Watermans part of Apprentice Producer scheme
Watermans has been selected to work in partnership with the Mayor of London and The Albany, Barbican, English National Ballet and Roundhouse to support young adults keen on a career in producing outdoor events. Under the Culture Squad 2012 scheme, five full-time paid apprenticeships are being offered to give five people the chance to help produce London’s ambitious outdoor festival during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Each apprentice will spend a year at one of the arts organisations which will train and support them; they will also be mentored by a festival producer. The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said: “Culture Squad 2012 is a fantastic opportunity for young Londoners… to learn from some of the best producers in the business.” Moira Sinclair, Executive Director London, Arts Council England said: “[This]… offers a wonderful opportunity to work in some of the capital’s best arts organisations and to gain a qualification at the same time…” Watermans looks forward to announcing the name of its new apprentice in the new year.

News from West London’s premier arts centre
Watermans is helping to light up Hounslow town centre with the help of our friends in the borough and thanks to the Mayor of London’s Outer London Fund. Hounslow has been awarded £499,000 for a number of projects to keep the streets buzzing. In October , over 4,000 people of all ages enjoyed a free show produced by Watermans to celebrate the switching on of the seasonal lights in Hounslow High Street by the Mayor of Hounslow. With music and entertainment from well-known BBC DJ Ritu, The Bollywood Brass Band and a Fire Show by FlameOz (pictured), the evening finished with a drive-in screening of top Bollywood film, Devdas.

In December, Watermans produced the two-day Winter Celebration event which included Feltham Arts’ Festive Lanterns with children from Orchard School and Grove Road School, supported by music from the Hounslow Music Service. This was followed the next day by performances by Britains most famous juggling performers Gandini Juggling and their amazing Glow Clubs (pictured below) supported by dance from West Thames College.
