On Monday evening, March 4, 2024, Watergate at Landmark Condominium Unit Owners Association (WAL) unit owners will hold the 47th Annual Elections! AH!!!
How do the processes & procedures happen to culminate our Election smoothly, easily for our WAL owners?
The first step is a dedicated group of owners who Volunteer to work together, beginning 6 or 7 months prior to that first important Monday of March every year.
The Elections Committee needs volunteers to help in creating the Voting Process calendar, Packets for Candidates of the Board of Directors and setting up Town Hall dates for candidates to tell us why they are qualified, among other things. The Elections Committee is very fortunate, because “the proverbial wheel” of Processes and Procedures is already created. It is the duty of the committee to make the updated changes and make sure all of the voting information is publicized, etc.
Please read the “Solicitation for Election Committee Members” posters in the Bulletin Boards in your building lobby with the information for turning in your name and interest in JOINING the 47th ANNUAL ELECTIONS COMMITTEE by August 23. The names of the committee members will be selected at the August 29th Board of Directors meeting.
In July, a new parking policy took effect to optimize delivery services within the community. In an effort to ensure the smooth flow of deliveries and enhance convenience for all, designated delivery parking spaces will be strictly enforced from 7 a m to 7 p m each day
To facilitate seamless deliveries, any non-delivery vehicle found parked in these designated spaces during the specified hours will be subject to immobilization by our diligent Patrol Services team without prior notice Please note that courtesy notices will no longer be issued This measure is implemented to guarantee that these essential parking spots are reserved solely for delivery drivers, who play a vital role in transporting items ranging from food to furniture, ensuring swift and efficient services to both businesses and the public.
Delivery Drivers are defined at WAL as those who collect items and transport them to their destinations. Delivery drivers convey a variety of items, ranging from food to furniture, and may deliver to other businesses or to the public
The Board of Directors recently approved a mail delivery system by assigning one dedicated space per building exclusively for USPS postal carriers.
These spaces have been strategically located in close proximity to the lobby, ensuring a more efficient and convenient mail delivery experience for all. Please keep these spaces available for mail carriers

Last month, the Watergate community came together for an enchanting storytelling show, sponsored by the Watergate Book Club, which left everyone brimming with joy and laughter. The event featured the renowned and award-winning storyteller, Sufian Zhemukov, who offered an exclusive preview of his upcoming performance at the prestigious Jonesboro Storytelling Festival in October
The most moving story was about becoming an American citizen; Sufian almost blew it with his answer to the last question. His friends, unable to be with him during COVID, waited in the freezing cold, and when Sufian emerged a sworn American citizen, they welcomed him by singing "This Land is Your Land"/ By the end of the show, the entire audience was singing this song and applauding Sufian's performance.
I had the opportunity to open the event with my own story to warm up the audience. Stephanie Garibaldi, an awarding winning storyteller and co-founder of a new storytelling group in Alexandria" housed in Murphy's Grand Irish Pub in Old Town, acted
as the host for the evening. None of this would have been possible without the collective efforts of the Watergate community. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to the Communications Manager, Activities Office, Environmental Services, Resident Services, and, of course, to each and every one of you the spirited audience who made this extraordinary event happen
Did you know Congress declared the 1st Sunday of August as National Friendship Day? This month, WAL's Pet Committee picked two furry best friends as the Pets of the Month Meet Prince Milo and King Arthur This dynamic duo tends to be inseparable around WAL
Milo and Arthur are best friends, often dressed alike, and of the same breed, so people always think they are brothers. They are not; they have two separate owners and come from different Watergate parents. Milo’s mom is April from Bldg. 4 and Arthur’s mom, Melissa Bldg. 3. Furthermore, they just tend to be inseparable. Milo is three, and Arthur is one. They met during the first week Arthur arrived at Watergate and hit it off immediately. They loved each other and the parents of each owner. It was and is adorable to see how they greet each other.
Milo took on the big brother task to Arthur, being gentle with Arthur when he was a puppy. Milo took on
the big brother task to Arthur, being gentle with Arthur when he was a puppy. Arthur has tons of energy and loves to play with Milo. We call it their MMA time. Once they are done play fighting, they pass out for a nice long nap, wake and start all over again. Arthur is fearless with other dogs, while Milo is cautious, especially with big dogs; however, once he gets to know the dog, he is ok.
