Dear Great Neck Families … Today we celebrated World Peace Day with our students. Every Great Neck student contributed to our lobby display and participated in a school -wide sing-along. Students worked on learning ‘Light a Candle for Peace’ over the last several weeks and came together on the playground aligned in the shape of a heart and shared the song with all of us. Next week we begin our support of the Sandy Hook promise by celebrating Start with Hello week. The Start with Hello initiative ties directly into our district focus on Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and teaches children about inclusiveness and treating others with kindness and respect. The goal of the program is to reduce social isolation. Following the culmination of these lessons, all classroom teachers will begin implementation of the Second Step program beginning on Monday, October 1st. Please ask your child(ren) about the lessons they may be learning in Second Step, which is one tool we use in our SEL curriculum. Best wishes for a wonderful weekend! - Billie
