Not sure how to show off a sweet belt without ruining that sloppy-chic style you've perfected? Enter the Half-Tuck. Tuck your favourite tee shirt into the front of your waistband leaving it untucked at the sides and back. Make sure it's tucked more on one side than the other and you're done. You may now return to pretending that looking this awesome happens by accident.

Grounded Take a cue from mother nature this spring with earthy browns, olives and oatmeal colours. Bring a bit of that laid back campsite vibe to the weekend barbeque with vintage screenprints and tonal tie dye effects. Subtle stripes and heather fabrics add a bit of style while keeping things laid back and easygoing.

Horizontal stripes aren't for every body shape. If you aren't comfortable with horizontal stripes, mix it up with colour blocking or try stripes on different angles. Avoid vertical stripes completely this season.

When accessorizing, wear solid items that match one of the stripe colours. If you want to be adventurous, choose a different print, such as a floral, in the same colours as the stripe. Be cautious: more than one stripe pattern in an outfit could be considered criminal.

Choose clean jewellery that complements the stripes with posts or long beads but avoid striped jewellery.

A longer length top hitting your hips will help stop stripes from looking wide on the body. Keep your hem at this length, longer striped tops can be very overpowering.

Bring in the

tanks

Trendslation hearts summer’s unsung hero, the tank top - Anna Matthes, Fashion Writer We all have those few pieces in our closet we adore, clothes for whom we have an inexplicable love and feel we’d be lost without. I would like to pay homage to a wardrobe warrior who is overworked and undercredited. Summer just wouldn’t be the same without them. We live in them, we sleep in them and we work out in them. Our closet wouldn’t be complete without a sufficient supply of tank tops. Though I wouldn’t champion wearing these treasures to a formal affair, they can go pretty much anywhere else. They keep us covered under sheer tops and conceal our bra straps effortlessly. They can hold their own and play well with others. They’ve dined with gladiators and shopped with hobos, napped on the beach and curled up in our carryon. From military geek to boho chic, they are always

up to the task. And let’s not forget low maintenance. These guys are out of the wash and back on the field in no time. There’s no bench warming for these work horses either, they’re the underdog of winter layering, ever shying away from the limelight. This summer, wear your tanks with pride, and marvel at how truly fabulous they can be. Just don’t forget the perfect accessory for bare arms; sunblock. Beloved tanks, we salute you.

Keep your cool in crocheted tops, cardigans and hats. Though we're not all ready for the crocheted mini skirts and boots which were all over the runway this season, adding a cute crocheted hat on a cool day or picking up a pretty top with some crocheted details is a fabulous way of incorporating this trend into your unique style. Create a style that is pretty and sweet, and all your own.

The secret is out! Stay cool and block the sun in layers of crochet.

Summer is all about effortless style. We adore long, charm necklaces for their throw on and go appeal. Worn alone, or in groups, they add a touch of easygoing style to any outfit. Pair these gems with crew necks or for a retro feel, a turtle neck. Feel free to wear them with chunkier silver rings but keep other jewellery very simple and clean.

Keep your length in check, any longer than a librarian's pen and your necklace will be hitting your belt every time you walk anywhere. Just below your bra line to an inch above your belly button is a safe range.
