Ocean Speedway - Chrono hand??
Just received my new Ocean Speedway. Love it's looks and weight! After having to return (2) DD's both the "newer" one and the original I was a little worried about purchasing another "high end" Invicta. I own over 20 Invicta's all under $400 and never had any problems with those. After reading some of the posts about the Speedway and looking at the presentation I DVR'd it appears that the movement of the chrono hand is indeed "rough" and not as smooth as I would have thought from this movement. Mine is the same way but seems to run smoother after the 30sec mark. (maybe it's just my imagination) I really want to keep this watch but don't want to own something that isn't running the way it's suppose too, regardless whether I use the chrono or not. Just knowing something isn't right will certainly affect my feelings about the watch and the $$$ I spent on it! It would be nice if we could get some "official" clarification on this matter to put our minds at ease and to avoid unnecessary returns! **UPDATE 3/2 ** The watch has stopped running completely! Was wearing it, checked the time and it had stopped ... winding it manually, still doesn't work Sending it back .. I'm done with Invicta's so called "high ebd" watches!

Maybe we could get Mike or Tim to confirm the BPH of this watch. I know they said either 34k or 36k but maybe they were miss informed? Let me be perfectly clear, I'm not accusing them of anything. __________________ Just my 8 cents worth (2 cents adjusted for inflation)

I'm pretty sure there is no such thing as a 34k bph watch, if Mike or Tim really said that, they really do not know what they are talking about and might have make a mistake about the actual bph of this movement. So far the only confirmation that the watch runs at 36K bph is from a representative of Invicta and not from spec sheets. So it's really still up in the air. Actually, I believe Girard-Perregaux started the "High-Beat' craZe back in 1996 with the introduction of their 36,000A/h Masterpiece. At the time, this was the world's FIRST 1/10-sec mechanical chronograph!
However, in the interim, many (MANY!) other 'haute horologerie manufactures' have released their own 'High-Beat' versions, which, to my knowledge are ALL 'in-house' movements not available to the general public 'en masse!' __________________ HI! - I'm Larry & I'm Wacky About Watches -

Not arguing here, but Michael Davis said on his Facebook page that has 34 jewels, and that it's 34,000 beats per hour. That could have actually been a typo of 34,000 (instead of 36,000) because he said it has 34 jewels. Notice both 34's? An easy thing (typo) to do. QUOTE from FB: the SII NE78A automatic chronograph movement that is 34 total jewels and operates at 34,000 bph! QUOTE from Sneek Peeks: the SII NE78A automatic chronograph movement. This is a very new and VERY expensive (more than a Valjoux 7750) 36,000 vph high-beat automatic chronograph movement.

Regardless of what was said about the VPH of the movement, the chrono hand should not "move roughly" or with any stutter, and then start to "smooth out". If it does this, the movement is screwed and I'd send it back.
