LETTER FROM THE EDITOR The birth story of this issue dates all the way back to January… At one of our weekly meetings we brainstormed potential events we could run for the winter term. After careful consideration (and the ever-changing covid guidelines), we decided on a community-wide event dedicated to transforming unwanted scraps into art! The team worked really hard to gather all kinds of interesting and forgotten scraps! Then we posed the challenge to the community: put those scraps to use and we will feature them in our zine. After a whirlwind of planning, scheduling, scanning and designing, the issue was born. We witnessed students and community members sift through piles and piles of materials, making strategic selections to craft into treasures and jewels before our eyes. In this issue you’ll see the results of their valiant efforts. Scattered throughout the pages are impressive reimaginings of buttons, magazines, yarn, bubble wrap, bottle caps, stickers, fabric, seashells, poker chips, cardboard rolls, feathers and more! After the event, we said farewell to our former editor-in-chief Jacqueline Meldrum, our layout team lead Rebecca Kempe, and our art team lead Katie Plant. Let’s thank them for all their wonderful work with the zine, and wish them lots of success & joy as they move forward with their various journeys! With that being said, I would like to end with two introductions. First, a very warm welcome to Yuan Liu, who has stepped up as our new layout and art team lead! Secondly, a quick “Hello!” from me, Crystal, the new editor-in-chief. Looking forward to the new term and the adventures ahead, Crystal Chambers Editor-In-Chief
