Description

NEW LOW-DRAG, NO-PULLEY BRIDLE LINES

Our NEW high-quality spliced, pre-stretched bridle lines are pre-loaded and measured before cutting to improve accuracy and consistency. This results in reduced shrinkage, reduced elongation and improved longevity. Removing ALL pulleys from the bridle improves safety and gives the kite direct and precise handling.

NEW LIGHTWEIGHT REINFORCED CANOPY

In 2021 we’ve replaced some of the heavier dacron on our kites with a NEW lighter weight strategic canopy reinforcement. This adds strength and elongation control and protects the lighter inner main canopy body. The result is a durable kite that can hold its profile for increased performance and lift, but is also more dynamic, flexible and can twist to turn. Because the new fabric is more conforming to the inflated structure, it creates a smoother, cleaner entry on the profiles.

2-STAGE ARC DESIGN

Our two-stage arc design incorporates a flattened, more open arc shape through the central power-producing region of the kite, where the energy is most useful for you performance-wise. Pulling the wingtips in towards the rider gives the kite more responsive steering and the smoothest transition of the profile attack angles when it’s under load. A wide-span, flattened arc kite like the Orbit makes the most use of its projected area, for greater efficiency, power, hangtime and drive. As the arc shape becomes narrower the kite uses less of its area, giving it a smaller turning radius for tighter turns, and less pull/power in turns. A narrower span kite such as the Carve is fast in flight, with less power overall.

AERODYNAMIC PROFILE TRANSITION PANELS

We’ve added an extra panel that connects to the leading edge seam to ensure a precise lateral profile shape is maintained as close to the leading edge as possible, creating a smooth transition from the segmented leading edge to the curved canopy so the profiles are more uniform throughout the entire wing. The panels reduce inconsistencies in the profile, resulting in a smoother, more efficient kite, with more aerodynamic airflow and less turbulence.

DURALITE SEAM PROTECTION

Lightweight reinforcement to protect from chafing and abrasion along the struts to the leading edge. Thin foam padding is inserted underneath to form a lightweight durable buffer which lifts the kite slightly off rough surfaces, and protects the stitching along the struts and leading edge seams.

PERSONALISED PERFORMANCE TUNING OPTIONS

Bar pressure and steering impulse can be adjusted on the wing tip, allowing you to fine tune the kite’s characteristics to your personal preference.

HYPERFLOW RAPID SINGLE-POINT INFLATION

High volume single point inflation system with larger diameter hose for rapid inflation and deflation. Bayonet style main inflation valve compatible with most pumps. No adapter needed.

PREMIUM TEIJIN D2 TECHNO FORCE CANOPY

D2 Ripstop Fabric by Teijin. Premium high-density canopy material made in Japan, using high tenacity polyester yarn for lightness, high tearing strength and endurance. Teijin Techno Force has the highest strength to weight ratio and longest durability in the industry.

KEVLAR REINFORCED STRUT SYSTEM WITH BRIDLE DEFLECTORS

RADIAL PANEL CUTS

Description

The extra-large T-Joint is the structural frame joining the leading edge and strut in the shape of the letter T. It has a larger diameter for optimum stiffness, enabling a lightweight and direct connection to the canopy without deformation, and keeps the profile flying in its intended shape.

Radial cut panels at the end of the GeoStrut distribute large amounts of load across the canopy in a range of directions. The canopy is a woven material, least stable when loaded at 45 degrees to the thread line. Radial cut panels help align the stronger weave of the canopy to the stress pattern, creating a stronger, cleaner canopy with less external patching to prevent distortion and help keep the weight in check.

GEOSTRUT

The controlled curvature of the exoskeleton increases stiffness and performance, creating a more stable centre profile that can still depower and produce less lift when you’re towing and riding waves. The concave side of the curve creates a stiffer frame, so there is less deflection and deformation in flight. The curved strut design also makes the wing more ergonomic and comfortable, bringing the forward handles closer to your body, and moving the rear handles away so you’re in a more natural position when sheeted in.

GRIPLOCK HANDLES

Ergonomic elliptical sandwich technology handles designed from a combination of multi-layer foam with reinforcement running through the centre. The internal reinforcement is sewn within the handle to the strut, creating a strong, wobble-free connection with just enough stiffness for the handle to maintain its shape. The elliptical/hexagonal foam shape is more twist-resistant to the webbing around it, and the softer webbing material is comfortable in your hands, has very little twist in the handle both laterally and front to back, but is still flexible enough to fold up and pack away easily. The low-profile handles are positioned in the prime location for centre of effort, and in the best place to trim the wing and make transitions more intuitive.

LITEVISION XS PANELS

XS skylite panels improve the rider’s field of vision – allowing you to see what’s downwind of you before transitions. The windows are positioned in just the right place for a safer riding experience, without adding unnecessary weight and complexity to the design.

DACRON CANOPY REINFORCEMENT

Chasing a stiffer rig, we moved to an ultra-stiff Dacron canopy reinforcement that is different to that used in our kites and capable of high inflation pressure. We’ve also built stiffness into the design through the load distribution on the frame when it’s in flight.

KEVLAR STRUT CONNECTION

A biaxial kevlar (aramid) fibre layer provides internal strength and reinforcement to the connection between strut and leading edge. It is bias cut, so it can flex around the curvature of the strut, with a tight and accurate fit.

HYPERFLOW RAPID INFLATION / DEFLATION SYSTEM

High volume single point inflation system with larger diameter hose for rapid inflation and deflation. Bayonet style main inflation valve compatible with most pumps. No adapter needed. Inflation connections on each side of the strut provide twice the rate of airflow on deflation. The two connections also help to lock the front of the bladder in place, providing support on both sides of the strut where the bladder is attached.

STPU scuff protection on the wing tips and seams. This is the same fabric used in the DuraLite seam protection on our North kites, however as the wing doesn’t usually rest on its leading edge, it doesn’t need the foam inserts.

HARNESS LINE ATTACHMENT POINT

A soft knuckle-guard pad under the depower handle allows you to lock your knuckles up against the leading edge for extra stability when towing. The amount of sweep and dihedral in the wing also help keep it tracking smoothly without swinging around.

The harness line attachment point is in just the right place. Our optional harness-line and waistbelt accessories are easy to use and take all the load off your hands. This means more freedom, less muscle fatigue and consequently longer sessions.

Description

HYBRID CARBON TECHNOLOGY

Lighter weight construction for stiffness, manoeuvrability and glide. The stiffer the board, the better it will pump and the more responsive it feels. A light yet durable epoxy composite laminate, with a balanced carbon and e-glass fibre layup is wrapped around an EPS core. High-density closed cell PVC reinforcement around the foil track mount, leash plug and foot strap inserts spreads the load. An ultra-lightweight double bamboo reinforcement layer under the standing area adds greater impact resistance and rigidity.

INTEGRATED PVC STRUCTURAL STRINGER SYSTEM

The DropBox foil mounting tracks are embedded into a high-density closed-cell PVC block. Two highdensity PVC stringers are glued to each side of this block, distributing the load lengthwise, and the full system connects the top and bottom laminate skins for maximum support.

DROPBOX ADJUSTABLE FOIL MOUNTING TRACK (PATENT-PENDING)

Speed-dial your foil setup. Simply drop your foil pre-assembled with screws and t-nuts into the track, slide it backwards, then tighten the screws to fasten. Our unique structurally-integrated DropBox has a longer track for a wider adjustment range, allowing you to precision-tune the foil set up for your rider weight. A measurement guide next to the track aids correct positioning. Industry-standard 90mm track spacing means the DropBox is compatible with most foil systems.

GORE™ WATERPROOF 2-WAY VENT

The EPS core of a high volume board is affected by extreme temperature changes. To prevent air pressure buildup we’ve installed a two-way GORE™ Protective Vent on the top deck. This allows air to pass in and out of the board, while preventing water from entering. The vent is factory-fitted and does not require any adjustment.

TOUCHDOWN RECOVERY

The nose spine and double-concave in the underside of the nose, combined with the steep bevelled rails, helps with touchdown recovery. The V-shape in the bottom contour of the board breaks the water surface on touch down, so the board dives in gently and releases quickly, without sticking. The V also helps to funnel air under the board, which helps it to release faster.

CUTAWAY TAIL

The sharp release edge on the tail allows for an earlier take-off, while the cutaways and the way the tail tapers reduces the volume in the tail, helping to bring the board’s centre of buoyancy forward, right underneath your stance. Having the centre of buoyancy directly underneath your stance is essential for finding that sweet spot on the board where you can remain without shifting your weight back and forward. The wedged tail shape reduces the overall length and improves the pumpability of the foil. Every movement counts to staying up on the foil.

SHORT RECTANGULAR OUTLINE WITH GENEROUS NOSE VOLUME

The shorter the board, the more effective it is for pumping, the less swing weight, and the more aerodynamic and manoeuvrable it is when riding up on the foil. The reverse shear of the deck and downward curve in the nose allows for greater control over the board, even when fully submerged on water starts. The extra nose volume was added on top so the boards could be cut short without losing stability and allows you to ride a board 6” shorter. The volume in the nose also stops you nose-diving when you’re paddling into a wave and helps keep the water off the concave deck.

DOUBLE CONCAVE DECK

There is a significant amount of concave in the deck that works to position the rider lower and makes the board more stable to ride. The concave puts all the volume outside on the rails, so the centre of the board is the low point. It creates the best potential for balancing and is the most comfortable and responsive shape to stand on.

LONGITUDINAL CORDUROY DECK GRIP WITH TACTILE AND VISUAL STANCE REFERENCE

For a more intuitive and direct connection to your foil, maximum-grip longitudinal corduroy with centre-line ridge allows fast, easy tactile foot placement. Tail kickpad with cutouts on the Swell for your feet while prone paddling. Transverse markers on the deckpad provide a visual reference, giving you confidence to adjust.

INTEGRATED TPU CARRY HANDLE

Recessed carry handle on the underside of the foil board allows balanced load handling with or without the foil attached and leaves your other hand free to carry your wing or paddle down to the water.

NEW FREE-V AND FREE FOIL STRAP INSERTS

Additional off-centre strap inserts allow you to customise your stance with 5 different positioning options for each strap - or go strapless. (Straps sold separately).

The Sonar reflexed wings have a relatively large surface area, which makes them highly controllable, with incredible roll and pitch stability. Usually, a large wing means more drag, hence less speed. But because you can position the reflexed wings on the fuselage with a lower angle of attack, they feel smaller than they are in terms of their speed range and responsiveness. A reflexed wing give you impressive control throughout the entire speed range, with extreme top-end speeds unheard of for a wing that size.
