CLMS Competes in the National Geographic Bee!  Can you name the river that forms a border between Oklahoma & Texas? 

Do you know the name of the small Asian country that is home to eight of the ten highest mountain peaks in the world?

In early January, all Clark Lane Middle School students took part in the Na onal Geographic Bee, a na onwide compe on which tests students’ geographic knowledge. Each team held a preliminary compe on in their social studies classes. The winning student from each team went on to compete in the CLMS school finals on Friday, January 18th. Parents, teachers and administrators were all invited to observe the final round of the compe on which was held in the studio and broadcast throughout the school. School principal Jim Sachs served as the proctor of the bee. First place was awarded to Ian Li (grade 6)~ Congratula ons, IAN! Second place went to Kenji Desai (grade 7) and Chris Meninno (grade8) came in third. Ian will take an exam to qualify for the Connec cut State Finals of the Geography Bee to be held this spring. The other students that made it to the school finals included sixth graders Cole Baumgartner & Paige Jessuck, seventh grader Sarah Hage (her second year making it to the school finals), and eighth grader Kyra Tuckwood & Will Rivers (his second year making to the school finals). Congratula ons to all of these students on such an impressive accomplishment. Answers: the Red River, Nepal

High School Transition information for 8th Grade Parents All 8th grade students have attended an Intro to WHS assembly where they learned a little about WHS and heard from current WHS students. Within the next week, all 8th grade students will have a class lesson with Mrs. Dolce to learn more specific information about the WHS schedule, better understand the classes available to freshman and create a draft schedule. During these lessons, 8th graders will also receive the WHS Program of Studies to review with their parents. Students and their parents will have the month of February to learn about the classes offered at WHS and have the opportunity to speak or meet with Mrs. Dolce if they have any questions. During the first week of March, 8th graders will go to the computer lab at school and register for their WHS classes with Mrs. Dolce. Please contact Mrs. Dolce if you have any questions. Don’t forget the Parent Night at WHS– This TUESDAY evening, January 29th at 6:30 PM. For those parents who cannot make it, a informational session will be held in the CLMS library on February 5th at 9:00 AM.
