Participation in Advanced Placement (AP) is an indicator of college-level academic rigor and a critical component of college readiness.

The risk ratio identifies the risk of students of color as compared to white students for academic and behavioral adversity. This data helps track and reduce disproportionality across our system. The ACT benchmark scores are associated with specific predicted grades in corresponding college courses.

Meet or exceed State Goal for On Track to English Proficiency/ Bilingualism measured by Access Test.

The measure of students on track to English proficiency will illuminate our success as a system in ensuring accessible and scaffolded content instruction and English language development.

Percentage of schools who score at the “Meets Expectations” level or higher on the DPI State Report Card.

At the foundation of Wisconsin’s state accountability system are the school and district report cards, which annually report on the performance of all public schools and districts, including charter schools.

This is one measure of student achievement taken at a moment in time during Fall, Winter and Spring assessment windows. Tracking student progress allows teachers to target instruction based on students’ strengths and needs. Students scoring below the 25th percentile are more likely to be identified as at-risk academically.

The conditions that lead to student engagement contribute to a safe and positive school culture and climate for all students. Parent feedback is valued and contributes positively to student’s learning experiences and is also an indicator of a school and district’s overall success. Multilingualism adds academic and educational value as well as benefiting the workplace and our global society. Students are significantly more likely to persist, earn higher GPA’s, and stay enrolled in college after graduation.

This snapshot survey completed in all schools provides immediate feedback for continuous culture enhancement. Staff feedback is valued and contributes positively to a productive work environment and is also an indicator of a school and district’s overall success. Onboarding of new employees is a critical component of sustained employee satisfaction. High teacher attendance rates are a predictor to overall employee engagement. A retention rate of 95% is indicative of a healthy organization.

As of June 30, 2020, (2019/20 Financial Statements) the District had an unassigned operational fund balance of $39.5 million. Based on our last audit the District had a 21.7% (of total operational and special education expenditures) unassigned fund balance. Fund balance allows the District to avoid cash flow borrowing and the related interest expense and have reserves on hand to address unexpected financial challenges. Standards & Poor’s: AA Of the 421 other public school districts in the State of Wisconsin only 17 have a higher bond rating then the School District of Waukesha In addition to allowing the District to borrow funds at lower interest rates, a bond rating also is an independent agency’s measure of how a school district is managing their fiduciary responsibilities. August 31, 2021, the School District of Waukesha is scheduled to complete the work on $66.7 million dollars in facilities improvements. This work was primarily funded from the successful November 2018 - $60 million referendum. The primary focus of these projects was to provide district-wide safety improvements to our schools and major renovations to Les Paul, Horning, Butler Middles Schools & South High School. In the summer of 2021, the District will begin work on a full facility evaluation at the elementary level. 77% of the District’s operational & special educational budget goes towards staff compensation. Being service providers, school districts on average spend between 75-80% of their budget on staffing expenses. Fiscal Year 2020/21, the School District of Waukesha has the second lowest tax rate of any K-12 District in Waukesha County at $8.03. The School District of Waukesha tax rate is in the lowest 20% of all the K-12 school district’s in the state. This tax rate also includes the paying down of referendum related long-term debt in 6 to 7 years vs. the original 10 year plan (vast majority of school districts borrow for 20 years). The District’s aggressive payback approach will save taxpayers millions of dollars in interest expense.
