How it works
1. Talk to your dedicated Wave Ed adviser about your requirements, we will be there for you every step of the way! Together, we will organise the best course of action and timeline for your project to ensure your yearbooks arrive on time.
2. Think about how you would like the yearbook to look, you can either base it on one of our themes (marked with the label) or specify your own bespoke design. Let your adviser know what you have decided, if you have chosen a bespoke design we will create a couple of pages for approval before we proceed with the rest of the yearbook.
3. Decide on what you would like to include in the book. Based on your instructions, we will create your customised folders and share with you via our secure online cloud storage server.
4. Decide on the student profile entry questions and talk to your adviser about the most efficient way to collect them.
5. Upload your other content to the folders including introductions, awards and photos for montage pages.
6. The cost per yearbook is based on an estimate number you think you will sell. We will help you promote the book to your year group!
7. Once you’ve finished submitting your content to your folder, our graphic design team will make a start on the artwork.
8. Your adviser send you a digital proof copy for approval prior to printing, binding and delivering the books.

Supplying your artwork
Every year a handful of schools come to us with a desire to design their own yearbook from scratch, asking us to print and bind it for them. Of course, we are more than happy to help. The team will work with you to ensure that you understand the amount of work involved, plan the book layout and advise on content collection to minimise the time that it will take to produce the artwork.
Whenever a customer wishes to design their own book we always advise that they take the time to talk through their plans in detail before starting and communicate with our advisors regularly to ensure the process runs smoothly.
If you are thinking of going down this route, we would advise you to contact us before starting so that we can give you our guidelines and help by pointing out any potential problems or hurdles that you may encounter!
OUR SERVICE
We believe that creating a yearbook should be a pleasure, in making your book the committee should be able to enjoy thinking about the happy memories and planning how to incorporate them. Committees should not be burdened with the task of designing their own books using unfamiliar software or online systems; as such we have a team of advisors and graphic designers who will help you to specify your perfect yearbook and who will then design it for you to an exceptional standard.
The team are on hand throughout the process to support, advise and facilitate to ensure that making your yearbook is a pleasure for both staff and students. We understand that every school, and every year group, is unique and are happy to work with you to establish a method and schedule that suits your particular needs.

Introductions
Every book needs an introduction, whether it’s a brief comment from the yearbook committee or a lengthy message from the head of year or headteacher we’ve got some great layout ideas to ensure it will start the book in style.

Student profile pages generally make up the bulk of the book, they are the space in which each member of the year group has the opportunity to present their own messages, photos and memories. The time taken to produce a Yearbook from the date that you submit the information to us is around 10 weeks, so if you want the books for the end of April you would need to get the information to us by the middle of February, this includes us doing the design, proofing the artwork to you and printing and binding the books. When deciding on a timescale, take into consideration what other commitments that you have such as mock exams, work experience or revision. We always advise setting short deadlines and aiming to get your part of the process completed as quickly as possible to give you more time to concentrate on your work and revision!

How long does it take to produce a yearbook?
Production (artwork, printing and binding) timescales are dependent on the package and type of book that you choose, typically the inital proof will be ready in around three weeks, proofing (making changes) can take another couple of weeks and production takes around three to four weeks. Collecting the content for the book (your bit of the process) is really dependent on how quickly the committee work to get everything together, we have had really great books compiled in just a couple of weeks and others have taken six months. The best bet to get an accurate idea of timescales is to get in touch with our team to discuss your particular requirements and we will be able to advise from there.
How many pages will I need?
We see a lot of variation here, but a typical yearbook for a Year 11 group would have a few pages of introductions, 8-12 profile entries per page, a few feature pages and around 10-12 photo montage pages, bringing a typical book out between 40 and 50 pages. For year 13 groups page numbers will probably be slightly lower due to smaller groups, although we would typically see 4-8 profiles per page. Of course you can have as many pages as you like with the Terabook package - we’ve produced books with over 200 pages before. For Megabook and Gigabook packages the number of pages is dictated by the package structure and the size of your year group.
How much support do you offer?
Our support is unrivalled. We work closely with schools to ensure committees are supported throughout the process. You can contact your dedicated adviser Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm on the phone, by email or via our social media channels. Depending on your location we will also try to get out to school at least once to help you get the project underway and keep it on track. You can also find loads of help on our yearbook tips blog pages on our website.
How do we send the content to you?
You can submit content either on Google Drive (a free online collaborative working tool, which we’ll help you set up) or we can send you a set of customised folders for you to start collecting your content on your computer. We will then arrange for your folders to be sent to us via our online secure shared portal. We will help you every step of the way!
How are the Yearbooks ordered?
We can set up a personalised online shop, unique to the school! There will be an additional cost of £1 per yearbook to cover transaction and admin fees. Alternatively, the school can take your order, and we will arrange payment with them. This will be at no extra cost.
How do we promote the sale of the yearbooks?
We can support you with this too. We will send you posters and leaflets which will advise the year group how to order and when they need to order by. We’ll also send you some blank posters on which you can write your own messages such as reminders about sending photos for the montage pages - you could even put one in the staff room as a reminder to staff about submitting their comments.
