Message from the Principal
Hello and thank you for another wonderful week at Oswegatchie! Fourth graders took a trip today to the Florence Griswold Museum for the annual Wee Faerie Village exhibit. If you happen to visit the exhibit, look for the house labeled “B”, as that is the Oswegatchie creation! Photos will follow next week. This year, Waterford elementary schools will be rolling out Zones of Regulation, an instructional and interactive approach to assist all students in identifying and regulating emotions. Kits will soon be distributed to classrooms for a November initiation, but we need your help! Oswegatchie is looking for volunteers to help organize these kits. On Thursday October 11, we have 10 volunteer slots in each of the following blocks of time: 9-10, 10-11, 1112. If you are interested, please email me at jmacrino@waterfordschools.org with “Zones Volunteer” in the title, and the time frame you would like to sign up for. First come, first served! There will be a 5th Grade Promotion meeting on Tuesday, October 9th at 6:45 in the Library at OSW. Parents of current 4th and 5th graders: SBAC scores are in the mail as of today. Attached to the weekly newsletter email is a letter explaining SBAC with links for more information. Are your children getting school breakfast? Give it a try. Now that we have grab-and-go breakfast, students come in, grab their breakfast, and head up to the classroom to eat and learn right away!
