Welcome to the 45TH SUSTAINMENT BRIGADE… On behalf of the Family Readiness Group, I offer a warm extension of greetings from your Army Family. As a member of the 45th, you will find a strong volunteer base ready and willing to assist you and your Family with making the most of your Total Army experience, as well as receive you into our volunteer program! As a single Soldier, you likely have a Family member, friend, or significant other who cares deeply for you and your well being. The Family Readiness Program is here to assist you and those “Family” members better prepare themselves for your current career path, and support them during times of deployment. The FRG mission is “to assist commanders in maintaining readiness of soldiers, families, and communities within the Army by promoting self-sufficiency, resiliency, and stability during peace and war.” This is accomplished through education, referral, and empathy and shared experiences. The intent of the 45th Sustainment Brigade’s Family Readiness Program is to make every Family member feel welcome, and invite them to share, participate, and volunteer. In 1864, BH Liddell Hart wrote about the compassionate letters between General William Tecumseh Sherman and General Robert E Lee… “Man has two supreme loyalties- to country and to family…So long as their families are safe, they will defend their country, believing that by their sacrifice they are safeguarding their families also. But even the bonds of patriotism, discipline, and comradeship are loosened when the family is threatened.” In providing for our Soldiers and Families the opportunity to develop self- reliance, we are better able to emulate the FRG mission!
