Thankfulness abounds as year winds down By David Eckmann, President/CEO s the holiday season and the end of 2017 approaches, it is quite common for all of us to take stock of the past year. For many, we reflect on business success, organizational setbacks, personal enrichment and growth, or those that we may have lost or those that have come into our lives. In each of these, there is an element of thankfulness.

As your President/CEO, I’d like to take the opportunity to extend my sincere gratitude and appreciation to the members of the Wausau Region Chamber of Commerce. Without your support and commitment to the organization, it would be very difficult to meet the mission of strengthening our member businesses and enhancing our community by building business success. It is through your financial contributions and your generous giving of time and talent that makes the difference. We could not do what we do without your sponsorships, participation in planning committees, volunteering, or serving as a red coated Ambassador. Thank you. I’m extremely grateful to our Board of Directors. This past year, with assistance from our membership, the board engaged in creating a plan for our organization’s
future. For the first time, our organization has a strategic plan with designated measures. This tool will help guide our activities and better position resources. I’m looking forward to our board engagement efforts in 2018. I’m extremely grateful for the team of professionals working here at the Chamber. Vince Lombardi once said, “Individual commitment to a group effort, that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work.” As the leader of the organization, I’m here to let you know that I have a fantastic team here at the Chamber. They are committed to your success, to the Wausau Region Chamber of Commerce and to the community which we call home. Beyond the team members, I’m grateful for the support our families provide. Quite often, our team duties require us to be away from our families at inconvenient times. I’d be remiss in extending my gratefulness to the valued partners we work with in our region, and there are many, too many to list. Our continued collaboration will lead to terrific results as we move into the new year. So, to each of you, I extend my appreciation. As we move towards 2018, the efforts to build a strong and vibrant community will require all of us to work together. We have so many opportunities in front of us. For that, I’m grateful.
