A Message from Ms. Shea ~

April 12, 2019

It is hard to believe how quickly this year is passing. Upon our return from April vacation, we will only have 8 short weeks left in the school year and there are many exciting events and field trips during that time. If you have a child in Grades 3, 4 or 5, please check their folder for information on our upcoming Smarter Balanced Assessment which will begin when we return from vacation. Please encourage your children to simply take their time and do their very best. As you will see in this newsletter, we have had some extra reasons to celebrate here at Great Neck over the recent weeks.

 Mrs. Linda Brailey has been awarded the CONNECTICUT PTA TEACHER

OF THE YEAR and FUND FOR TEACHERS that will

Mrs. Wendy McCabe has been awarded a $3,000 grant from allow her to travel to Colorado this summer for a purposeful, professional development opportunity that will significantly benefit our students and staff.

 A tremendous thank you goes out to our Music Department --- Mrs. Milukas, Mr. McCleary, Mrs. Nelson and Mr. Chiappetta for putting on an amazing Spring Concert! Our students have worked so hard this year and delivered a top notch performance!

 Thank you to Mrs. Paquette for coordinating the display of student art to coincide with the Spring Concert. She leads our students through the creation of many wonderful pieces and we are thrilled that you had the opportunity to stop by to see what our students are working on in Art Class. Thank you to all of our families for your support!

 A big thank you also goes out to our Grade 3 teachers --- Mrs. Dempsey, Mrs. Rahr and Mrs. Degiacomo for hosting a very informative Biography Night. The student presentations were fantastic! I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very relaxing April vacation. See you all back at school on Monday, April 22nd. Enjoy!
