MESSAGE FROM WATOTO A S I A Dear Watoto Family, 2020 has been a year of challenges, we were all adapting and learning. We have never imagined how the pandemic has disrupted the entire world, putting a pause across the globe. At Watoto, our Watoto Children’s Choir experienced firsthand this unpredicted disruption the pandemic has caused when our Choir was stranded in Malaysia and could not return to Uganda for more than six months due to lockdown. We are grateful for the timely support by our team, volunteers and partners in Malaysia. They have taken care of our children with love during the hard times. But God is here to keep us safe in His shelter. We organised an online Choir concert in the interim to raise funds to support the expenses of our Choir. We are thankful for our partners and donors, without whom our online concert would not have been successful. Thanks to the kindness, our children were home safely. On the other hand, under the pandemic, our frontline team in Uganda endeavoured to protect and keep our children and mothers safe and healthy in our 3 villages. They reacted timely to align to the preventive measurements imposed by the local authority. We cannot achieve so much without them. But more importantly, you are the one making all these possible. Your faithful regular support provides us with necessary resources to rescue and embrace vulnerable women and children with new life full of hope. Thank you for trusting Watoto and standing by our women and children. May God richly bless you. With gratitude,
Sunny Cheng Country Director, Watoto Asia
