SarahHutson Previous School Warlingham School Subjects Business & Economics, D&T Product Design, Maths and Physics Harley Street but for all the experiences she had and the famous people she met, she does not miss the delayed trains of the London commute one bit. Sarah has fantastic memories of her time at Warlingham Sixth Form. She went on to Exeter University, where she gained a Bsc (Hons) Medical Imaging and now works locally for Surrey & Sussex Healthcare Trust, based at East Surrey Hospital where she works all hours of the day and all days of the week providing an invaluable service to the local community and she loves it. Prior to joining the NHS, she worked on
The NHS has offered her opportunities to develop, including studying Nuclear Medicine. She’s gained a PGDip Nuclear Medicine from City University. Radiography suits her; it keeps her interest in science satisfied and she gets to meet and talk to so many different people. Sarah says she owes thanks to many of the staff during her time at Warlingham as their passion for their subjects helped to spark and nurture her own.
MeganJohnson Previous School Warlingham School Subjects French, Geography and Spanish Megan is studying French and Spanish at the University of Reading. As part of her degree, she spent four months abroad in Montpellier, studying at a university there where she met lots of French people as well as students from all across Europe. The first week was daunting but after a month she quickly settled in and loved the French way of life. She thought the South of France was amazing (especially the weather!). She then spent six months in Argentina, teaching English with the British Council. She says it was the best experience of her life!
She feels that studying languages has allowed her to have these amazing opportunities to experience life in other countries and she believes that the best way to learn and improve a language is to immerse yourself in the country and experience the culture.
RichardSackey-Addo Previous School Warlingham School Subjects English, Physical Education and Psychology
Attending Warlingham Sixth Form prepared Richard to study a BSc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Science followed by an MSc in Sports Performance at the University of Bedfordshire, where he was awarded the Vice Chancellor’s Alumnus of the Year award in 2018. He believes he developed vital study and organisation skills at Warlingham that have helped him throughout his time at university and in his career to date.
Currently, Richard works for the Tennis Integrity Unit, the international body responsible for combating bettingrelated corruption in global professional tennis. In his role, he coordinates the delivery of a world-class anti-corruption education and training programme for all stakeholders in professional tennis. Richard has also held roles as a University Tennis Coordinator working with British Tennis and a Research Officer in the Tennis Development Department of the International Tennis Federation where he was based in Valencia, Spain and has subsequently become fluent Spanish speaker.
StellaArsenis Previous School Warlingham School Subjects Art & Design, Art Textiles and French Stella has fond memories of her Art Textiles classes at Warlingham Sixth Form, where she felt that staff were very encouraging and inspiring to her. After leaving Warlingham Sixth Form, she went on to do a BA (Hons) Cordwainers Footwear at London College of Fashion, during which she did a placement year at Topshop, working in footwear and accessories, designing and also making pieces for the Topshop unique catwalk shows at London fashion week. She graduated with a first class BA honours degree and went on to work for Kurt Geiger London in Ladies fashion.
After that, she did some freelance work at LK Bennett and Tabitha Simmons and is now at Lacoste, as Women’s Sportswear Designer. It was a new challenge for her and opened up many travel opportunities, to Paris, Milan and Copenhagen for trade fairs and design inspiration trips and to factories in Thailand and Vietnam to develop her collection.
TimPinkney Previous School Warlingham School Subjects Government & Politics, History and Law Tim went on to study History and Archaeology at the University of Southampton with a keen interest in Marine Archaeology and he graduated with a 2:1. Tim spent five happy years of studying at Warlingham School and a further two at Warlingham Sixth Form, where he enjoyed being able to choose the subjects that really interested him for A Levels – especially History, which he loved at Warlingham. He always knew he wanted to study it further. In the Sixth Form, he enjoyed the more adult approach to learning, and he felt that it helped prepare him for university.
He is now on a sponsored three-year training programme with shipping giants Evergreen to become a Nautical Navigator and is currently based at Fleetwood Nautical College where he is in Officer Training for the Merchant Navy. Tim hopes one day to captain research vessels and is looking forward to travelling the world and all the adventures that will bring him.
HeatherThomson Previous School Warlingham School Subjects French, Spanish and History Heather took a gap year to do a ski season in France and spend the summer in Valencia teaching English before taking up her place at the University of Southampton, but she was offered a fulltime job teaching English in Valencia and declined her place, spending the next year teaching English. She was accepted to the University of Valencia to study a full-time, four-year degree in Modern Languages and their Literatures; she is studying French and will add a second language next year. She is now practically fluent in Spanish, has completed a TEFL course, made friends from all over the world and has
started a whole new life abroad She says that studying languages at Warlingham Sixth Form gave her this opportunity and her teachers were encouraging, when she told them that she was going to take a gap year. She hopes to reassure others that it is okay for plans to completely change, to take years off to decide what is right for them and not be scared of taking what is viewed as a more ‘traditional’ route.
HollieFrench Previous School Warlingham School Subjects Biology, Chemistry and Maths
Hollie French applied to study Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge with help and encouragement from the Sixth Form team and was offered a place by Emmanuel College to take a Bachelor of Arts Undergraduate Degree. She completed her final year research project at the Sainsbury Laboratory, a
world-class Plant Sciences institution. She was President of Emmanuel College’s Art and Photography Society and she also took part in an expedition trekking for three weeks in the Indian Himalayas with the University Expedition Society. She has volunteered for student-led Global Health Think Tank Polygeia, researching Dengue in Thailand and has undertaken an eight-week research project in a Malaria & Mosquito Lab at Imperial College London. When she graduates, she plans to take a Masters Degree at Imperial College, London; she is also considering doing a PhD.
DileshBhimjiani Previous School Warlingham School Subjects Economics & Business, Sociology and Law Dilesh Bhimjiani left Warlingham Sixth Form with two As and a B at A Level in Economics & Business, Sociology and Law, and then spent three months working in Doha, Qatar, before studying International Business & Management at Aston University. During his course, he spent a year in Madrid, working in marketing communications (MarComs). Whilst still at Aston, he co-founded VIVA Real Estate, which marketed and sold foreign properties in the UK market. Then, in April 2009, he co-founded VIVA Aspire, a strategic marketing agency based in Birmingham with clients all
around the world. At the time, he was working in Madrid whilst his business partner was working in New York. One of VIVA Aspire’s greatest selling points is its dedication to supporting young people, with 13 employees and an average age of 25. It offers business strategy, brand development, marketing planning and design communications. Dilesh was nominated for Birmingham’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2012.

Having taken A levels in Design Technology: Product Design, French, History and Geography, Tom applied to a new university that was formed inside what was then the new Wembley Stadium. He was part of the first intake of students who started in September 2014. At UCFB Wembley, Tom studied Sports Business, Retail and Merchandising. He achieved a 2:1 and even received a
During his time at UCFB, he met some interesting people, including, Martin Tyler, Danny Murphy, Gabby Logan, Brian Cranston, Roy Hodgson, Niall Quinn, Steve McManaman, Ossie Ardiles and many more. He also attended EURO 2016 in Lille and watched Germany vs Ukraine, played football on the Wembley pitch before KSI and went to three FA Cup Finals. He believes he would not be where he is today nor have achieved what he has, without the support and development he received at Warlingham Sixth Form.
AshleighBourne Previous School Warlingham School Subjects Biology, Chemistry and Geography Ever since she was 7, Ashleigh had always wanted to become a Veterinary Nurse and care for animals. After completing her A Levels, in Chemistry, Biology and Geography at Warlingham Sixth Form, she was accepted to enrol into the Royal Veterinary College on their Bachelor of Science Veterinary Nursing degree. She graduated in 2016 and is now a fully qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse. She is currently doing the additional BSc year to gain the extended element of the degree and get an additional
qualification in Emergency and Critical Care. In addition to this, she is working part-time as a locum nurse (almost like a substitute teacher) to keep her practical experience up and to earn some money. Her future plan is to earn more money to go travelling and then eventually set up and run her own veterinary practice.

Arthur Pugh spent a gap year teaching in Kenya after leaving Warlingham Sixth Form. He went on to study Politics, Philosophy & Economics at Durham University, before embarking on a short service commission in the British Army. After almost five years in the Army, Arthur fulfilled a longheld ambition to act, by taking a postgraduate acting course at Drama Studio London. After a year in drama school, Arthur acted professionally in numerous plays, short films and commercials before deciding to take up a career with more financial stability. Arthur is now with Pricewaterhouse Coopers as a Senior Associate (Management Consultant) and is currently working in Amsterdam.
JuliaMase Previous School Warlingham School Subjects To be confirmed Julia Mase (née Shepherd) left Warlingham Sixth Form and went to Newcastle University where she completed an undergraduate degree in Government & European Union Studies which included a year studying at L’Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Lyon, France. She completed an MSc in Social Research Methods & Statistics from the Centre for Census and Survey Research at Manchester University before going on to pursue a PhD in International Development Policy at the Brooks World Poverty Institute (Manchester University), where she became part of an
international team carrying out research on ageing and social security in South Africa and Brazil.
KateHays Previous School Warlingham School Subjects Art, Physical Education and Psychology She then worked as a lecturer at Nottingham Trent University.
Kate took A Levels in PE, art and psychology at Warlingham Sixth Form, where she feels she had exceptional teachers. She believes that the Sixth Form provided a fantastic foundation for her further study. She took a BSc degree in Psychology at Goldsmiths University, followed by an MSc in Applied Sports Psychology at Sheffield Hallam University, then stayed on to complete a sport psychology PhD.
However, she also continued to work as an applied practitioner - which she started during her MSc - and has been working as an applied sport psychologist for the past fifteen years. She has worked within Olympic Sport and professional rugby, and supported athletes at the Beijing, London and Rio Olympics, World Championships and professional equivalent. She is Head of Performance Psychology for the English Institute of sport (EIS) and leads a team of 30+ sport psychology practitioners.
LucasJohncey Previous School Warlingham School Subjects Government & Politics, History and Law Since leaving Warlingham Sixth Form, Lucas went on to study Law at the University of East Anglia, with ambitions of working in London as a Barrister. At University, he has competed in a number of mock trials, getting to the semi-finals in the university’s advanced competition. He has also been working with Norfolk Community Law Service as a Tribunal Advocate, helping people with welfare disputes. He has had multiple opportunities to travel to the Inns of Court, and shadow experienced QC Barristers. He was awarded the Inner Temple Pegasus Scholarship and the 25th Anniversary Commercial Bar
Scholarship - both of which have helped him to form stronger connections with the legal profession. He credits the activities at sixth form, including the Bar Mock Trial, and participating in Russell Group Debates with giving him the confidence he needed to apply for a leadership role and feels that many of the skills he has today are thanks to the superb opportunities offered by Warlingham Sixth Form.
EmilyHolman Previous School Warlingham School Subjects English Literature, French and History is now in the process of writing her MA thesis. She plans to do a PhD and then pursue a career in academia. Emily Holman left Warlingham with three A’s at A-level in English Literature, French and History, and went to Robinson College, Cambridge to study English Literature. She graduated in June 2009 with a 2(i) and spent the following two years as a freelance journalist in Lebanon. She returned to the UK in the summer of 2011 to begin an MA in Comparative Literature at King’s College London, and
HarrietCrome Previous School Warlingham School Subjects Art & Design, Art Textiles and Media Studies After leaving Warlingham Sixth Form, I went on to a year’s Art Foundation Course at UAL Camberwell. This experience helped me identify the area of the arts that I wanted to pursue, which led on to the Wimbledon College of Art UAL, where I studied a degree in Costume Interpretation and learnt skills such as wig making, corsetry, tailoring, dressmaking, and pattern drafting as well as print, dye and costume breakdown.

DaleSonghurst Previous School Warlingham School Subjects Design & Technology: Product Design, Maths and Physics
Dale left Warlingham Sixth Form for the University of Nottingham where he took a four-year integrated masters degree in Mathematics. Following lots of hard work and an amazing four years, he graduated with First Class honours. Whilst at University, Dale had a threemonth internship with BAE Systems, in their Military Air and Information (MAI) sector. At the end of the placement, he was fast-tracked through a large
proportion of the application procedure to join the BAE Systems Graduate and Development Framework (GDF). On completing his masters degree, he rejoined BAE in the Maritime Services sector. Dale now works within the radar sector of BAE Systems and is an Assistant System Design Authority, meaning that he is largely responsible for the development of one of the company’s radar systems. He continues to develop his mathematical skills by also working with fellow mathematicians and engineers to develop enhanced radar signal processing algorithms.
TenishaNash Previous School Warlingham School Subjects Business & Economics, Health & Social Care and Psychology I attended Warlingham from September 2012 to June 2015. During my time here, I studied Psychology, Health & Social Care and Business & Economics at A level. I then went on to study Accounting and Finance at Bournemouth University. Over the summer, I completed my year of placement which entailed training as a Tax Assistant in a local accountancy firm in Lymington, Hampshire.
I have now returned to Bournemouth University where I will be completing my final year in May 2019.
