ANNOUNCEMENT: Regarding any defective Automatic Speedways

Ok guys, this is more from me personally at this point, not anything really "official" as of yet. Before I get into this, let me just say that this is BS. You should never have to expect any degree of defects from any Invicta at any price point, but especially not at nearly $1,000 and with such an exotic and highly touted movement. I take this personally because I have dealt with D-D modified movements and have never seen an issue EVER, so knowing this, I excitedly worked all of you up to a fever-pitch over this exotic and expensive movement. Heck, I OWN watches with D-D modified movements that I paid well over $3,000 for that have performed flawlessly for YEARS, so I expected no less, especially given the history of perfection in the auto Speedway lineage. I'm pissed and I'm merely the guy that sells 'em. So I completely undrstand how YOU feel as the ones who BOUGHT them. Eyal is pissed too, let me assure you. He is out of the country right now, but we have talked about this. I'm very certain there will be some loud meetings between him and Dubois-Depraz over this. He has asked me to work closely with Rebecca to get this resolved. Nothing can possibly be done right away because she will not even see the messages until at least Monday. I would expect that within a week, we should have some answers for you. What should we expect? What can be done really except for Invicta to have you send them in (at no charge to you, of this I can assure you personally), and replace/repair as needed. Nothing can be done overnight, so there will be a wait. But really...what else is there that can be done. So this is what I would expect... maybe Rebecca has a better solution... I don't know. Just know that I feel for you, and I totally understand your level of expectation when buying a Reserve Collection time piece, and totally understand your level of frustration about all of this. All I can say is "I'm Sorry" although that means nothing in the grand scheme of things... but as the guy who sells 'em, not makes 'em... it's all I can offer. I offer also to stay on top of this and to help you as best I can as well as assist Eyal as best I can. __________________

It's nice to see Eyal is involved. This matter shouldn't cost the watch owner a penny to get this matter corrected. If the only problem is misaligned hands it shouldn't be a major deal to correct. But if Invicta ships the watch to Switzerland for repair could take weeks or maybe months to get the watch back. The solution to this problem is to reduce the turn around time to less than a month. __________________

I couldn't get one but have read the posts regarding the problem. All I can say is way to go Jim. other than Jim who do you know on a TV show that would go this far. I don't know what else you could expect from him but he will not let this go unaddressed. Is there anyway this could of happened from the way UPS handles the packages. I think this is why myself and others here keep buying from Jim. Hes the man. If I could have purchased one I would work with Rebecca which has done me right every time I've needed her, to get this very special watch fixed. I do understand how the ones that got a broken one must feel but knowing Jims on it should help you feel better. reserveman View Public Profile Send a private message to reserveman Send email to reserveman Find all posts by reserveman Add reserveman to Your Contacts #24 05-21-2010, 04:16 PM

Guys, it doesn't matter WHO's fault it is, the fact remains that there is an issue, period. I have no idea if it's D-D's fault, Invictas fault, or a forklift operator's fault. IF it were D-D's fault, then Eyal will be screaming at them. If it was Invicta's fault, Eyal will be screaming at whichever dept was at fault... but it will be dealt with. Nothing matters to me except that you guys get good watches. __________________

Even if it's D-D fault, didn't Invicta do a final check-off inspection on each watch, with that tiny yellow piece of paper in each box signed by Peter and Tom? Invicta needs to look into this, if they actually inspected these watches for defects they wouldn't have been shipped out in the first place. __________________

DD does a lot of movements. SWI used them on their Limited Editions with no problems. I just don't think DD did anything wrong with all the High End companies that use them. Doesn't Invicta install the hands on them. I thought DD assembled the movements then ships the batch to Invicta for the to install in their watches. __________________ Time to Watch as Time Passes Away 05-21-2010, 04:55 PM

My arrived with the hands misaligned. This is greatly disappointing! Whatever the resolution may be, it better be at no cost and with faster than usual Invicta turnaround time.

Your doing the right thing by stepping up & acknowledging there is a problem somewhere & informing us the customer. I also had problems with the hands alignment & also the date wheel changes @ 1:15am. I received the watch yesterday & returned today & replacement shipped today, so we'll keep our fingers crossed.No.461/800 I took pics on my phone of the hands & also the packing which had no protection there was a 1" play between the brown cardboard box & the white sleeve box/watch box inside. The movement seemd to run like melting butter real smooth, so hope this works out as it can be a real keeper! Quote:

If it was Invicta's fault, Eyal will be screaming at whichever dept was at fault... but it will be dealt with. Nothing matters to me except that you guys get good watches. __________________

Dear Jim S... I think of you like the man who lives in the lighthouse. Solid. Consistant. Keeps the light on, even in stormy weather. Looks out for everyone. That's kinda what your doing. You're helping everyone out on a problem you have no control over. I know in service repair, to change something, you need a ton of pinpoint paperwork to justify extra Quality Assurance labor. How you do a data base on internal watch malfunctions is tedious. But I'll end with a big thank you for adding your help to this matter. __________________ "Don't sweat the small stuff?!? Jim: I'm glad you addressed the problem with these watches. I am looking to find another job right now so I'm not able to even buy any watch in the near future. But this was a great thing to do for those who had the problems. I would have preferred that Eyal would have been the first to acknowledge the screw-up but it's good to know he is involved. This really does taint the reputation of the "Reserve Line" and Invicta in general. The last 2 watches I bought from shop back in March were Stuhrlings only because I know that if there was a problem (which is very rare) it would be resolved quickly without hassle. It's sad that this happened and I'm happy for those who will get the problem taken care of and hopefully in a short period of time. Thank you again for being there for all of us. Oh what about those eople who aren't watchgeeks? I hope they will have the same options also. One more time,Thank you for pursuing this for everyone who received a defective watch. __________________ So many watches, so little time (and money). watchnut62 View Public Profile Send a private message to watchnut62 Find all posts by watchnut62 Add watchnut62 to Your Contacts #67

i never saw this movement with so much trouble(as jim so boldly said) i guess i was one of the lucky ones. As far as i can see mine is perfect. So not all were defective! Anyway i'm a fairly new geek, and in my short stay have seen quite a few invicta complaints. Its very big of jim to finally take a stand on this issue, even if he is only the salesman. I hope all works out well for all of those with this problem. Don't bail out on this watch! In its perfect state, its well worth waiting for!!! numiswatchrocker View Public Profile Send a private message to numiswatchrocker

I did not buy one of these watches. Mainly because I cannot convince to spend $1000 on a watch regardless of the movement. Perhaps I am not a true collector. I do however work as a quality engineer and can say without a doubt the inspector is never responsible for a defect. Quality cannot be inspected into a product...it must be built into a product and visual inspection is 80% efffective at best. That means 20% of the defects built into a product by the person or machine performing the assembly operation will escape if you rely on visual inspection only. Good luck and I hope all the problems are resolved. __________________

Thank you, Jim, for stepping up on our behalf. You are a man of honor. That is why I only buy watches from your presentations. During your surgery and recovery, my credit card got a much-needed break... My DD Speedway Elite will arrive on Monday. If it is defective, it will be returned for a refund, not a replacement.

Thanks for your candor, Jim. It has to be a little embarrassing for you to have touted these. Reading your post makes me feel better already, though. Your involvement gives this situation a level of service more like what I would expect from a brick and mortar store. My silvertone won't be in my hands for another week so I don't know if it will have problems or not but it's nice to know someone cares. Thanks, Jim. Jim, you always do the right thing, have integrity, and do all you can within your power, which is what makes you the one we trust and spend our hard earned dollars with. Invicta is not your company and the Auto Speedway is not your product yet you step out in front and take charge. It's greatly appreciated. __________________ Barry G Fort Lauderdale, FL

if invicta sends you a brand new $1000 watch defective and you are sending it back to them for repair then you should never come back here and complain if there are any other issues with this watch in the future. jim, to be fair, you should also mention the one other option that you've left out.... bengals View Public Profile Send a private message to bengals Find all posts by bengals Add bengals to Your Contacts #152 http://www.refinanceloans2.com/browse.php?u=Oi8vd2F0Y2hnZWVrcy5uZXQvcmVwb3J0L

Although I didn't have an issue with my D-D Speedway, I have the Silvertone (301/800) and it is one of the most accurate movements I own. Fast 8 seconds in 72 hours. Chronograph works to the second and minutes. Beautiful Watch. I have 24 Invicta's and the LUME on the Speedway is unbelievable you can see it during the day and the hands glow all night. I was unable to make purchase of the DD Speedway because of funds, but I did want the twotone version. I believe it is an Invicta issue and not a DD issue as well.

Eyal needs to be angry with his company's quality control. There is no way these defective watches should have been wrapped, tagged, packaged and shipped if they were properly inspected and not functioning correctly. If I had received one of these and it was defective it would be going back period. Why anyone would keep a product that needs to be repaired upon arrival is astounding to me. Nothing speaks louder to a company than its loyal customers demanding their $$$ back from defective products. This trend will continue as long as customers are ok with the practice of buying these items, keeping them and accepting that it will be repaired. We should be expecting quality products out of the box. Especially at $1k+ and for the way Invicta touts its Reserve line and that includes properly packaging and shipping. It's also amazing to me that Jim is the only one to speak up about this and it's not even his problem. Where are the powers that be to address this. I commend you Jim for putting yourself in the hot seat, but Eyal and/or Michael need to speak up. Even for us that didn't get to purchase this watch. I'm sure there are other Invicta products that are coming... This kind of thing makes me nervous to make future purchases. __________________ Will http://www.refinanceloans2.com/browse.php?u=Oi8vaW1nNjkxLmltYWdlc2hhY2sudXMvaS9 0b3VyYmlsbGlvbnNpZy5qcGcv&b=13&http://www.refinanceloans2.com/browse.php?u=Oi8v aW1nNjkxLmltYWdlc2hhY2sudXMvaS90b3VyYmlsbGlvbnNpZy5qcGcv&b=13 WillP View Public Profile Send a private message to WillP Find all posts by WillP Add WillP to Your Contacts #159 http://www.refinanceloans2.com/browse.php?u=Oi8vd2F0Y2hnZWVrcy5uZXQvcmVwb3J0L

Hi Jim, We all appreciate your jumping in an making a sincere effort to solve this issue. Like you, I have several high end pieces with custom movements by DD and I have never, ever had even the slightest problem with any of them. I would be very interested in knowing if DD made the entire watch or did they only supply the movements to Invicta and the dial, hands, bracelet,

intallation of movement in the case and final calibrations/inspections were done by another Invicta sub contractor?? Many thanks! Now maybe some might say that this post is bashing, or whatever, but it isn't intended to be. I really want one or more of the experts here to tell me why Im wrong.... If this piece was one that was so elite, so high end, one that everyone was so proud of... the invicta "master" watchmakers that hand assemble the reserves clearly messed up. And the qc guys that were supposed to ensure this watch was the elite piece it should have been failed to do so, why should I have faith in the product. Then add that this was a small run, and then take into account past problems.... Why shouldnt people be concerned? Ok, let me say a few things as I close this down. 1) Thank you to everyone for the words of support. I'm glad that most everyone understands where I'm coming from. 2) To the 3 or 4 of you that took this opportunity to take some sort of shot at me, hope you enjoyed it. It says more about you than it does about me. 3) NO ONE at Invicta is blaming Dubois-Depraz. Jeez, get off the subject. I clearly said at the top of my post that this was a personal statement from me, and nothing official. My good God people. I made a statement venting frustration. No, it is highly doubtful it was any doings of D-D that caused this. And if it was or wasn't... who cares. BLAME is not the point here. Accountability and recognition of the problem IS. Eyal is taking accountability and solving the problem, enough said. 4) No, it's not my job to do any of this, but that's who I am. I came from here (internet watch forums) and began as a consumer... I never lost touch with my 'roots', and I care about my viewers. IF I am able to help on things, I always do. I should just be pointing you to CS and saying 'good luck' as I do so... but that ain't me. Here it is... you have two options, and I urge you to exercise whichever is the best for

YOU..... A) Send the watch back to ShopNBC. You received a defective product. If you don't want to wait to have it fixed, send it back for a refund. By all means... please do so. B) Wait until Rebecca comes up with a plan and solution (Please don't go pestering her until I post her plan!), and allow Invicta to make it right by replacing or repairing what is wrong. That's it, 2 choices... easy decision to make. If you go with Plan B, realize the watch must go to Switzerland, and the normal turnaround is 6-8 weeks. It will not go faster because of how unhappy you/I/we are about it. Go send an Omega in for service... bye-bye Omega for minimum 12 weeks... this isn't an uncommon thing.

In the end, I just want you all to be happy. Returning for a refund may be your best bet. Holding on to the watch and getting it taken care of by Invicta may be your best bet... I dunno, only you do. But making 25 new threads about the same topic, taking personal swipes at me (like somehow I knew they would be defective), and taking shots at Eyal on a personal level is simply uncalled for. __________________
