PROJECT: BRAND IDENTITY / BUSINESS MATERIALS / COLLATERAL PROMOTION CLIENT:
Assaf Harofeh Medical Center, nonprofit orgnanization
Israel, Los Angeles, Denver, New York
u The parent organization for the medical center is located in Israel. Corporate offices for the United States were established in Los Angeles with branch offices in Denver and New York. The client requested a new identity to be developed for the U.S. The purpose of the corporate logo was geared to represent and embrace the diversity of this country. In the first client meeting, a basic theme was discussed for concept development. Ten different directions were worked up per this theme. In the second meeting the client chose three of the concept approaches. Variations
were developed for the three approaches. On the third meeting, one approach was chosen. Color options for the logo were the last step of the process. As Assef serves many nationalities, the blue/brown color range was chosen to represent diversity in the nation. v The next step for the identity was the collateral business materials: business cards, stationery, envelopes and presentation folder. Different layouts were developed through two meetings. The letterhead for the Denver and New York offices was slightly different as they requested some additional information.

PROJECT: BRAND IDENTITY / BUSINESS MATERIALS / COLLATERAL PROMOTION CLIENT:
Assaf Harofeh Medical Center
w The presentation folder involved additional information beyond the address. The client wanted the parent company information indicated as well as the U.S. This was accomplished by developing a two-color illustrative map inside the folder showing where Assaf’s location was in Israel and creating an attractive image of the hospital for the front. Paper options were shown to the client with the final stage of the process coordinating the printing and delivering the product to the client per the designated due date.
x In addition to the branding identity, two brochures, one for promotion of the U.S. offices and one for a funding drive in Israel, were requested. Both brochures involved design, photography, illustration, copy development and printing. Three design solutions were shown to the client. One was chosen and further developed with photos and illustrations.

2
The funding brochure required a softer approach as the subject matter concerned children and grandparents. Pencil sketches for three illustration approaches were shown. One was chosen and developed for color. Once the client approved full image and color, the illustration was finalized. A second level to the funding brochure was designing 3D sculptures to be installed at the medical center in Israel.

Historically, veterans have not been permitte d to receive full military pay and VA compen sation for benefits at the same time. Veterans who were entitled to both have had to either waive a portion of their retirement equaling the amount of awarded VA compen sation or elect not to receive VA compensation at all. Receiving both benefits and retireme nt pay is commonly known as “concurrent receipt.”
T RESERVE
Reservists who serve on active duty establish veteran status and may be eligible for the full range of VA benefits, dependi ng on the length of active military service and a discharg e or release from active duty under conditions other than dishonorable. In addition , reservists not activated may qualify for some VA benefits . u An initial staff meeting in Raleigh, North Carolina established the parameters for the Guide as there was an extremely tight turnaround time for design, development and delivery to the printer. v Sample comps for the inside spreads were developed to show font choice, color and overall page layout. As there were nine sections to the Guide, color bands were used as separation markers to clearly define the changing areas. w The Studio had one main contact who coordinated emails, text and photos. As each section was designed, it was sent for approval to the different departments.
x After the sections were completed, internal tables of contents were developed for crosscoordination and to make it easier for the consumer to use. At this point, between the Studio and client, page numbers and any outstanding elements were incorporated. y DMVA requested ads designed for the Guide. The above State Fair ad is one created for DMVA. z This project required extensive organization as information was received from nine different departments. Upon finish, print pdfs were uploaded to the printer’s insite server.

u Kiddie Academy, a childhood educational franchise for ages infant through 7 years old, had rebranded with the help of a local creative studio and looked to roll out their new brand in over 200 independently-owned businesses throughout the country. While brand imagery, style and voice were defined, Kiddie Academy needed to create an introductory campaign and several sub-campaigns to refresh content and current brand assets. v Photo content was identified to create in line with the new brand standards, depicting all ages of Kiddie Academy’s students involved in over six areas of activity reflective of their daily experiences. The photo shoots were scheduled in two-day increments every three weeks, with two ages being photographed at a time. This schedule allowed for minimum disturbance in the Academy’s normal daily activities. w While current students were selected and opted to participate in the photoshoot, diversity needs

This design was then developed into three final campaign assets to be used in over 15 pieces of collateral including flyers, web ads, posters, counter cards, social media assets, and more. z All items were created using InDesign, with some being sent to a printer for direct mailing to the franchisees and others developed into responsive templates using a content management system with freedom for personalization.

Ambassador Aas: There is a flexible world market for oil and Norway export most of our production of 1.9 million barrels per day to the world-m arket. The market for gas is different most of the gas produced : in Norway is exported by pipelines to European countries . Norway is the second largest gas exporter to Europe – next to Russia. Norway is an efficient and reliable exporter of gas to Europe and is an important supplier to the European energy market. Now hundreds of people come to the conference. It’s one of the largest addressing Arctic issues. But more recently the Obama administration has also been focusing on the region. balance the climate issue with economi c and social growth. We have a national consensus on that, which is why we have been gradually moving into the northern parts of Norway since we started the oil and gas venture in the late 1960s. Diplomatic Connecti ons: Isn’t there also a security dimension well? Doesn’t Norway, as together with other Scandinavian countries keep a watchful eye , on Russian activity in the Arctic? Ambassador Aas: What I will say about that is that Norway has been living with Russia for 1,000 years — and living peacefully with Russia for 1,000 years. But we are very critical of what [the Russians] have been doing by annexing the Crimea, and what they are doing in the eastern parts of Ukraine; we are imposing the same sanction s as the U.S. and everybody else. We have postponed our military cooperation with Russia, but what is also importan t is that we maintain good cooperation with Russia, for instance, on administ ering the fishing in the Barents Sea, where there was overfishi ng in the 1970s and 1980s. Now fishing is based on harvestin g, mostly because we have a bilateral understa nding with Russia. also have an understa We nding on what I would call nuclear spill from old Soviet nuclear submarines — so that also is working.

Properties (New York) and The Concordia Hotel. Copy for Metropolitan Pacific was written by the Studio. Each article is a design in and of itself as the photography and lead text choice define the attitude and look. Core contact takes place with the publisher. All articles and photography are submitted with specific directions on procedure. Because the nature of the diplomatic environment is quite sensitive, image and text emphasis are very important. v Once an article is designed with all materials, the article is sent to the publisher. When approved, a pdf is emailed to the ambassador. At this stage, sometimes the ambassador requests changes. w Advertisements, submitted by the sales reps, are checked for proper print output and then
positioned in the spreads. A high resolution print-ready pdf is made and uploaded to the printer’s website where the publisher approves the pages and signs off for final print. x For immediate digital viewing prior to print, a low resolution pdf is uploaded to ISSU. If an ambassador has missed something, there is a halt to the operation and the correction is made. y Delivery of web size images and text are sent to the webmaster and magazine staff who handle the website, Facebook and Linked In accounts. z The final stage is development of the email blast that goes to a targeted audience for the magazine’s promotion.
