HAIRAPY:

The Crown Braid

A delicate, pretty hairstyle anyone can do. Start with hair parted to one side. Nautrally wavy hair works best. If you have straight hair, try putting it in a braid overnight to give it some extra bounce.

1. 2

Take a thin oneinch section from above either ear.

2.

Divide into 3 and braid toward the front of your head.

3.

Curve the braid around your head like a headband.

4.

Secure on the opposite side with a few hair pins.

A great flannel shirt is a key fall piece you can buy now. Wear on its own or under a llight jacket as evenings get cooler.

TRENDUPDATE

The convertible sleeve helps this piece transition from late summer into fall.

FALL FOR

PLAID

We know what you're thinking, 'Plaid for fall, what's new?'. So we've also included some neat tips to keep plaid fun and fresh this fall and help you work this trend into the chilly months ahead. Plaid accessories in black and white will transition well from fall to winter. They look great with everything from a light denim jacket to a bright winter pea coat.

Mix plaids with prints. Just make sure the prints have a limited number of colours and match the colours in the plaid. Try a printed waist tie, like the shirt above or layer a printed tee underneath.

HOWTOWEAR EDITOR'S PICK:

RED PANTS So the red pant is a bit bold for you, what to do? Try a super cute solid red top to add a bit of kick to your outfit and opt for black pants instead.

▼ ROCKER BAG All over fringe and rows of zippers a bit too much to handle? Embrace your inner bad girl with a zippered pocket bag with fringe tassel zipper pulls to combine fashion and function.

► WIDE LEG The 70's may be back in some circles but for those of us who can't quite pull off a high waisted wide leg flare, try a slightly narrower flare leg with a wedge sandal. You'll get the same look without looking like you've caught disco fever.

► TOGGLES If tonnes of toggles front and centre don't quite work for you, try a top with just a few off to one side to add some fun details without overwhelming the rest of your outfit.

► OWLS Perhaps your inner night owl isn't searching for the spotlight? Keep it small with these stud earrings or a mini pendant for just a touch of wide-eyed style.

REA FALL LIZED

TRENDS

WE KNOW THAT SOMETIMES THE FALL FASHION TRENDS ARE NOT FOR EVERYONE. MOST OF US WOULDN'T BE INTERESTED IN WEARING RED TROUSERS TO THE GROCERY STORE. To help you fall in love with fall, we've simplified a few of fall's must-have trends we're totally smittin' with but we've made them REAL and WEARABLE. So go forth in style, prepared for the falling leaves and dropping degrees.

► ANIMAL Nothing says cougar like all over leopard print. If you're feeling uneasy about this trend, try an abstract version of a more peaceful animal, like zebra.

PRIMA PRETTY

As summer ends and leads us into fall, layer up in ballet inspired clothing and accessories.

TIERED FLUTTER SLEEVED TOP

PINK AND PEWTER PENDANT EARRINGS

Not the 80's flash dance trend of a few years back that some of us tried so hard to forget the first time around, this trend is all pretty and soft. Ballet inspired colours and silhouettes are all the rage this fall. Just be sure not to go overboard. Take bits and pieces from this trend and bring a bit of choreographic chic to your fall wardrobe.

THE BIG TOP Volume plays a key role this fall in tops and cover ups.

Two of the biggest silhouettes this fall are the dolman cardigan and the circle tops. Both have longer hemlines in the back than the front and are flattering on any figure. As far as sleeves are concerned this fall, the bigger the better.

GUYSGEAR

DAPPER DUDE

Television is all over the 50's and 60's right now so try on some retro cool this fall. There's nothing cheesy about this look guys, just make sure you don't overdo it. Keep it clean and simple and you're all set. Nothing says fifties flashback like a slick black and white fedora. A pinstripe short sleeved dress shirt is pretty much key to this smooth look. Avoid looking by making sure you get the right size, a slim fit is essential here. To kick this look up a notch, simply add a plain black tie, but be sure to tuck the shirt in if you do.
