HOW TO ORDER We aim to make the ordering process as simple as possible for customers, so please get in touch to find out how we can tailor the process to work alongside your current methods. Customers who are using WavePrint for the first time are often surprised at how accommodating we are. A typical order process would look something like this: 1. Confirm that you wish to go ahead, detailing quantities, number of versions, specification and preferred delivery date 2. Submit your custom information either as finished pages or as raw content for us to format (see pages 2-3 for more information) 3. We send a complete proof for you to check and approve, as well as an order confirmation 4. You check and amend the proofs and order details as required 5. Once you are happy and have signed the job off for production we will print, bind and deliver the books in line with the agreed schedule

SUPPLYING YOUR PLANNER CONTENT We present four options for supplying your school information pages. 1. Supply finished artwork If you are able to create professional print ready artwork, we can work from your own files. Please get in touch if you would like details or master templates tailored to your specific requirements.
2. Use your existing documents If you already have your custom information pages set-up to suit the processes of one of our competitors, we can use them in their current format which means you can continue to edit and update them as you have done in the past. Please do check in the early stages to ensure that we don’t need to alter any aspects to save time later.
3. Use WavePrint templates We have a range of document templates in Microsoft Word and Publisher which you can use to create your custom pages with the correct margins and page sizes. If you require templates in alternative formats just let us know, we are usually able to supply something appropriate.
3. Use our design service Our team of professional designers are at your disposal to lay out your custom content either to match one of our standard design themes (see pages 26-45) or to your own bespoke design. In this case we simply need you to supply any images and text digitally for us to format.
2
DESIGN STYLES Just as we don’t dictate what you put in your planner, we don’t tell you that it has to look a particular way either. We have an attractive range of templates and design styles, one of which is bound to compliment your school branding and ethos. We can also create a bespoke layout to your specification.
Covers Either choose to base your design on one of our 10 samples (see pages 4 - 23 of this book), which may be adapted to better suit your school or alternatively specify a bespoke cover using your own artwork or as a custom commission, designed by us to your brief.
Inside Pages Our five internal page design styles (see pages 26 - 45 of this book) give you the freedom to customise the planner design to compliment your school’s branding and ethos without the need to commission a bespoke design service.

DIARY LAYOUTS It is important to emphasise from the start that the diary page layout, one of the most important aspects of the planner, can be tailored to your desired format. We recognise that whilst you will have a good idea of your requirements, you might not have the time or resources to create something from scratch, or you might like to take a look at ideas that have worked elsewhere and progress from there. Most customers choose a week-to-view format, which affords students plenty of space to make notes, however week-per-page and day-per-page options are two popular alternatives. As with the layout of the pages themselves, the format of the planner section is completely customisable. On pages 48-82 of this book you will find a range of layouts which you can choose to use either as they are or as a base for your own ideas. Of course, if you require a completely bespoke format we are more than happy to oblige, simply sketch out your plans and we will create them in your chosen design style.

Unfortunately, the world in which we live is not always a safe one. It is important to always be aware of your surroundings and to remember that if it doesn’t feel safe, it probably isn’t, so always act on the side of caution. When Going Out • Make sure a responsible adult knows where you are going and where you will be at all times. Call before you set off for home from a friend’s house • Remember that there is safety in numbers, wherever possible travel in groups • Always keep your mobile charged and topped up, or keep money for emergency calls in your pocket • Know your home phone number and address • Never get into a car with a stranger • If you need to ask someone you don’t know for help, try to approach a family group or an official figure, such as a policeman • Don’t flaunt expensive personal possessions (such as mobile phones, mp3 players, headphones etc) in places where they could be taken from you against your will On Your Bike • Always wear a helmet HWK01-ECM-01
• Always cycle on the left hand side of the road • Make sure you have reflectors on your bike, and if you are planning to travel in the dark, make sure your lights work

BINDING & SIZES Binding Since we started producing homework planners in the 1990s, the binding has always been critically important. The most appropriate binding method for secondary school planners is coil locked metal spiral, which should not be confused with plastic coil or the inferior metal wire-o (or double loop) binding. In order to ensure we never let customers down either in terms of the product that we deliver, or the date on which it arrives, we have invested heavily in our own in-house metal spiral binding and coil locking equipment. Of course, there are occasions where other methods are preferred, for a variety of different reasons, we are happy to also offer; • Perfect/PUR Binding (paperback) - a great budget option • Case Binding (hardback) - a very business-like product • Saddle Stitching (stapled) - suitable for small termly planners • Plastic coil binding
Sizes Although the vast majority of planners that we produce are A5 portrait, no doubt due to the fact they are both practical and affordable, you can order planners at any size to suit your students’ needs. Other popular options include; • A5 landscape - a great way to differentiate between versions and a great option for 6th Forms • A4 - give students plenty of space to make detailed notes • A6 - easy to carry in pockets or small bags • B5 - more space than A5 and easier to handle than A4 • Pocket - ideal for slotting in a blazer pocket, especially when saddle stitched or perfect bound 94
OPTIONAL EXTRAS To further enhance the planners we offer a range of optional extras which make the planners even more useful.
Map & Reference Section 16 colour pages of useful reference information including UK, Europe and World maps, periodic table, maths, science and literacy information as well as a spelling dictionary and map of the solar system.
Sixth Form Reference Section Our specially designed sixth form reference section includes content specifically selected for post 16 students including information relating to UCAS applications, driving, money management, health, gap years, university and employment.
PVC Document Pocket Perfect for ensuring worksheets, letters and forms get home safely. They can also be used as dividers between sections within the planners.
Red/Amber/Green Cards ‘Traffic light’ cards can be used by students to demonstrate their understanding of classwork or as a simple voting tool. 95
Dry-Wipe Boards Dry-wipe boards, which can be pre-printed with school information, are a great tool for voting or responding in class, as well as for rough work.
Ruler Bookmarks These robust clear plastic bookmarks clip around the spiral binding to help students find the current week quickly, as well as ensuring that every student has a useful 20cm/8in ruler.
Weeks A/B or 1/2 If you have a split timetable we can label the weeks within your planner in accordance with your schedule, ensuring students always know what week it is.
Important School Dates If you have confirmed dates for events for the coming year, such as term dates, inset days and parents evenings, we can incorporate them on the relevant dates in the diary for you.
Specials We are always happy to accommodate special requests which make the planners more effective. Recent examples include • perforated pages • full colour print throughout • ribbon page markers • rounded corners • coloured overlay sheets • coloured paper
