INTRODUCING:
who are you?
Jackson Packer - Vocals James Malone - Guitar Joe Dutton - Guitar Kyron Brook - Drums Toby Bareham - Bass Animus Sadist formed in 2010 when (vocalist) Jackson and (guitarist) James started jamming ideas together. They then decided they wanted to get practicing. With new a new song “Cold dead hands”, they had something to work with. Shortly after, Joe joined to fulfill the rhythm Guitar parts. After a few lineup changes leading up to Autumn 2011, Kyron was added to the lineup for drums and later Toby was recruited to play bass.
where are you going? At the moment we are just trying to get our names around! Building up a fan base and doing as many shows as we can. Right now we are recording a few tracks for our shared E.P with Beneath the Tide. Which should be released in a few weeks. what makes you different? What makes us different
WHO ARE YOU? We are a Guildford based Progressive Death Metal band called Doomed From Day One. We play aggressive, heavy and intense music that contains elements of Prog, Melo-death and Hardcore. Members consist of: Sean Scott (Southampton) – Vocals Charlie Griffiths (Isle Of Man) – Guitar Charlie Frederick (Oxfordshire) – Guitar Eifion Sweet (Wales) – Bass Jamie Elsey( Kent) – Guitar The majority of the
band formed in 2009 via an advert posted on a university portal. The final touches were solidified via drummer Jamie knowing Sean who would later become our vocalist and Bassist Eifion was discovered at a house party. Where are you going? Recently just come off our August Tour, we are now planning to do and release a music video for our single “Pretending” off our debut EP “The Wasted World” as well
as, relaunching our EP through the press and planning tours throughout October and November. What makes you different? We believe due to our wide range of influences, we have managed to blend and create a unique sound making us sound a lot different to other bands. Having brought together Prog, Melo-death and Hardcore into our music, the unique blend makes it interesting watch an listen.
i
is the amount of different influences to all the members. We all listen to, and have many different favourite bands and try to make our stuff as original as possible. Trying to get different sounds with amps, drums and vocals. What we have found to help, is that both (guitarist) James and (drummer) Kyron are going to college and studying music, music theory and everything in between. Having this knowledge of how music works has helped to achieve what we want out of our music.

wouldn’t mind if we did just make enough to live off of. We all love what we do so that’s all that really matters. In our position at the moment, our plans for the future is to gain a bigger reputation not just in London but in the whole of the UK. Rock’s got his driving license so we want to get a car or van to tour around the UK with.
Future gigs We will send our tour dates to you closer to the time, once all has been confirmed.

future gigs Sun, Dec 11 - Room 5 Croydon, £5 OTD
At the moment we’re having a solid flow of gigs which we’ve been playing throughout this year. We’ve played a few oxjam gigs recenty supporting the Oxfam charity. We’re also hosting our own promotion gig in November to get other bands and artists to get up on stage as well.
what makes you different? We’re not conventional. Right now, the big main scene is Screamo, which we don’t mind but it just seems to us that every band is doing the same thing and plus it seems like it’s more of a fashion sense rather than a musical genre; people only liking a band because their members are good looking. We just want to make music that we enjoy making and hope that people take the time out to enjoy it with us.
Our intention is to at least make a living off music. Of course all of us have that dream of becoming a famous band and playing major gigs and festivals but we
We have a tendency to write songs with totally different genres. Due to our likes in music (Metal, Grunge, Punk, Country, Funk etc) we have an arsenal
of songs ranging from Punk to Blues to Metal and even slow mellow songs. Although, we generally try to stick to alternative rock we find ourselves experimenting more than ever. future gigs January 2012 – TBC date – o2 Indigo – Supporting Lauri Ylnonen (formal member of the band The Rasmus) - Greenwich, London contact housepartymassacre@hotmail. com, shop@housepartymassacre.com, info@housepartymassacre.com www.housepartymassacre.com
WE MANAGED TO CATCH UP WITH THE EVER POPULAR FOR EVERYTHING A REASON & GOT TO CHAT ABOUT SUCH THINGS AS THEIR NEW SINGLE, EP RESPONSE & MORE BOYISH ANTICS, BUT WHAT ARE YOU STILL READING THIS FOR? SEE WHAT THE BOYS HAD TO SAY FOR THEMSELVES!
So give us a little bit of background information on For Everything a Reason, what made you want to start a band? Who came up with the name and were there any other possible names? The band was sort of formed from the ruins of a college band called ‘Dark Fire’. After the college course finished we had a lot of changes to make to turn the band into the music we wanted rather than what was going to pass the course! I (Tom) came up with the name for an acoustic project I was doing that I never really bothered with, and when I proposed it to the group it was well
received. DO YOU HAVE any major influences? Our personal influences differ dramatically from each other. I (Tom) grew up listening to a lot of acoustic bands, as well as early post hardcore like ‘Finch’, but my biggest current influence would have to be Austin Carlile! Ed and Dex have always been the ones who’ve brought the heaviness, Ed’s shouting at me to put anything from ‘Parkway Drive’ to ‘Seal’, whereas Dex has always been a massive tech metal fan. Ash is massively influenced by
Adam Gray and Aaron Gillespie, and Luke is mostly routed in pop-punk. What feedback have you received for your E.P “You bring the thunder, we’ll bring the reign”? Aside from it having brought us quite a lot of label interest, that EP has taken us from playing shows where you’d have the front line nodding their heads to shows where people are literally throwing down. Your new single “The Great Je Suis” has just been released. What has
the feedback about the track been like so far? It’s been a very positive response really. The general opinion has been that it’s a much more mature sound.. As well as plenty of use of the term ‘heavy as balls’. As a band, what has been your biggest challenge to date? VAN INSURANCE! No, seriously, money is a massive challenge! People never seem to realise how hard it is to balance dedication to the music with earning enough to survive between shows! It’s a hell of a long way between the bedroom stage and the stage where you’re earning enough to keep
rolling! Do you have any funny or embarrassing tour moments you’d like to share with us and who keeps everyone laughing on tour? Unfortunately, Ash is so ADHD it hurts, but we kinda feed off of each other and end up pissing ourselves at each other, leaving everyone else who isn’t one of the band deeply confused. As far as embarrassing stories, the best we’ve got is finding Luke curled up the lobby of a five-star hotel throwing up on himself.. He ended up sleeping in the van because he couldn’t work the lift! If you could tour
anywhere in the world, where would you go and who would you choose to tour alongside? We’d love to hit up Australia! Parkway Drive have made the Australian tour life look like so much fun! We’d like to hit the road with them! They’re so chilled out! We’d also love to spend some road time with Fei Comodo because those guys are just a lot of fun!
about it and what would be your strategy? I think we’d set up our equipment, play half a song, and whip out a tazer to take down the dragons that say ‘I’m out’. You released a video for “His Name Is Humphrey and He Came from the Sky” how long was the process for the

making of the video? Is there any meaning behind the video itself? The shoot took two days, but there was weeks of planning. We’ve all grown up seeing Lostprophets and Limp Bizkit rocking out in skate parks, and we wanted to pull that element into the present. Ash is a skater himself so it was just a comfortable environment. You’re heading back into the studio next year to record your album. How much would you say your new material differs from your E.P? The heavy parts are heavier, the soft bits are more epic. It’s still obviously our sound, but it means a whole lot more. Especially lyrically, the EP was mostly about heartbreak to be honest, Whereas the album includes love, hate, partying, religion.. It’s a whole lot more personal and a whole lot
more aggressive.. Your lyrics are quite powerful. Who writes the songs and how much meaning is there behind the lyrics? The song writing differs from song to song. Sometimes the whole song will be written out before it even hits a practise room, other times it’s just a riff that gets worked on until there’s a song. Generally I (Tom) write most of the lyrics, and they all mean something, but the EP’s lyrics were mostly written in a passing state of mind, so it’s not necessarily something that’s an ongoing belief, just how I felt at the time. Whereas the album goes a hell of a lot deeper for all of us. What is your favourite song to perform live? ‘The Great Je Suis’. It’s not necessarily the most fun to play, but it always gets a hell of a response.
You were recently signed to Facevsfist records. When did this happen and how did it come about? It’s been in the pipeline for a long time actually. The label were starting up and we were looking to take the next step. It’s started out as a hugely codependent partnership rather than a record deal, but as we’ve worked together we’ve built a powerful business partnership out of something that was almost a social experiment for both parties. Are there any artists you would like to work with? Of Mice & Men would be an awesome band to hook up with. Undoubtedly the best album of this year. What has been the bands biggest achievement to date?
Probably the surprise success of the ‘End Credits’ cover. We did it for a bit of fun and never expected it to take off so dramatically! You’ve come a long way as a band since you first started out. How much have the support of your family and friends helped whilst fulfilling your dream? We’ve almost been pushed to succeed in spite of our parents. We all want to make our parents proud of what we’re doing, but it’s not really a career choice they’ve ever understood, but I think they’re finally starting to understand that we love what we’re doing, and while it isn’t the easiest or most conventional way to make a living, we’re throwing ourselves wholeheartedly into our dreams.
ALL IN GOOD CHRISTMAS SPIRIT, WE PILED INTO VILLAGE STUDIOS WITH MR MARTIN HOBBY, TOOK OUR CLOTHES OFF & GOT IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA, BUT LET’S NOT JEST THAT WE CARE FOR WORDS, WE’LL KEEP IT SHORT & SWEET & CONCENTRATE ON THE NAKEDNESS INSTEAD.

I have asked for a new pair of GHD’s though What has been the worst/weirdest present you’ve received in the past? The weirdest present I’ve received is an adult size space hopper as a secret santa gift. The funniest thing about it is that it had lots of writing and messages on it, some of which would have left my gran in therapy ;P What do you plan to get up to this Christmas? Spending lots of time with my family and boyfriend
And of course eating my body weight in food!! WHAT CELEB WOULD WE FIND WRAPPED UP UNDER YOUR TREE? Ooooo.. thats a hard one. Well I don’t really have crushes on celebs but I wouldn’t mind Megan Fox under my tree ;P Do you have any crazy Christmas traditions? Nothing really crazy but sometimes on christmas eve my family and I play charades and that can get quite ridiculous at times!! What is the true meaning of Christmas? Being with the people that you love and being grateful for the life you live and the things you take for granted
We were lucky enough to be able to have a chat with the boys in August Burns Red before their second sold out show in as many days in London. Sitting down with guitarists JB Brubake, Brent Ramble and bassist Dustin Davidson, we had a chat about life as one of the USA’s biggest metalcore acts. So your new album ‘Leveller’ has been out for a few months now, how has it been recieved by fans compared to the previous albums?
I would say very good, it obviously has outsold all of our other records which is awesome, especially in this day and age and all the kids seem to like it and it’s gotten good reviews so, we’re pretty pumped. And it was reported in the States that it out sold Limp Bizkit’s Golden Cobra, proud of that? Hahahahah, yes it did, We heard about that from metal hammer actually, take that limp bizkit! So what inspired the
“TAKE THAT LIMP BIZKIT!”
writing of the album for you? “Umm, I can’t say anything specifically, however, the goal, and I think the goal moving forward will always be to try to be ahead of the curve as far as what the metalcore trends are, we like to be a little bit more interesting and diverse than the norm. So we’ll just continue to push to boundaries of the genre.” You guys got any favourite tracks off the album? “My favourite track is probably Pangea.” “Mine’s Internal Cannon.” “Urr, mine is either Divisions or Pangea.”
So how’s it been touring with A Day To Remember? “Urr Normal, we’ve toured with them so much in the last like, two years, that it’s, it kinda seems like every other tour that we do, they’re on it with us. So at this point it just kinda seems like the usual?” “It’s been good though, I mean you know you’re going to be playing big shows when you’re
out with ADTR, so y’know, we enjoy touring with them.” So any funny stories from the tour? “Well there’s lots of stories, tour stories are one of those things that’s hard to think of and usually something reminds you of the tour story and that’s why you tell it.” (Jake gently sings michael jackson in the background) So is it good to be back in Europe then? Yeaahh, it’s alright, yeah we haven’t done a full tour over here in a while so we were due to urr, put in some hard work over here. How are the fans over here in the UK? “Well they’re pretty much the same, I think Europe and the States have similar crowds, I mean they both get a lot of shows, and they’re not like, places like Japan or South America or places like that, where, kids go bonkers cos they don’t get shows like that often, but the kids are great, I mean, they’re good, they rock out and have a good time, just like the
states I’d say.” How was last night’s sold out show? “Urmm well for me personally one of my moniters broke so I had a uurrr.. problem hahaha.” “Well the show was great and everyone had a great time and the kids were great so it was probably my favourite show on this tour that we’ve played, definitely my favourite show in London we’ve ever played.” “Same for me, I had a blast last night it was awesome.” What inspired the 8 bit empire track on Leveller? “It wasn’t actually inspired by anything in particular. It was simply that,
when I write out our guitar parts, I tab them and programme drums. That’s what it sounds like, before we record our songs, they sound like that. Our label thought it was really neat, and that people would wanna hear that…” “Yeah they wanted it so bad.” “Yeah they were the kinda ones that thought it was really neat and so it went in, we didn’t think it was anything special but there you go.” Any festivals planned for next year? Urr there a really big one over here in the UK that I’m sure you’re familiar with, that we’re not gunna say cos we’re not
confirmed on it, but you can imagine which one it is. And there’s a whole bunch of stuff over Europe; Novarock, i know we’re doing that one, urr, a bunch of German ones, stuff like that.” Do you have any other touring commitments? “Yeah headlining tour in the States, January, February, and urmm, after that it’s a whole bunch of international stuff, so we’re going all over the place.” Have you written any new
material since Leveller? “Yes urrmm, I’ve written a couple of songs, like 3 songs but they aren’t for an august burns red full length, it will be an august burns red release but it’ll be more like a special release.” “It’ll be a full release but it’ll be, urmm, special, that’s all we can say right now haha.”
“We all use Ibanez too!” Any sponsors? “Yeah a bunch! All the stuff we just listed really.” “Oh, Matt plays Truth Drums and Zildjian Cymbals.”
Is there a band you havent toured with that you would love to tour with? “Slipknot!”
Do you have any good advice for budding musicians starting a band? “Sure! Play locally, get big locally, that’s a big thing, before trying to tour!”
“Slipknot would be sweet!”
“And spend your money on a good recording to have a good representation of yourself!”
Any MUSICAL idols? “Michael Jackson!” What gear do you guys use on the road? “Urrr, we use a lot of the same, our base gear is the same, mesa cabs and then go all over the place with pedals after that. We use a whole bunch of different stuff.”
“It doesn’t matter how good your band is, if you hand somebody demo that sounds like crap, you’re not gunna go anywhere so, save up a thousand bucks or whatever and go record a good song somewhere!” Do you have a message for your UK fans? “Thanks for having us this time, we’ll be back to annoy you and play shows for you again!” Alright, cheers guys!

(6.5/10) The Ghost Inside are on next and they certainly know how to get a place moving. Granted they over use the sub drop on the drum kit a bit (not a complaint, it’s fucking mint) but other than that it is a fantastic display of hardcore played well. It’s really refreshing to hear a
hardcore band that isn’t just some ‘edge kid’ yelling over one power chord, and TGI certainly smash this mould to bits. Their metal elements and influences are especially clear in the guitar playing, and is reflected by there not being an idiot yelling “2 step!!11!!ONE!” every 5 seconds. Take note hardcore fans. This is how it’s done. They’ll be back in April with Parkway Drive, so miss them and you’ll now look doubly stupid. (9/10) Main support on this tour are the lovely August Burns Red, who’s tasty (and rather ahead of the curve) metalcore is a real treat. The first thing to be noticed about these boys is
that they’re tight as can be. Tighter than a nun’s chapel if you know what I mean. Intricate leads and a solid, powerful rhythm section make for a really nicely produced sound, and one which is topped by some amazing vocals. Jake Lurs’ vocals are so much
more powerful live than on a recording, which really adds to how amazing these guys really are. Factor in that the breakdowns feel heavier, and those solos more epic, this is a performance not to be missed if you get the chance. Most of the crowd seem to
agree as well, with many going nuts for the entire set; singing along, crowd surfing, working the head bob, you know the drill. AND they finish the set with Backburner. Epic. (10/10) And finally it’s time for one of the biggest metal/ pop-punk/hardcore/ insert subgenre here bands in the world right now; A Day To Remember. If you don’t know who they are, crawl out from under your rock and get on youtube.
D R A W ED T R E B O R WE MANAGED TO CATCH UP WITH THE EXTREMELY TALENTED ‘EDWARD ROBERT’ YOU LET US IN TO HIS WORLD OF PHOTOGRAPHY & SHOOTING GORGEOUS BABES. So, What first got you into photography and how have you built up from there? I’ve always had a creative/artistic side but never found the right outlet for it. I did a bit of general art at college but dropped out after losing interest, plus I wasn’t particularly good at it. I hadn’t done anything artistic for a good few years before deciding a couple of years ago to get myself a half decent camera as the digital format appealed to me. With film photography the whole developing process and the fact you could come away with a blank film put me off. With that being said I have recently wanted to try a bit more film work to see what results I can get out of it.
I quickly learnt that I enjoyed taking pictures of people above anything else. I was very lucky to have some very willing friends to help me build up an initial portfolio of work. My better half was always, and still is very supportive and encouraging and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without her. I got myself registered with Flickr and Model Mayhem and began to network. I slowly was starting to convince models to let me shoot them and then much to my surprise I’d then have models asking to work with me. I now pretty much shoot on a weekly basis, be it commissioned work or my own personal projects. What would you say is your specialist area & what are the best things about it? I think in my first year of shooting I was still trying to find my identity & style. I made a conscious decision at the start of my second year that
I only wanted to shoot alternative styled models. This felt like a natural way forward for me as I could relate to this kind of style. Alternative fashion and culture really interests me and I love to try and capture it in my images. This may change in time as I’m always looking to try new things and develop my style. I suppose the best thing about it is meeting likeminded people, working with models who are on the same wavelength and want the same results out of a shoot. What has been the most interesting shoot you’ve been involved with? I couldn’t pin down one in particular but my time in London was pretty interesting/disastrous. I decided to spend a couple of days down there shooting after my brother offered to put me up for the night. He was
away for the weekend so left me with his keys. On the morning of the first shoot I realised I’d left my brother’s keys back home in Wolverhampton so I had nowhere to sleep. Then the second shoot didn’t happen as the model had left her phone on the tube and couldn’t get in touch with me. Despite all of this the trip was a great success and I managed to shoot four great models over the two days. I’m hoping to do the same sort of thing again in future.
it. I’d also like to see an improvement in my work as I’m never completely happy with it and always feel I could do better. In an ideal world I wouldn’t say no to becoming a full time photographer as I only do it part time currently.
HAVE YOU GOT ANY ADVICE FOR ANY BUDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS AMONG OUR READERS? The best advice I can give is to spend a lot of time networking, building Where do you see yourself in up relationships and contacts. If you five years time? like peoples work or feel inspired I never really set out in this game by it, tell them, it goes a long way. with specific goals or targets and I Also, you don’t need top of the range still don’t really have any. I’m just equipment to get good results. You doing it for the love of it and taking can make great art using your camera any extra opportunities that arise phone these days. If you have a along the way as a bonus. I suppose creative eye and confidence in your my main goal is just to keep enjoying own work people will respect that.

Our People Versus Yours - Lights Our People Versus Yours are a post-hardcore band currently exploding into the Essex music scene playing with bands such as Deaf Havana and Young Guns while playing festivals alongside Dillinger Escape Plan and Funeral for a Friend so I was pretty excited to listen to their new EP “Lights”
with a real beauty of a drum beat before vocals kick in with what comes across as emotional screaming. The screaming is broken up by melody driven, sensitive and well sung parts. Lights definitely sets the tone for the rest of the EP and is noticeably the lightest of the four songs as the EP builds in intensity.
The tracks consist of wailing guitars and a drummer that has learnt not to overuse the double kick pedal. There aren’t so many solos but plenty of lead parts. Unfortunately for the duration of the EP the bassline is nowhere to be found, it is most likely hiding behind the waveform of a kick drum, still this is the kind of music where the bass is to be felt not heard.
After listening to “Ariha” I am left with the impression I have heard it before, most likely because it follows the same formula as the song it followed. The vocals on this track are a lot more catchy, well the ones that aren’t screamed. There is a moment when a few people shout at once and I’m not quite sure it worked as it came across as a bit cheesy. There is one moment around a minute to the end when there is an awesome build up leading into a heavy explosion, really well done.
The first song is “Lights.” The first minute or so is a big build consisting of guitars setting the mood
“Ariha” leads into “I’ve Had Better Days” without skipping a beat which draws on all the energy of ariha and
Ourfamous Dead – I am Human Ourfamous Dead are beginning to make a name for themselves touring with bands such as the Blackout, after a listen to “I am Human”, their upcoming EP it is unsurprising how that came about. Ourfamous Dead focus on post-hardcore mixed with electronic music meets pop punk, suitably self proclaimed as Electronicore, which could very well already determine whether you will like this EP or not. I am Human starts with “ratemyhate” which starts off with a synth line sounding a lot like Hadouken. The vocals kick in a few seconds after which are reminiscent of Billy Talent’s shouting style. There is a part when a few people shout together like what the Gallows do on Staring at the Rude Bois, which is not that effective but the band still decided to do on literally every other song on this EP. The bassline has a nice tone but could use with a bit of turning up in the general mix of this song. The guitars have a pretty nice tone but barely play
at the same time as the synth which is a shame as it seems you can only have one or the other when I was looking forward to hearing how the two would work together. There are a couple of moments when two people sing at once, which works well although the two voices are so different. The drums are what you would expect from a posthardcore/pop punk band and remain the same throughout the EP. “Untitled 1” kicks in with a piano intro which is immediately dismissed as the song turns into a pop-punk style tune completely rendering the intro completely pointless. The bass is much more prominent in this song plucking along like a +44 song. The synth is barely in the song and only kicks in for a few seconds around half way through the song marking a break down. The synth sort of kills the tone of the break down and sounds like it is just there to give the synth something to do. Fortunately the break down is short and is followed by a nice little guitar solo. The band missed a trick with “Untitled 2” by starting off with another keys intro instead of following off of “Untitled
continues it. Even the emotional parts make you want to mosh! There is a split second when the vocals break, I’m pretty sure it was not intentional but it really does sound stunning. There is not too much to say about “Unity” that I haven’t said about every other track on this EP. It is a good track in its own right but still in the same style of everything else. It is definitely a brilliant conclusion to a fantastic EP. If you are a fan of this genre of music definitely check this band out now. 5/5
1.” At least the intro in this song is a bit more justified as it leads into a fast synth riff. The bass groove sets a nice tone for the chorus and works particularly well with the synths . Guitars plug in any extra space in the mix which generally works pretty damn well. The vocals are sung really well in this one too although by this point I am a bit sick of the “Everyone shout at the same time like the Gallows do” vocals as in this song particularly it does sort of kill the mood again. There is a sudden completely unnecessary breakdown that doesn’t really fit and just fills like a device to plug up more space. The final song “The Great and Inevitable (Change)” kicks in with a pretty well constructed synth part with a suitable drum part. It fit pretty well with the chorus that follows, which it has to as the intro is a major part of the verse. The vocals are pretty catchy in the
chorus but the verses “almost rap” is less than great, but hey, it may appeal to some people. Overall the band are exploring new territory and constantly experimenting with new sounds. Some of the experiments work but some still need a bit of work. This EP is a bit of a mixed bag but still has its moments. Worth checking out even if it is just for curiosities sake. 3/5
I went into this not really sure what to expect partially due to the lack of information I could find about the band other than the assumable purposely ambiguous “Gold mining evolution tamperers from space.” I started to listen to the first track, the suitably named “introduction.” After a few seconds of ambience from guitar and synth building up a certain degree of nail biting tension I was suddenly hit by a big wall of “FUCKING HELL!” as the guitars and drums kicked with a mighty riff which sounded like a metallic QoTSA. Soon after a jumpy lead guitar riff kicks in finalizing the awesomeness of the riff. Around half way through the bass carries the instrumentation with a distorted groove as the vocalist joins in with an old school punk vibe as he slowly turns his voice more towards hard rock as the song ends on the first face melting riff. I soon realised that this song is an ever so brief summarization of what the rest of the album is capable of. Generally I’m not quite sure what to classify this album as or what to compare it to. “Psychedelic desert hard punk” seems to be a suitable term. As for influences, the vocalist’s voice reminds me slightly of a punkier/heavier Jane’s Addiction (particularly in that of ancient snake) mixed with turbonegro. In most the songs the melody is carried by the vocals relying on instrumentation to supply a stable riff as the singer’s voice freaks out in. The drums are a heavy powerhouse of which I cannot pinpoint another similar band to compare them to. Perhaps the White Stripes after a few drum lessons mixed with John Bonham of Zeppelin meets QoTSA is a good description. The bass usually maintains a steady
rhythm but still has its moments to shine such as that of “introduction” and “The Big Cut” There are three noticeable categories for the songs. There are the calm songs such as “Son(sun)” parts of which wouldn’t sound out of place on a John Frusciante album but with the distinct “Turbowolf” style to it. There are a couple of experimental tracks such as “All the Trees Die” and “TW1” The former being made of an unclassifiable guitar track, bizarre drums and a mellow vocal track and some synth and sounds sort of like a beefed up radiohead. “TW1” meanwhile is a guitar solo with rung out notes and something on synth, not quite a riff, more ambience than anything. Of course you can’t forget what Turbowolf are best at, rocking out with songs like “Thing Could be Good Again” and “The Big Cut” There is honestly no way to describe this band’s unique and original sound. The highlights of this album are from track 1 through to track 13 (all of them). Seriously. Stop reading this review right now and buy this album. 5/5
