Swiss Made from 51% to 80% is that going to affect Invicta? Hey Jim, Since the Swiss watch Industry is passing soon the Law that a watch will at some point in the near future be 80% swiss parts & cased in Switzerland, how will that be affecting Invicta OVERALL, and Invicta Pricing????? NOTE: Current Legal rule (for those who do not know), is that a watch must be 51% Swiss made & cased in Switzerland to say "SWISS MADE" on a watch, this is going to change to 80%!!! All I can say is that the Swiss are smart in keeping thier market share against the soon coming Chinese watch industry. Best Rgds Bill in IL

The entire Swiss watch industry will be heavily affected by this (if it goes through), and while some brands will simply dissapear, others will have to raise their prices as much as 300% and more. I have been saying this for over 3 years. Back when I first started talking about this on my shows, 'other forums' would say how crazy I was... how I was creating a panic to drum up sales. Then someone else said it about 2 years after me... and people finally realized it. Things will get much, much worse. Buckle up, and buy as much Swiss anything while you can.... __________________

Re: Swiss Made from 51% to 80% is that going to affect Invic Wow, wow, wow! Thanks for all the fair warnings, Jim. Makes me even happier to know I actually followed through this time. I think we also should be thankful to ShopNBC and Amazon and others that offered spectacular deals especially over Thanksgiving, as it gave us an opportunity to do just that--get Swiss made while it's more reasonable in price. __________________ DAVID

Isn't 80% Swiss really a more true Swiss timepiece vs a 51% Swiss? I was distressed to learn that Tag and to a degree Omega heavily used Chinese workmanship in their SWISS timepieces. I thought those 2 brands I have were really and truly Swiss. I'm sure my Debraufre , Phillip and others are really 49% Chinese. Wonder what my Paneria is % wise? So long as the watch is well engineered and well made, does it really matter if every screw was made and turned in Switzerland? BTW: Your DeBaufre was built by Grovana, founded in 1924 and located in Tenniken which is in the north-western part of Switzerland – close to Basel. The company is privately owned and thus independent and has been in the hands of the Bitterli family for over 30 years. __________________

Please keep in mind that the closest you are going to come to 100% Swiss Made is the A.O.S.C. or Appellation d’Origine Suisse Certifiée (Swiss Certified Label of Origin) certification from Bedat. Second, keep in mind that there is more at play with the proposed changes to the "Swiss Made" designation than meets the eye. These cahnges are coming from the Federation de I'industrie Horlogere Suisse FH (Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry FH) from the "enforcement' and "regulation" side, but is being driven primarily by Nicolas Hayek of the Swatch Group and the Richemont Group, LVMH (Moët Hennessy • Louis Vuitton S.A) and Rolex. Between these four companies, they make up more than half of the 60 votes within the FH. So, they get to drive the direction and, basically, determine what is going to be law. Combined with the Swatch Group no longer providing movements to non-swatch Group companies as of 2010, it is a great way for them to drive a large number of small and medium sized Swiss based watch companies out of business. __________________ Michael
