SUMMIT LEARNING TR

Welcome Trust

The Summit Learning Trust family is currently made up of three secondary schools, five primary schools and a sixth form college educating almost 8000 learners.

All of our academies are located in the Birmingham and Solihull areas which allows us to work closely together for the benefit of all our children, young people and the communities we serve. After another highly successful year, all of our academies have now been judged by Ofsted as ‘Good’ providers with an increasing proportion of ‘Outstanding’ features.

We are relentless in our ambition for all our children and young people to make exceptional levels of academic progress and achieve strong portfolios of qualifications. Across Summit, our focus is on developing responsible, knowledgeable, highly skilled, global citizens who will have a positive impact on our communities now and in future years. We are developing our already established links with higher education establishments, local employers and charitable organisations to ensure that all our young people can benefit from these positive partnerships within our wider communities.

Our Trust is committed to providing vibrant learning communities in our schools and college, where our children and young people are happy, safe and supported to work hard. We are all acutely aware of our core purpose of educating all learners through exceptional teaching and learning, underpinned by high levels of care and support and we challenge our children and young people to do their best, every lesson, every day. We strive for all our learners to have as many life choices available to them as possible.

Being part of the Summit Learning Trust family means that all our academies benefit from a wide range of expertise, support and challenge. Leaders, teachers and support colleagues work with each other across our academies to develop and share excellent practice and provide support where needed. Our academies benefit from highly-trained, expert, hard-working and dedicated staff teams who are all committed to providing an outstanding education and the highest levels of care for all our learners. Whilst other schools and colleges struggle to recruit and retain high quality, specialist teachers and support colleagues, we are proud that we attract a high calibre of professionals due to our happy, warm, and hard-working environments and the growing reputation of Summit Learning Trust as a great place to learn and work in.

We pride ourselves on working in partnership with parents, carers and families and hope that this prospectus provides you with an insight into our school. We look forward to welcoming you and working with you.

A Stimulating Environment

At Pegasus Primary School, we have created an exciting and stimulating environment that reflects our values and promotes a sense of community as well as an individual sense of self-worth.

We provide a happy, caring environment in which both children and adults feel secure and valued, where they will find satisfaction and pleasure in their work and where learning will flourish.

Our Rich Curriculum

We believe that learners should be curious about their learning. Through our engaging curriculum, we ensure that learners foster a love of learning that will help them develop high aspirations and foster a lifetime of memories.

We believe in providing all learners with a well-rounded education where individual talents can be spotted and nurtured to ensure that all learners experience success and reach their full potential. We aim for our learners to be confident, caring, resilient, inquisitive young adults who desire to learn and achieve their best in all they do.

Enrichment

Enrichment is at the very heart of our curriculum at Pegasus. We are passionate about providing our children with comprehensive experiences, including sports, arts, and music.

We develop our children’s knowledge and experiences through a wide range of carefully planned trips and experiences in support of our curriculum. Our enrichment program allows children to pursue and develop their interests, find and explore things they are passionate about and develop a sense of pride and purpose in their achievements. We seek to ensure that children leave Pegasus as well-rounded individuals with a secure understanding of British Values.

Parents, Carers and Community

We recognise parents and carers as primary caregivers and are very proud of the working partnerships that we have developed at Pegasus. We believe that a strong home-school partnership gives the best possible support to our children throughout their journey with us.

We encourage parents and carers to get involved at school and offer a comprehensive range of workshops, information sessions and report evenings alongside more traditional class assemblies and award presentations. We have an open-door policy for parents and carers, so you can speak with staff members when you need. You will always receive a warm welcome at Pegasus from staff members at the gate in the morning to our friendly and caring office team. Simply put, we are here to listen, support and work in partnership with you wherever possible.

Nurturing the Whole Child

Our curriculum provides children with a range of experiences and knowledge that support their growth as individuals. The personal development curriculum is carefully planned to support our children’s development as well-rounded individuals.

It effectively promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental, and physical development of pupils and prepares them for the opportunities, responsibilities, and experiences of later life. We have an experienced pastoral lead and school counsellor on our team, which means that we are able to provide the right support at the right time to our children and families.

Safeguarding and Wellbeing

Pegasus is committed to the safeguarding and welfare of all our learners.

Our experienced team works in close consultation with the Birmingham Safeguarding Children Board and other relevant professionals.

We place critical importance on pupils’ voices and have The Super Safeguarding Squad, composed of children across the school who work alongside the leadership team to ensure children remain happy, safe, and confident.

Attendance and Punctuality

At Pregasus we recognise good attendance and punctuality is crucial to learning, raising standards and for the achievement of children.

We expect children to attend school every day. Promoting good attendance is partnership work between school and parents and carers. We encourage our families to support a positive attitude towards school, and an eagerness to learn and succeed.

We work with parents and carers to achieve high attendance and offer support with early intervention from external professional partners where necessary. Professional partners are fully integrated into our school to support our pastoral systems and provide the highest level of care for our children.

We strive to work with families to support the best possible attendance.
