A Few Tips to Help Improve Your Search IMPORTANT…IMPORTANT…IMPORTANT!! Let me mention first that it is very important that you save at least one search if you want the system to send you automated emails of new listings, price changes, etc. This must be done so the system can set the parameters of your desired properties.

Save Your Searches While there are several ways to “save” searches on our website, the most common “save” option can be seen in the window below. Note the “Save Search” button located in the red oval.

Basic Searches The graphic below illustrates one of the “basic” search widgets utilized on our website. It is pretty intuitive but there are 2 areas that I’d like to mention. First, across the top of the list box, please note that five (5) different types of searches can be accessed. These will be explained in more detail later in the booklet and can be found in the red oval below. Secondly, please note the red oval marking the drop down list box, which is indicated here as “Single Family Residential.” This is where you would select the “type” of property that interests you, such as Single Family Residential, Lots and Land, Commercial, etc.

Advanced Searches By selecting the “Advanced Search” form, you will find that you have many more options to refine your search. My recommendation here is to leave your searches as open as possible and choose less refining criteria, whenever possible. The more criteria that is chosen, the more the output is restricted like a funnel. It is surprising how quickly the properties available to be viewed are restricted to just a few, or none.

The most important feature of this form (see below) is the drop down list box in the red oval. This is where you select which of the three MLSs we represent that you might want to search. The Three Rivers MLS primarily represents the Washington area. Here you will find riverfront/creekfront properties and smaller towns of 12,000 population or less. The Greenville/Pitt MLS primarily represents the Greenville area. Greenville is a university city of 80,000+/- and is surrounded by smaller towns. Greenville offers all the shopping, dining, medical, etc. that would be expected here. The Crystal Coast MLS represents the Morehead City, Atlantic Beach, Beaufort, Down East areas. Here you would find oceanfront/sound front and creek front properties that would be expected in a coastal community.

Map Searches By selecting the Map Search form, you will be able to search many areas of Eastern NC on very detailed maps. Each individual listing is represented by a blue pushpin-type icon. Clicking on a specific icon brings up a small window (illustrated on next page), which offers a snippet of the properties information. From here, either the details of the property, or the pictures associated with the property can be accessed. Additionally, the property can be saved at this location. Please note the map controls on the left side of the map (next page/see large red oval). While the default location of this map is centered on Washington, the map can be moved with the cursor to any area of Eastern NC by holding down the left mouse button and dragging the map to the desired location. It also helps to use the above mentioned controls to zoom out or otherwise control the maps. Another helpful tip regarding map searches involves opening the property “Details” or “Gallery” (next page/see red oval) in another tab. It has been brought to my attention that if you search in any area other than the default map search window, you will be carried back to the default search window after opening and closing the “Details” or “Gallery” windows. This can be a little annoying if you have several properties of interest in your new search area. To avoid this, always “right click” on the “Details” or “Gallery” icons and select “Open in a new tab.” The new tab will open with the desired detail information and can be closed without compromising the adjusted search window. (See Map Search Graphic on next page).

The Address and Listing ID Searches are pretty self-explanatory. We will continue to refine this booklet, as needed. Always feel free to call me at (800) 693-1120 / (252) 402-5769 or email me if you have questions about the use of our website or any properties that you find there. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR HOME SEARCH!
