SWIM TEAM SUCCESS!!!

Results of the Middle School Swimming/Diving State Championships:

The team performed very well with improvements in me. The swimmers/diver that par cipated had to make a me cut to be eligible to par cipate. We had 14 students a end.

The girls team (Charlo e Morin, Ella Murray, Liz Blain, Julia Gathy, Liz Saucier, Pankhudi Prasad, Camille Caldrello, Adeline Steinhaus and Lilian Steinhaus) finished in 8th place.

The boys team ( Ethan Jones, Noah Westko , Paul Deon, Jack Donovan, Alex Startz) finished 11th.

The combined team finished 9th place.

CLMS has another state champion. Camille Caldrello, 8th grader, earned the gold medal in Diving and is the Middle School CT state champion. She showed great poise and amazing acroba c skill in her dives, while just started diving a few months ago.

The accolades for some of the other swimmers include: Ella Murray ribbon 24th place 50 freestyle, Liz Blain, 19th place ribbon, 50 Breaststroke, Julia Gathy, 15th place ribbon 100 IM, 15th place ribbon 50 Breaststroke Liz Saucier, 18th place ribbon, 100 Freestyle; 12th place ribbon, 50 Backstroke Lilian Steinhaus, 6th place medal, 100 IM; 4th place medal, 50 Breaststroke Noah Westko , 19th place ribbon 100 IM; 17th place ribbon 50 Breaststroke Paul Deon, 21st place ribbon 100 freestyle; 17th place ribbon 50 bu erfly Jack Donovan, 18th place ribbon, 100 freestyle; 14th place ribbon, 50 backstroke Alex Startz, 10th place ribbon, 100 IM; 9th place ribbon 50 bu erfly.

And a compliment from a meet official: He said that CLMS was a well disciplined team that has a solid grasp of the fundamentals of swimming!

The Osprey CSI team practiced blood typing this week and solved the case using their results! Students identified the blood types of the victim, the blood found at the crime scene, and the two suspects. Using the data, students were able to conclude that Suspect #1 was guilty.

Thank you to Waterford Elected Officials who took time out of their days to visit CLMS and other WPS schools to get a close-up look at education in 2019!! We appreciate your support!

Attention 6th Grade Parents Mandatory Physicals

In order to fulfill Connecticut State Requirements, the Board of Education requires each student to have a comprehensive health physical before th starting 7 grade. The date of this physical must be between June 12, 2018 (the last day of 5th grade), and Aug 28, 2019 (the first day of 7th grade). This is over a 13 month period in which to get the physical . In addition to this, all students must have completed the following immunizations in order to enter 7th grade:  Proof of the Tdap vaccine  At least 3 Polio (OPV/IPV) immunizations, with the last one being completed on or after the child’s 4th birthday.  2 Measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR) immunizations  3 Hepatitis B vaccinations  Proof of chickenpox disease OR 2 Varicella (chickenpox) vaccines  A health physical dated after June 12, 2018  Blood work must be done with this physical. Either a hematocrit

(Hct) or a Hemoglobin (Hgb), dated after June 12, 2018  Proof of a Meningitis vaccine (McV4)  Proof of 2 Hepatitis A vaccines This Waterford Board of Education and State of Connecticut requirement states that any student who has not fulfilled these requirements will not be allowed to begin 7th grade and will be held out of school until the requirements are completed. The last dance for our graduating 8th graders will be on Friday, June 7th.

Please help us make this make this a fun and memorable night for our graduates. We are requesting a $5 donation from each student to help pay for the cost of food, entertainment and decorations.

Please send the $5 in an envelope marked “ Kari-Ann Antonelli - 8th grade dance” and have the student drop it off in the main office.
