THE PROCESS
Initial technical advice and guidance
Fire resistance testing
Reaction to fire testing
Environmental testing
Technical assessment and evaluation
Third-party certification - application, factory audit and product sampling
Publication of certification and ongoing review
TECHNICAL ASSESSMENT FOR SCOPE ENHANCEMENT
The starting point for fire safety evaluation will always focus on the fire testing evidence from specialist independent laboratories in accordance with a range of relevant standards, such as BS, EN, or other national or international standards and codes.
The scope of the performance can be further enhanced by technical assessments (and/ or engineering judgements) undertaken by the laboratories or fire consultants.
These individual fire resistant elements might come into their own in harsh and hazardous offshore and onshore environments, therefore the assessment of the entire structure requires stability when exposed to these environmental factors, and it is particularly important that these products still fulfil their original fire protection tasks after a life-time of environmental exposure.
Concrete slab testing
Third-party certification enables a manufacturer of protective coatings to demonstrate consistency in the quality of their product.
Warringtonfire’s product certification process is accredited by UKAS in accordance with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17065:2012. Once a formal application is received, this will be reviewed by Certification Coordinators and Engineers to ensure that your requirements are fully understood and within Warringtonfire’s certification scope.
A quote can then be arranged which may include an audit of the factory production control process (FPC) and product sampling. Once the certification process is complete and any outstanding issues are resolved, certification will be awarded.
The on-going requirements of Warringtonfire’s schemes are also in accordance with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17065:2012. A schedule of audit tests, conducted on material that has been independently sampled is required to maintain the validity of certification, along with regular factory production control audits. At the end of a certificate’s validity period, revalidation can be provided via a new application, to include a full review of the technical file and the on-going review by a Certification Engineer.
Voluntary certification such as Warringtonfire’s ‘CERTIFIRE’ scheme which is a globally respected mark of quality, is being increasingly specified by end-users and can help provide manufacturers with a valuable competitive advantage
