Certificate in Social Personal and Health Education Minor Award to the MA in SPHE (Level 9)

Central to the SPHE programmes at WIT is the development of facilitation skills which will enable participants to work effectively in many settings including schools. The focus on personal development supports participants to discover that when they empower themselves to be well, they can support others to reach their potential to be well. The advanced modules in facilitation skills and personal development provide students with a unique opportunity to build upon their SPHE training to date and further enhance the knowledge, skills, attitudes and competencies resulting in effective facilitation of SPHE with groups, individual, and key populations.

For further information on Level 7 or 8 please contact the course leaders. ■ Assessment will distinguish the different learning levels of students.

■ Upon successful completion, those who opt for Level 9 will be awarded a Certificate in SPHE - Minor Award that they may build upon to acquire an MA in SPHE over time, subject to the feasibility of running the remaining modules at WIT. ■ Participants must attend at least 80% of the course hours in order to pass the course.

“When I was asked to write a testimonial for the Minor Award in SPHE, I thought a lot about what I was going to say about it. However, the truth is, I have no words that can adequately describe what the Minor Award has meant to me... All I can say, is that, having completed the H Dip in SPHE, it was truly “the cherry on the cake”! It “bedded in” the H Dip and used it as a foundation to built upon. It has expanded and enhanced me both personally and professionally. I feel privileged to have been given the opportunity to work at this level in such a safe and supportive environment, and to have this work academically accredited at level 9.

Ann Rackard “SPHE for me has been my Crown and Glory!!! I can now say that the programme gave me the opportunity to discover me from the inside out. Creating the safety for the individual. Bound by a collective group sharing, to be with all that is presenting from past experiences and that is impacting on the present felt experience. It was both challenging and triumphant in its unfolding process. I got to know me and in turn to know you (all of the external world) in a different way. I have stopped wanting the world to be other than it is. Owning my end of it and just be with what is present. The only word that can describe the SPHE process is TRANSFORMATION!!!!! I encourage you to begin, to discover your true self in the collective group process that is SPHE!!!” Martin Doheny, Facilitator/Trainer/Researcher in Men’s Health
