For Meijin - Customer Rebuttal Comment on Speedway Movement Michael, I was watching a video on the blue-faced original quartz Speedway today, and it featured you presenting the item. In it, you stated Invicta had changed the movement due to comments from customers preferring that the large second-marking hand, normally reserved for the chronograph function, serve as the second hand for the time-of-day function. I'm writing now to give you at least one rebuttal comment on that idea: Do NOT do that with the movement anymore, and instead keep the large hand as the chronograph hand. Without the large hand being the chrono, you can't use any sort of a tachymeter properly. Also, I very often use the chrono not only as a timer, but as a reminder that I am timing something (often the parking meter). That's very hard to do when you barely notice it's running. It seems to me that perhaps your customers desiring a large moving second hand should opt for a threehand or GMT movement watch like the pro diver. They must not really want a chrono. Perhaps they want the look of a chrono -- then in that case Invicta sells many quality multi-function calendar watches. But what you've done here is discourage your customers who love the original Speedway, and want a real chronograph. Now no such option exists at all. I own at least six original Speedies, and dozens of Invictas including the Reserve collection and diamond, ruby, sapphire, and tsavorite gem'd watches (my Mountain Dew and Pepsi watches, as I say). But my absolute favorite line of watches is my original Speedway collection. In fact, i stay away from the newer speedways, as they are not in the same vein as the originals. I've been wanting to add the blue face Speedie to my collection, but have been waiting for a year or two until Invicata updates the quality of the original (solid end links, crystal, clasp, etc.), but keeps the same size and case design. Even better if they'd use a sunray dial like they did with the blue two-tone I have. But alas they have not. So when I went to purchase the bluefaced SS today, and saw your video focus on the new movement modification, I declined to make the purchase. So you are having a negative impact in ruining the focus of a chronograph, with at least one customer. Perhaps others -- maybe we'll see on this thread.... or maybe i stand alone. Anyway, thanks in advance for reading.

Regards, Skyler

IMO - you stand alone. You have made the presentation all about you and your feelings/opinions on how to utilize the complications. My "gut" thought is, given the fact the Mike does a "gazillion" presentations, you couldn't just let this one go? Or, in other words, "dude, relax..." Just because Mike's title is Technical Brand Manager, does not mean we (the vast majority of customers) want to feel like we are in law school every time a watch is presented. We are collectors with our own unique taste and opinions and, at the end of the day, Mike is on T.V. to "sell" us watches. He is doing a great job at just that, "selling us watches". If one would step away from the tree; the forest would become more visible. __________________ Nolad

Mike sells watches he doesnt build or manufacture them. __________________

i think it is just opinion and taste. my pops likes big second hand, i could care less either way. guess you gotta just do some hunting to find the originals like you said, there are a ton of models out there, so find one that fits you. not every watch invicta makes is my taste, and if they change one i do like, i just simply move on and look the other way. and as far as using it as a tachymeter, you still can, just use the normal second hand or sync your chrono with the timing of the second and. problem solved. __________________

Skyler speaks what's on his mind. You might take note until you own stock in Invicta they may not change it for you alone. However one person's voice usually represents sometimes hundreds of others that are silent. Maybe they will change it. Humility has it's virtues. __________________

I agree with the OP 100% but Invicta is not going to change their manufacturing design based on the complaint of one. Don't expect a change my friend but I'm glad you voiced your concern

Skyler raises some good points in his review of this issue. What ever Invicta does, his points, might help in the way some of us judge,or evaluate a time piece going forward. Thanks for your insight Skyler.

There's a forum for this....Feedback and Special Requests. Singling out Michael in the General forum will accomplish nothing. Quote: Originally Posted by daycoo2

I agree with the OP, should have kept it the same and why not fix the end link problem too. __________________ rbart
