Stuff the Bus 2018 On Thursday, November 8th, CLMS students, at the direction of the Student Council and Wingmen, donated over 1000 food items for the Stuff the Bus Event which supports the Waterford Youth Services Holiday Program serving those in need of holiday meals. This number surpasses last year's count of 869 items. Way to go Clark Lane!

WINGMAN WEDNESDAYS Throughout the month of November, students are engaging in activities centered on the theme of thankfulness and gratitude. One of the activities this month was students making cards for Veterans that will be delivered to veterans on Honor Flight New England.

WINTER ATHLETICS INFORMATION In order to participate in a winter sport, all interested students must go to CLMS Nurse for forms to participate: *Up-to-date physical on file (within last 13 months) *Parent permission form *Concussion informed consent form *Sudden Cardiac informed consent form Swimming - signups are now open for all 6-8th graders, boys and girls, who want to join the CLMS swim team? First day is Nov. 26. All team members need to swim at least a 25 yard freestyle without stopping. These are not swim lessons, but a competitive middle school team.

This is the title of a school-wide challenge for CLMS students to identify 39 current staff members through their middle school photos!

Ask them about who they’ve been able to figure out, and consider sharing with them your middle school picture if they haven’t seen one yet! It’s been fun to share with them the changes in clothing and hair styles!!

Our first concert is on November 13th (snow date 11/15).

This is for 7th and 8th grade ensembles and is an informal, informative performance. An Informance. It will be held in the Clark Lane field house at 6:30. Ensemble members should find out from their teachers what time to report. Dress code for this performance: Waterford Music T-Shirt. See your ensemble directly immediately if you need to purchase one ($7). If you ordered one, it will be here in time for the performance.

Congratulations to 30 of our young musicians who auditioned for the Eastern Region Middle School Festival! We are proud of everyone who put forth the extra effort it takes to prepare an audition. Several of these students had high enough scores to be accepted into the ensembles. Well done!

On October 27, six singers from the 7th and 8th grade Choruses took part in the American Choral Directors Association Honors Choir Conference. These six spent the day with Dr. Jonathan Richter making beautiful music. They performed in a concert at the end of the day with the High School Honors Choir. This was possible because they spent hours on their own learning the music beforehand.

UPCOMING FUNDRAISER!!

Shop at Five Below between Nov 18– 24 and CLMS PTO will receive a donation based on a percentage of sales made with the attached flier (A hard copy will be sent home with your child next week!). This fundraiser includes Black Friday, so if you are out doing holiday shopping, remember to support the PTO while you shop!!

OTHER UPDATESThe 8th grade dance committee met on Thursday, November 8th. Look for an upcoming email about the theme that was determined and how all parents can help secure donations of decorations and food for this special event.

The PTO recently made their annual contributions to each team at CLMS. Funds go to supporting events and field trips that enrich the school experience for your children.

A reminder that there are several easy ways for you to support the PTO. See the PTO website for details of all of these: 1– No frills donation– click on the link to the website above to make a donation through Paypal– or simply send a check to school– envelope marked “PTO.” Suggested family donation is $25.

2– Goodwill donation bin– located in school parking lot– PTO receives a donation per pound of items donated to Goodwill! Remember this way to support the PTO while cleaning out this fall!

3– Box tops– simply cut box tops off packages of products you use in your house. Start saving now. School collection will be in January! See attached flier.

4– Amazon Smiles– Shop on Amazon? If so, simply follow the directions at smiles.amazon.com to select CLMS PTO, and a portion of your shopping sales is donated to the PTO.
