Simon Jagers
Simon Jagers from Samotics in Leiden loves collecting data. His idea: if you collect all kinds of data about the energy signals that electrical machines emit, you can measure the condition of those machines and figure out when they need maintenance, consequently saving hundreds of thousands in downtime costs in many industries.

Years of research and development followed, resulting in the SAM4 monitoring unit. With the knowledge that electric pump operation can also be measured, the water technology sector became an important target group for Samotics. This is why the company became a member of the Water Alliance through Wetsus. Together, they accelerate research and development.

With Water Alliance’s mediation, British Anglian Water and Samotics came together. The result: The SAM4 was installed on 85 pumps in England, with the potential for further expansion.

Samotics won the Water Alliance WIS Award, generating international attention and increasing market demand. The cooperation with Anglian Water may be expanded, and other markets in other countries are also showing an interest.
