Irvine Welsh, a Scottish Novelist well known for his 1993 novel Trainspotting, has a variety of other books exploring Scotland, the dialect and what life in Scotland is like. A Decent Ride has been described as Irvine’s funniest and filthiest book yet. Based in Edinburgh, A Decent Ride features the main character of Terry Lawson who is shameless and comical. Be prepared to read it in a Scottish accent and enjoy the wild ride.

Scar Tissue is a brilliant autobiography of Anthony Kiedis. If you are a Red Hot Chili Peppers fan, you will already know he is the lead singer. This autobiography is quite intense, and does mention hardcore drug usage, but explains the harrowing and entertaining life story of Anthony. Complete with coloured and black & white photos to create an immersive read.
