WATOTO CHURCH JUBA | SOUTH SUDAN
Three years ago, Watoto Church launched in Juba, South Sudan, the youngest city and nation in the world. The first service was held in Lamac Hotel in September 2012, with a few people. Since then, In December 2013, civil war broke out. But Watoto Church did not leave. Joe Ogwal says, “Juba is alive. People are hopeful. Without hope, I don’t think that there is any meaning to life. And the most
encouraging thing for us, is that we know our hope is Jesus.” “There’s been conflict and war, but Watoto Church stayed. And there’s been great growth. We’ve had to move into bigger venues three times since we’ve started. We outgrew every facility we’ve been in. And it’s time to get started on our permanent home,” says Gary Skinner.
THE FUTURE The next step is to establish our permanent presence in the city. We already have containers with the multi-purpose Sprung Structure on the ground in Juba. All that’s needed is the land.
