Coloma Cycling Club rides to Pleasant Pond
The Coloma Cycling Club rode to the home of Kim and Joe Brown on Aug. 10 to visit what they affectionately call “Pleasant Pond.” The house and land is an original homestead, first homesteaded by Emil Muske in 1935. Although the house has been updated, it retains the “flavor” of the original building. Joe told the story about Emil feuding with his brother who lived across the pond. Something happened after they homesteaded the land, which evidently was never resolved. In their later years, gunshots could be heard in the area as they shot at each other across the pond. The club rides every Saturday morning and into the fall. The Aug. 17 ride will leave from a location in Mt. Morris and the club will be visiting the Mt. Morris Conference Center. If you’d like to ride on Saturday, Aug. 17, please call Sue at 715-228-2401 for directions to the meeting place. Pictured are: (front row) Ann Morgan, Rockford, Sue Apps, Coloma, Sandy Gilmore, Rockford, Rick Gilmore, Rockford, Bill Borzick, Coloma; (second row) Tom Pintar, Coloma, Joe and Kim Brown, host, with granddaughter Evelyn Hunter, Madison, Chuck and Sue Hazzard, Redgranite, Sarah Johnson, New York, Marcia Johnson, Coloma, Eric Johnson, New York, Russ Clark, Pleasant Lake; (third row) Boyd Lescher, Wautoma, Steve Halvorsen, Pleasant Lake, Eric Gulbronson, Wautoma, John Eyerly, Wautoma, Virgil Cole, Mt. Morris, and Dave Morgan, Rockford.

De Consecration Service held July 21 at Camp Budsin As was scheduled and announced in the Montello Tribute and The Waushara Argus, the De Consecration Service was held as scheduled at Camp Budsin; however, the rain made a few changes. At 1:45 p.m. it was clear that they would not be able to hold the service at the designated place, the campground. It was decided to hold the service as planned but to change the location to the Dwayne and Viola Daye house. With help from Pastor Aaron who was already present, they got more chairs in place to accommodate those who would be coming. By 2:30 p.m., they were ready to start the service. Seventeen people gathered for this service. After a greeting to those present and a prayer, the his-
tory of the camp meetings and services were read and many offered what they remembered from past years that held meaning to them. The names of many Saints were also read and remembered as each person brought special memories to the group. The once-dedicated Tabernacle and grounds were then De Consecrated with Pastor Aaron reading the service that would take the five-acre parcel of land out of the “Holy Service” that it was dedicated in and release it to grounds that would be used for any honorable use. The service closed with singing “God Be with You ‘Til We Meet Again” followed by a prayer. With this, 78 years of camp meeting services came to an end.
We have the selection and experience to help you accomplish all your summer tasks.

Coloma Calvary United Methodist VBS ends
The Coloma Calvary United Methodist Church Summer Bible School held their program during the church service on July 28. The program was on Mary’s Boy Child: “Christmas in July.” The children made a gift for all who attended. The Vacation Bible School teachers this year were Vicky Deery, Carole Reich, Shirley Glenzer, Stepanie and Britany Bronsted, Heather Deery, Mathew Johnson, Anna Vitale and the new pastor Laverne Larson. The children who attended were Alex Schmudlach, Kaitlyn Schmudlach, Alyssa Bartolaba, Sadie Bartolaba, Alexis Parker, Hunter Kiltz, Marqus Ely Bartolaba, Skye Schmudlach and Kennedy Parker. Steve Deery, Pat and Jerry Straetz and Carol Reich sponsored the picnic with Iona Jean King supplying the snacks. Most of the teachers take their vacation during this week to help with the bible school. Pictured are Marqus Ely-Bartolaba as Joseph and Kaitlyn Schmudlach as Mary.
