INLAND WATERWAYS ASSOCIATION IPSWICH BRANCH Annual General Meeting Minutes of the 40th Annual General Meeting held on Friday, 14 February 2014 at the Needham Market Community Centre at 7.30pm. There were 22 members in attendance. The Chairman, Chard Wadley, opened the meeting by welcoming everyone to the 40th AGM and went on to welcome the new Regional Chairman, Richard Colett-Fenson. 1

APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES OF THE 2013 AGM The minutes for the AGM held in 2013 had been distributed to all persons present. It was then proposed by Brian Holt and seconded by Gerry Crease that the minutes were a true record of the proceedings; the vote taken showed all approved with no-one against and the minutes were duly signed by the Chairman.

MATTERS ARISING FROM THOSE MINUTES There were no matters raised from the floor.

CHAIRMAN’S REPORT Chard Wadley started by saying that as far as members are concerned the branch is averaging 456 members and 302 memberships. Regarding the restoration of the bywash at Pipps Ford Lock, Chard said that approval has been given from the EA and a Consultant had visited the site and is writing a report. Colin Turner said he believes the report has now been sent to the EA as a meeting is proposed and confirmation of a date is awaited. Chard said that the Sluice Gates were approved for Baylham Lock and are now fitted. Work continues at Pipps Ford but Chard explained that there had been many trees down and, due to wet conditions, the two previous Wednesday work parties had been cancelled. Chard reported on the 40TH Anniversary coach trip in September saying that the coach is now full. Regarding the 40th Anniversary Lunch being held on 4th October at the Cedars Hotel, Stowmarket, Chard gave details of who will be invited, the price and time of the event saying that Steve Hayward will be the after dinner speaker. Chard finished by thanking Brian and Diana Holt for organizing the winter meetings and speakers, he then thanked his committee for all their help and support over the year and not forgetting a thank you to the ladies that make the tea.

TREASURER’S REPORT AND PRESENTATION OF THE ACCOUNTS Spencer Greystrong started by explaining that all money raised from the scrap metal is now going direct to the River Gipping Trust. Spencer then asked for any questions regarding the accounts for the year. Roger Brown asked about the £1,100 spent on equipment saying is the equipment being passed onto the RGT. Spencer replied saying that this was discussed at the recent committee meeting but a decision has not yet been made. Roger Brown then explained that the River Stour Trust is struggling to raise money for new lock 1
