Is it just me or do you get satisfaction just looking @ your invictas?
I have often rationalized my collecting of invictas to others (my wife, friends family) and likened it to collecting stamps and coins. Their great to wear but I also get great pleasure in just looking and playing with them. I can think of several watches in my collection that don't get enough wrist time but make me smile and sometimes marvel at their intricacies. My grand diver woody would be a perfect example. Heck when I collected coins as a kid, looking at them was as good as it got! Just wondering am I alone in my thought process. Ooo do tell JMD __________________

Jerry, you are not alone! I pull out my three 8 slot cases each evening deciding which one to wear the next day. Sometimes, I start looking at each one and forget why I opened them up in the first place. They are indeed fun to look at as well as taking the polishing cloth and wiping them down each day!

I think the visual aspect of collecting is very high on the list. I consider the dials almost like art on a wall. We only can wear one watch at a time. You make a great point about stamp and coin collecting;you can't wear either of those! Sometimes I wonder if they just made the watch heads, if we would still buy in quantity? bearralph View Public Profile Send a private message to bearralph Find all posts by bearralph Add bearralph to Your Contacts #32 04-14-2012, 04:43 PM

I like to have them all out as I watch some of the special watch events on the shop. Even if I buy nothing I still enjoy checking out my collection while they are presenting a watch I am not interested in. Like others, each watch has a story to tell. I remember when and why I bought it. I remember how excited I was as well as my fellow employees when it arrived. I remember how it made me feel when I first put it on. I remember each comment I have ever received on each watch. I am also very happy to have a place like this to hang out with like minded people. Rest assured my friend, you are not alone. I regard watches a piece of art and was initially drawn to watch collecting because of the aesthetic appeal of the case and bracelet designs. I tend to appreciate things in a visual way and not in a mechanical sense. I'm the same way with cars. If it looks good, I like it. I don't particularly care what kind of engine it has. I'd rather be broke down along side the ride in a good looking car than driving an ugly car with a great engine. Sounds goofy, I know. gibby62 View Public Profile Send a private message to gibby62 Find all posts by gibby62 Add gibby62 to Your Contacts #37 04-14-2012, 05:43 PM

They are like relationships in life and yes, some are a little closer to the heart than others. Not as much as my newly aquired Thomas Kinkade gallery P/P + G/P prints with DNA matrix signatures but my Brown Bronze Invicta Seamount is a favorite of mine and that my friends is a looker of a watch IMHO.

I too get enjoyment from my Invictas just from looking at them. Of course, this goes for all my watches, not just my Invictas. __________________ Wear what you like. Like what you wear.

I absolutely enjoy looking at, arranging, cleaning etc...my Invictas as all of us do! We have a common bond in that we love our watches! I am comfortable with that. My family has mentioned that I need an intervention because I have almost 20 watches! LMAO! If they only knew the company I keep here.....they would not give me a hard time anymore thats for sure. Feels good to be here...like a warm comfy blanket! Adamantium2112

I ended going in rotation, and now look at my watches and then decide which one hits me that day. So in that sense I do look at my watches most days..... __________________ You mean what time is it now? tampa8 View Public Profile Send a private message to tampa8 Find all posts by tampa8 Add tampa8 to Your Contacts #71 04-16-2012, 05:31 AM Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Boston Mass Posts: 5,618 Real Name: Jim

Nice topic Jerry. I look at my watches every time I pass by them on the dressers. My wife thinks I need a room just for all of the watch boxes. I do stop and look in the boxes to see them and look around when I don't know witch one I want to wear for the day. It certainly is fun, and It does remind me of when I was a kid and
collected coins. Good question, thanks. __________________

Of course I get great satisfaction from looking at my watches, just as I derive
vicarious pleasure from looking at other people's watches; kind of a horological voyeur, I guess. #76 04-16-2012, 11:28 AM

I don't. I keep my watches in my bed side stand in a drawer so I don't really look at them unless they are on my wrist. I guess maybe Im not a true watch geek, lol. __________________

I like to look at them before bed and think about which one I'll wear the next day and what to wear with the watch. I'm looking forward to getting more and charging them all up to get the infamous lume shot. __________________ I need watch rehab. Thebatchelor
