watchme52 Junior Member New Geek rose gold layering warranty issue

I am really mad. I sent my wife's watch (Invicta ladies diver with chocolate diamonds on the bezel, rose gold bracelet and white MOP dial) in for service under the warranty (5 year platinum) purchased 3 years ago because the rose gold layering was wearing off in numerous places. All I hear from Eyal and Jim on shopnbc is how good the layering is and that it should never wear off under normal usage. I have purchased numerous watches from Invicta and found that to be the case. Only 1 time did the rose gold layering start to wear and I sent it in and the watch was promptly replaced. I received an email and a phone call from invicta telling me I had to pay $100.00 to replace the bracelet. When I asked why isn't this covered by the warranty, I was told that because the wearing off of the rose gold layering was due to normal wear and tear and this is not covered by the warranty. I was shocked because one of the selling points of Invicta watches with rose, yellow gold or black IP plating is that it will not wear off under normal conditions. My wife rotates her watches so its not as if it is the only watch she has. I am really disappointed. I gave them my credit card to pay the 100.00 so I could get the watch back because my wife really likes this watch. Has anyone had this problem with the plating wearing off or Invicta's CS giving a response like this? watchme52

I would be pretty pissed as well. Have you spoken with Eyal or one of the Supervisors? __________________

I havn't had to go this route so far, but I kinda remember many times mentioned the same as you on the layering under "normal wear & tear. __________________

What I learned from fellow watch geeks and my own experience is that if its plated, layered

or coated, it's going to wear. __________________

I thought the same thing u thought that with normal use the this so called special layering will NOT wear off and I don,t want 2 spend 100.00 to get it fixed!!!!!! Thank u for your post i DIDNT KNOW WHAT 2 do with that invicta watch, It looks like a cheap watch when u look at it because the gold is so badly worn and I don,t wear it because off that!!!! __________________ joel m kaminsky invictaman111 View Public Profile Send a private message to invictaman111 Find all posts by invictaman111 Add invictaman111 to Your Contacts #10 Yesterday, 05:55 AM

Yes

I had it happen with my Grand Diver. It was wearing off on the bracelet pretty badly after a year on normal use. I called and was told the same thing you were, it's now on a microfiber strap and it looks just fine to me. It was the first and last gold tone Invicta that I will buy. So much for what is said on the air - meaningless. __________________ Walk softly and carry a big stick! If they are saying on TV that it wont wear under normal usage and that if it does its covered under warranty, you u have recourse. If they state on TV its covered, then it is an implied warranty and must be repaired as such. Now all you have to do is supply a tape proving the statement.
