YOURARTS CENTRE
As we head into 2023, we’re making sure our spaces continue to buzz, with events and activities throughout our building. We’re here to not just entertain you, but also to get you talking, and to get you creating.
Katrina Palmer’s What’s Already Going On is the artist’s largest commission and will transform the Gallery. After November’s first successful Gallery Late, we also have a second in March, featuring some real surprises.
Meanwhile, our stages host James Wilton Dance (with a Max Richter soundtrack), a revival of iconic Mike Leigh comedy Abigail’s Party, and a remarkable adaptation of Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights We also welcome back Rifco Theatre Company, The Proclaimers, and Tall Stories (with an adaption of Stick Man creators Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s The Smeds and The Smoos). Our cinemas will continue to screen all the best titles in an exciting run–up to the awards season.
Finally, extending our commitment to welcome everyone, we have even more free activities, including Jazz Fridays, Family Sundays, Workshop Wednesdays, and music–making workshops designed to nurture the next generation of talent.

A show about how not to blow up the planet. We don’t really talk about nuclear weapons much. Invisible guests in cafés, on the shelves of supermarkets, in line at the cash machine.
A Family Business explores this hidden threat and looks at the people who do talk about them. How do ordinary people communicate about extraordinarily important issues? And what if those ordinary people were us?

After Emily Bronte, created by Inspector Sands
Adaptation conceived and developed by Lucinka Eisler and Ben Lewis
Written by Ben Lewis Directed by Lucinka Eisler
“We don’t in general take to foreigners here... unless they take to us first”
With characteristic humour, passion and pathos, an outstanding creative team offers a fresh take on the infamous love story of doomed heroes Catherine and Heathcliff, and their devastating impact across generations.
Drawing on Brontë’s piercing wit and intense emotion, Inspector Sands will throw the classic novel into sharp contemporary focus, exploring the way violence generates violence and the relationship between social alienation and radical behaviour.
Wuthering Heights will contain violence, passion, peril, social awkwardness, high winds, heavy rain, loud music (and quite a lot of mud).

International artists with 100 years of life experience between them, Jo and George are armed with a soundtrack of floor–fillers, a book of raffle tickets and a sprinkling of eco–friendly optimism.

Donate now
Invest in the future of our refurbished, vibrant, and environmentally sustainable venue by giving online, at a kiosk in the foyer, or at the Box Office. Your support will bring people together and open our doors wider than ever before.
You can now donate on the day of your visit using one of our new contactless donation boxes located besides the Creative Learning Space and the Mead Gallery. Every donation, however small, helps us to continue offering opportunities for people to engage with the arts.
Your support counts.

EXPLORE AND COME
This is your arts centre. This is your music. These are your pictures. Here are your stories. Jump into things that you love or give something new a first try.
Pop by for a minute or stay for the day. Come on your own or bring family and friends. Have a laugh. Be surprised. Float away. Shed a tear.
Your gallery is here and it's free. Your theatres are just down the way. The movies are right up the stairs. And gigs, concerts and shows are just over there.
