frears. I chose five movies for this film festival, which

erable reflected the theme of leaving a scar behind and keep moving. The system I created was based on washed out fabric and stained imagery with a bright orange on the other side, which means good things will eventually come.
