check this out Key brands to look for in 2011 include Breitling, Richard Mille and Montblanc. Investment: Get the current Rolex Explorer II while you can and keep it safely boxed. "Large watches are no fad, but are here to stay." Click here to follow AskMen Fashion on Twitter. Most 25- to 45-year-old men try to stay away from the conservative watches that remind them too much of their father’s (or even grandfather’s) watch. Although it doesn’t hurt to have a classic-looking timepiece to pair with a suit for a formal occasion, it’s the sports watches that get the most attention. So, what will become the trend for sports watches in 2011? The Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) 2011 exhibition in Geneva tells us that the black PVD and DLC watches are still going strong in the coming year(s). Also, the ever-growing diameter of watchcases does not end in 2011. Large watches are certainly no fad, but are here to stay. A nice example of these ongoing trends is represented by Montblanc with its Time Walker TwinFly Chronograph. Richard Mille introduced another tourbillon sports watch: the RM017 Tourbillon Extra Flat in rose gold combined with titanium.

I agree but you will find that they stop at 48mm MAYBE a couple hit 50 but most "large" pieces to them are 46-48. What he said -^ In the context of SIHH I don't think "large" means what you think it means. That and Europa Star managed to pick up an impression diametrically opposed to the writers of Ask Men:

http://www.europastar.com/magazine/f...etreat-of.html Excerpt: Quote: The ‘elements of their communication language’ had been carefully chosen and the collections they were about to reveal bore witness to this strict selection: ‘rigour, classicism and thinness’ would be the key words this year. But for those diehard macho fans of the ‘Hummers’ of the wrist or those amorous of bling bling, they need not worry. There will always be something for everyone and, despite this neo-classic offensive, they will have no trouble finding, here or there, what they require to adorn their substantial wrists Which I would take as "trending smaller but don't worry about it". Lastly, SIHH isn't Basel. The results may not be the same and, much like the above example, will not be reported or interpreted the same by all journalists.

+1 The international scene is much different than here, but there still is a place for the 50mm+ watches that have become quite popular. __________________

Big to them is 44-46 and at the highest 48mm not a 55mm monster or even a 50mm Invicta mid-size. __________________

Doesn't Pan. have a 70mm watch and of I remember correctly Movado made one too. Many respected brands make 50mm + watches. They are not going anywhere.

Obviously, Montblanc and Richard Mille are extraordinary timepieces, but to use pieces with 50 and 300 unit productions as examples of a large watch trend is a myopic view at best. Even the size... 43mm for the Montblanc, and 38mm across for the Richard Mille... as examples of "large watches" is another indication of the swiss old-boy direction of the media.

I really hope Android and Invicta get the attention and respect they have earned at Baselworld. They've earned the right. __________________ “The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once." - Albert Einstein
