Welcome by Máire Henry, Head of Department of Architecture, Waterford Institute of Technology.
Shane O’Toole is an award-winning architect, historian, curator, broadcaster and campaigner for threatened buildings. He has been President of the Architectural Association of Ireland and Director of the Irish Architecture Foundation, and was Ireland’s Commissioner for the Venice Biennale in 2004 and 2006. He was named IBP Architecture Writer of the Year in 2008, 2009 and 2010 for his critiques in The Sunday Times and Building Design. This year, in addition to opening the Waterford Festival of Architecture, Shane, with the support of the Department of Architecture at WIT, will also conduct a rare public interview with the Waterford architect and artist, Jack O’Hare, who worked with the iconic architect Frank Lloyd Wright.

RIAI Awards Exhibition & official opening of WFA Festival 6pm Vestibule, Theatre Royal FREE Paul Keogh, President of the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland (RIAI) will open its annual Architectural Awards 2010 Exhibition. The exhibition is a major component of the RIAI efforts to illustrate and inform members of the public of the impact of good architecture on their lives.
Film Screening - Man with a Movie Camera 7pm Garter Lane Cinema €8 / €5 Concession (€5 if booked by 25 April) Dziga Vertov was a pioneer of Soviet film-making and Man with a Movie Camera is his masterpiece. This documentary presents the life of a Russian city in the 1920s; the exploration of urban space within the film will be of interest to festival-goers. One of the most unusual, adventurous films of all time. Introduction by Dr. Richard Hayes, Assistant Registrar, WIT.

WIT Architecture Society is teaming up with Waterford Festival of Architecture to create an exciting interactive exhibition. Architectural students will be remodeling images of well known and well loved areas of Waterford City. They will be deliberately introducing dramatic changes to provoke reaction from the general public.

Architecture as an Artform: Student Exhibition of Architect in Residence project for Waterford County Council Tuesday 3 - 17 May Tramore Civic Offices, Tankfield, Tramore In 2011, the Architect-in-Residence project takes place in two Tramorearea schools: Fenor National School and Holy Cross National School in Tramore. This year, under the theme of ‘Architecture and Craftsmanship’ students will develop an understanding of craftsmanship in building, exploring different themes in craft through different eras.
