OMG-Did anyone see that Sulu Commercial

OMG-Did anyone see that Sulu Commercial Very poor taste indeed. I'll never watch Star Trek the same again. OMG! Talk about stepping over the boundaries of good taste. This was on PrimeTime TV Too!

LOL if you think that was bad, you should hear George Takai when he guests on the Howard Stern Show! __________________

Please, I would like to know. I work for Sharp Electronics and we are very proud to have George Takai as our spokesperson. He is basically giving an "out of this world" response to the new technology that Sharp engineers invented -- the fourth pixel in an LCD -- YELLOW! Hence, Quattron QUAD Pixel Technology by Sharp Electronics. RGB+Yellow (Red+Blue+Green+Yellow). I am sure the powers that be would be interested in hearing your feedback, so thanks Marc (Shaffer001) for posting the clip of the commercial. I want to hear it all -- the good, the bad and the ugly! BTW, keep an eye out for more commercials featuring George. sandieontheweb View Public Profile Send a private message to sandieontheweb Send email to sandieontheweb Find all posts by sandieontheweb Add sandieontheweb to Your Contacts #10 03-21-2010, 07:26 PM

George is pretty cool IMO. he takes quite a ribbing from the guys on Howard Stern and he rolls with it like a champ. __________________

I still don't get the problem. If George stayed in the closet then it is ok for Sharp to use him as a spokesman, but if he doesn't then he's not fit to pitch a product on television? Is that what you mean? Is this a trekkie thing where you don't want your memory of Sulu besmirched in your opinion or do you just not want to see gay individuals on television, ever? No offense, really, I just am not following what the issue with this is. __________________

I don't get it. George has always been like this even before you knew he was gay. George is very cool IMO and people have been referring to him on Howard as he is the "official announcer". He seems like a very smart and thoughtful man. I'm not gay but being a spokesman for a product does not offend me at all. I really don't understand whats wrong with that clip. amazonracer View Public Profile Send a private message to amazonracer Find all posts by amazonracer Add amazonracer to Your Contacts #13 03-21-2010, 08:14 PM Join Date: Apr 2008 Posts: 942

I don't get what's wrong with it. Is it because of the yellow having to do with his ethnicity? I did not found this in bad taste. __________________

One of the funniest "Family Guy" episodes ever was the one that featured a George Takai portrayal. That's all I will say. __________________ Watches, guns, cars... I need cheaper hobbies.

That's what this is all about? Dude, I don't think that is a blowfish. I could be wrong. Man, you really are reading too far into it. __________________

What in the hell is this thread about? I've watched that spot three times looking for the innappropriate "reaction" to the fish. I didn't see anything. He's reacting to the great color, right? This is the first thread I've followed that makes absolutely no sense to me. I think George is hilarious--don't believe me watch the celebrity roast of William Shatner. That isn't a blowfish maybe a tang or a yellowfish--not exactly sure. clean up your minds guys---this is a forum for watches. hopefully discriminatory remarks like this can be eliminated here---it is tasteless anywhere. keep your remarks to watches. this will be my only response to a non watch related post. thanks for reading.

OK Folks, Knowing that the Network is playing on a Certain Lifestyle, and watching the last 5 seconds, then George's reaction means nothing to you. Maybe I need to hold up those signs that say, "I'm really reading too much into this situation". Darn me, BUT PLEASE KEEP THIS THREAD OPEN MOD's Time Bandit View Public Profile Send a private message to Time Bandit Find all posts by Time Bandit Add Time Bandit to Your Contacts #25 03-21-2010, 09:04 PM Join Date: Apr 2008 Posts: 942

They're two colors short then if that was what they were going for... I think they are using colors to represent the colors of the pixels, because that's what they are doing.
