My Non-Swiss Made Arrived Today and...

...well I was stuck between to mid-sized Akula's that was a Father's Day gift from my kids on Sunday. Both were Invicta Reserve Akula watches which I always believed all Reserves to be Swiss Made and Hand Assembled like the ton of threads flying on here this week. Well, the mid sized Akula model with the Chronograph movement is the one I purchased...and you guessed it...it only said Swiss on the face meaning now that is was made in China as I learned this week. So anyway, the watch arrived today and here are chronological order of events: 1. Open shipping box and I see a Yellow Invicta outter watch box NOT the Black Reserve box... so I say "ok", 2. The outter Invicta box looks a little worn like it was handled a few times before...so I say "ok", 3. I take out the inner Yellow watch box (NOT Black Reserve) and the Invicta tissue paper is torn and ragged looking, never seen that before...ok I say, 4. I open the watch box and the watch is in a odd position on the pillow like for sure this watch has been off before...ok I can deal, 5. I remove this long tube like plastic covering the watch so I can look at it closely and make sure all the functions work correctly especially the Chronograph functions so I do a test and guess what? 6. The Chrono runs fine and stops perfectly, but when I went to reset the dial functions the second and 1/10 second did not zero out...not even close! 7. So I go for the instruction manual to see if I can zero them out...and guess what? 8. I look and look and NO freaking instruction manual with the watch!!! It took me all of 10 minutes to fill out the return papers and ship it back to The Shop!!! Pretty frustrated not only learning this "Reserve" was made in China and not getting a true Swiss Made piece it was a Father's Day gift to boot so my kids were upset with the events today as well. Know what though? I love this piece so I went online to The Shop and ordered me what I really wanted the Akula 6447 GMT (See Avatar) that is truly Swiss Made possibly Hand Assembled timepiece (think this time I'll get a Reserve Box?). Really bummer day BUT with a good ending...now the wait begins again Peace friends!

Your problem here was not an Asian watch but a ShopNbc watch that had been returned and resold. If you asked anyone here how to zero out the chrono hands you would have had dozens of replies on how to do it. many chrono's from many different brands will come with the chrono hands not zeroed. this happens during rough handling in the shipping process. if i

were you I would be more mad that ShopNbc repackaged a return. Hope the next one comes the way it should for you. curiousgeorge View Public Profile Send a private message to curiousgeorge Find all posts by curiousgeorge Add curiousgeorge to Your Contacts #4 Today, 05:58 PM Join Date: Jan 2009 Posts: 900

you do know that the swiss made version probably has 49% made in china right? also with all due respect, hands not aligning is not Invicta's fault, you could have even come here and asked how to calibrate where ppl with that movement would have been happy to help __________________

Sorry for your frustration .... but, I'm pretty sure there was no need to return your watch. Recalibrating the reset position of the chrono hands is a super simple thing to do. If the manual was missing, the instructions are on the Invicta website, or I'm sure one of the CS people would have been happy to walk you through the process if you would call them .... or, you could have got the instructions here by just coming on and asking. __________________ "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace" - Jimi Hendrix WatchYaThink View Public Profile Send a private message to WatchYaThink Send email to WatchYaThink Find all posts by WatchYaThink Add WatchYaThink to Your Contacts #7 Today, 06:25 PM

Lets all take a chill pill. You can't blame the guy for going with his gut and sending the watch back as soon as he saw it and got a bad feeling! And as far as griping about quality this and quality that, I feel if an individual receives a bad watch from Invicta, the rest of us deserve to hear about it. I for one have received two bad watches in a row from Shop and I felt it was my duty to let you guys know. __________________ Sean

as long as people take it for what it's worth and don't take it to mean that of the 2 million or so watches they sell a year, 1 million or so are messed up for example. how many threads here are about broken or dud cititzen watches, they sell more watches a year than invicta, even a 1% fail rate will be a huge amount of people, yet the citizen population here is so low, some ppl think only Invicta has these problems __________________ I'd rather be a lion for a day than a lamb that lives forever - Canibus krayziehustler View Public Profile Send a private message to krayziehustler Find all posts by krayziehustler Add krayziehustler to Your Contacts #10 Today, 06:31 PM

Tongue in Cheek with the Asian comment guys...come on have a little levity. Really, I was

50/50 between these two Akula's anyway but with all the threads this week about the "Swiss" thing (and I did feel deceived as well), not getting a Reserve Box, knowing the watch was shipped God knows how many time, and how many times it was handled (thus the type of wrapping around the watch), the worn looking watch box, the hand alignment problems and NO FREAKING MANUAL and two bummed out kids it was easy to return it. REMEMBER, I just purchased another one from The Shop so I do have trust (albeit limited now) in both The Shop and The Watch Brand. Put yourself in my shoes and you may, just may, feel like I do. BTW, how many thread counts do I need before I can express emotion G gdevine View Public Profile Send a private message to gdevine Find all posts by gdevine Add gdevine to Your Contacts #12 Today, 06:37 PM Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Boca Raton, FL Posts: 1,347 Real Name: Paul

Nothing wrong with posting your disappointment. It's an obvious return and I can't blame you one bit. We have ton's of geeks here that know how to zero out chrono's, but if something seems wrong it should go back. This is a very common, fixable problem. Good luck with the next one! curiousgeorge View Public Profile Send a private message to curiousgeorge
