Agne Alesiute Transfografika
Description
TRANSFOGRAFIKA is a project that links traditional typography with kinetic transformation of the letters. This experiment seeks to embody typography as a living organism which is constantly changing and thus adapting through time and technology. Two points of view are important while decoding this piece: transformation and fixation − the combination of two tells the story of the evolution of typography styles. The transformation in the background illustrates the free change in the forms, yet the fixation in the front is created by the graphic of the lines. These transformations of the experiment can be compared with the metamorphosis of a butterfly when it hatches from the cocoon. What does happen inside it? You can predict it, but the outcome is always captivating.

Description
Typeseeing is not just an ordinary book − it is meant to be a guide, collecting voices and thoughts on typography from different parts of the world. The project is open not only for professional graphic and typography designers, but also for everyone to whom typography is important. If you answer three short questions that show your view on typography, you can represent your region in this small anthology.

Kim Yeandle-Hignell Line, Circle and Square
Description
The brief for the visual design project was to a design a book of drawings, constructions, photographs, observations, in three sections: lines, circles and squares or produce a movie in three parts expressing the qualities of lines, circles and squares. I felt that creating a video would be a good opportunity for me to continue learning more about moving image and software (such as Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro) while also writing my own music. Inspired by Oskar Fischingar’s video soundtrack, I wanted to take a more natural and primal approach, taking the viewer on a journey through moving geometric shapes.

Ethan Blouin Sleep
Description
The Onomatopoeia project asks sophomore-level graphic design students at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design to consider the semantics of typographic formatting and explore typography’s role as a vehicle to encode and share human experience. Students begin by translating a musical selection into guttural syllabic utterances—onomatopoeia—then use that text as content to typographically illustrate the structure and dynamics of the original musical form. First produced on paper, projects culminate as temporal design with the final expression brought back into sequence with the original musical selection.
