2017–2018 CCHS Code of Honor Breakfast Program

Page 1

WELCOME NOVEMBER 2, 2017 On behalf of Calvary Christian High School’s (CCHS) talented faculty, administration and Board Members, welcome to the fourth annual Code of Honor Breakfast. The Breakfast is a fundraising event to benefit the mission of the school and to broaden awareness about the school’s impact. We know there are many demands for your time and we are honored that you chose to spend this time with us today. We are committed to inspiring excellence: mind, body and spirit, in our students as we provide a college preparatory Christian education to equip them to live successfully according to God’s plan for their lives. We are pleased to present today’s keynote speaker, the Founder and President of Upward Sports, Caz McCaslin, whose story intersects entrepreneurial leadership, sports and faith. While serving as a church recreation director in upstate South Carolina, McCaslin developed a basketball league that incorporated athletic skills for success on and off the court—including sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, effort and respect. Eventually the number of children wanting to play outpaced the capacity of the local church gymnasium. Recognizing that his vision was to reach children beyond his local congregation with a first-class sports experience, McCaslin launched Upward Sports. Upward Sports’ values focus on faith, integrity, service, discipline and youth. At CCHS, the motto for our Athletic Department is, “Play Like a Warrior, Live for Christ.” What is a Warrior? Warriors are noble men racing into battle for causes greater than their own lives. Warriors are known for their sacrifice, the greatest of all love laid on the line for the needs and lives of others. Warriors continue in the face of defeat, never say die, never say quit. As we train our students to participate in their sport, fine arts production, or academic competition, we want them to “Play Like a Warrior” but there is a greater cause than what happens in a competition. A life devoted to Christ is the ultimate victory. Christ is the example of the greatest sacrifice, the greatest of all love laid on the line for others. We believe there is no greater victory than a life lived for Christ! As a guest on our campus, we hope you feel welcome and we hope you enjoy the Code of Honor Breakfast. Your attendance today is an encouragement to the students, coaches, staff and administration of CCHS! Thank you!

WHO WE ARE ABOUT CALVARY CHRISTIAN HIGH SCHOOL Calvary Christian High School is a ministry of Calvary Church. Calvary Christian High School is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), and the Florida Council of Independent Schools (FCIS). Calvary Christian High School is also a member of the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) and the Southern Baptists Association of Christian Schools (SBACS). The mission of Calvary Christian High School (CCHS) is to partner with the Christian home to provide a challenging college preparatory Christian education that equips students to live successfully according to God’s plan for their lives. The vision of CCHS, as a ministry of Calvary Church, is to be a cutting edge learning center that strengthens the home, the church, and the community by providing the highest quality Christian education to all students. As part of this vision, CCHS offers a balanced approach in its educational philosophy, with emphasis on three main areas: advanced academic opportunities, exposure to the arts, and competitive athletics as a member of the FHSAA. These three areas of emphasis are rounded out and stabilized by a Christian worldview. It is foundational to our mission that a Christian worldview be integrated into each subject and activity. The CCHS educational philosophy rests on the belief that all truth is God’s truth, and the Bible is the only inspired and infallible authoritative Word of God that contains the truth (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Therefore, the Bible must be foundational in all areas of curriculum that is designed to enable pupils to develop to their full potential spiritually, mentally, socially, physically, and emotionally (Luke 2:52). As such, Calvary students are more than prepared to enter the next phase of their life after high school graduation.
