Piedmont Homestead is a little bit of heaven We are stardust, we are golden. We are billion year old carbon, And we got to get ourselves back to the garden. Woodstock ~ Joni Mitchell By Alan Hodge alan@cfmedia.info

Mike and Kristina Lore’s Piedmont Homestead market garden and farm near Alexis is a miniature Garden of Eden. Several years ago the couple decided to plant a garden on their six acre piece of land located on Alexis-High Shoals Rd. and the banks of Sailors Branch. Now, those few rows have grown in scope to the point where they are able to have plenty of veg-
etables for themselves and enough to carry each weekend to the Mt. Holly Farmers Market for sale. “Two or three years ago I started learning about food and the more I got into it I decided to share that knowledge and the produce we grow,” Mike said. Right now, the garden has about a fifth of an acre under cultivation out in the open and another large space under a high shelter similar to a greenhouse. Goodies the Lores are growing includes melons, kale, carrots, lettuce, beets, sweet potatoes, heirloom tomatoes, peppers, cukes, and several types of herbs just to
name a few things. Like most uncultivated places in our area, the soil the Lores started out with was red dirt with plenty of weeds. Mike shared his tips on how he took that situation and turned it around so that vegetables and flowers can really get going. “You need plenty of compost,” he said. “We don’t till the soil which stirs up weed seeds. We put sheets of plastic on top of the weeds to kill them then take it up and put lots of compost down. Wood chips go between the rows. We turn the compost over See HOMESTEAD, Page 4
Belmont Abbey College housing update Progress continues with the new housing facility at Belmont Abbey College. The five-story residence hall will be the Belmont Abbey College home for 136 upperclassmen – 34 students on each of floors two through five with classrooms and faculty offices on the first floor. Unfortunately, due to numerous weather delays during the initial stages, the Abbey is anticipating an October completion for the most significant housing project in the history of the College. To support safety during the pandemic and rather than providing an option to triple its residents, the College will be providing a modular unit option, at a significantly reduced rate—$2,300 rather than $3,700 for fall 2020. The modular units will offer the same amenities as existing housing options. The single occupancy 10’ x 10’ rooms will include a shared bathroom with one other
resident—the same assigned roommate for the new hall. Each room has a single bed, desk, vanity, and television with shared laundry facilities located within. The units will be temporarily located in the parking lot adjacent to the baseball field, dining hall, and the Saints residence halls. To accommodate the temporary loss of parking during this growth phase, the College is permanently expanding the parking lot adjacent to the Alumni House and Science building, which will add approximately 90 additional parking spots. The Abbey is currently developing a more detailed parking plan for fall 2020, particularly for residents of St. Benedict and St. Scholastica. The modular units, while temporary, will still provide a safe, high-quality, living experience until the construction of the new hall concludes See HOUSING, Page 7

These bikes were full-sized jobs with frames made of heavy steel tubing and they had full fenders and on the front fender there was generally a battery powered headlight but too often the batteries leaked acid and the light went kaput and thus became the first thing to be stripped off the bike. By Dennis Siracusa This morning, at breakfast, I pondered that question. Why this blend of food choices? One hardboiled egg, an avocado, cheese/sausage grits and tomato juice. I’ve never had this combination before; why this and why today? Life is complicated if we delve into it; plumb its depths. This morning I chose avocado because five ripe ones needed to be eaten. I wanted grits, and what can I say about tomato juice except I hope tomato juice is available in heaven; sometimes other “why” answers don’t come as easily. Yesterday a friend excitedly shared a multilevel marketing product with us. I saw red flags. What could I say and why am I credentialed to do so; because I’ve fallen for MLMs several times. Sprint, Neolife, Neolite, Amway, and Market America and I lost money and valuable time on all of them. Why was I not a good fit and what sort of person is? As a pre-1979 secular humanist I couldn’t answer that question. I simply thought I must be a failure. When I gave my life to Jesus in 1979 I began to understand better. God exists and has a grand design for all life. I began to understand the concepts of “calling,” and “purpose.” I also began to understand more about human nature and our need for community; our need for affirmation and encouragement and how their lack can lead us astray. I was a friendly person but didn’t make “best friends” easily; in fact not at all. And with respect to sales, I am an ok technical sales person but not a high pressure hawker with a straw hat and cane. In my MLM experiences I was a sucker for fellowship and over inflated my ability to sell. I also was greedy and the idea of lots of money and residual income was attractive. Why is this essay important to me today? Because when various pandemics clobber our finances, lots of MLM systems pop up with a “chicken in every pot,” promise; promises mostly deceptive and il-
lusive. King Solomon was smart. Until he was led astray by idol worshipping wives, he promoted many biblical proverbs about lessons God taught him; this morning I like Proverbs 2. “My child, listen to what I say and treasure my commands. Tune your ears to wisdom and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver;” NLT. If we listen to God and obey Him our lives will be smoother, more joyful, and productive. Dr. Mike Bechtle wrote “Dealing with the Elephant in the Room.” He
noted that God taught him “we were created with Dennis Siracusa a blend of temperament, passion, and interest that makes us unique.” He further noted “when we try to imitate others, we rob the world of the unique contribution we were designed to make.” How do I sort all of this out this morning? Life is complicated and can be deceptive and distracting, and we all need a trustworthy and capable teacher. How about the author of life?

HOMESTEAD From Page 1 with a broad fork. The Lores get their compost by the yard from Earth Farms in Dallas. A big heap is stockpiled behind their house ready for spreading. “Clean compost also helps keep the weeds down, Mike said. Water is also a vital element for gardening and Mike offers this advice. “The first step in gardening is planning the location so you have good light and water, he said. “That’s very important. To keep the critters from eating up everything in the outside garden, Mike took black locust poles and plenty of wire to build a high fence.
They have a flock of Golden Comet chickens and an electric fence keeps varmints out. Their friendly red dog does his part by patrolling the grounds. When crops are picked Mike and Kristina take them to a room out back of their garage for washing, packaging, and transport to the Mt. Holly Farmers Market. Some of the crop they donate to Mt. Holly’s Community Relief Organization. Right now, the garden is a supplemental form of income, but there are plans in that regard. “Hopefully, in a couple of years we will be able to farm full time, Mike said. “That’s

CHICKEN WIRE A-FRAME Best for peas, shorter beans, and vining flowers These trellises are made by creating a small frame with long legs out of untreated cedar. Staple chicken wire onto the frame, and use hinges to attach two frames together at the top. This construction allows flexibility of width in the garden and flat winter storage. Unruly chicken wire is contained when attached to the frame, and the trellis can be used for years to come. Seed Savers Exchange photos and information
BAMBOO AND TWINE Best for beans and sturdy climbing vines Bamboo stakes are incredibly useful around the garden, and trellis systems of all types can be made with a handful of stakes and twine. Create a teepee by installing several stakes in a circle, then tying the tops together with twine. Long bamboo walls are made by creating two lines of poles about a foot apart, and tying the tops together. Placing a stake perpendicularly on top of the poles adds stability. Bamboo trellis systems work well with beans, runners, and other strong climbers. Bamboo is not

New event venue could be coming to Belmont (Continued from Page 1) By Alan Hodge alan@cfmedia.info
Belmont resident Deborah Baxa lives on a stunning 30+-acre piece of land right on Lake Wylie near the Hot Hole. She could sell some of it to developers for yet another subdivision, or keep it all to herself. But Baxa has what she believes is a higher and better use for the property- a new event venue she’s calling Camelot Meadows. Deborah’s husband, Lt. Col. Dr. Mark Baxa, passed away just a few years ago from brain cancer at the age of 59. He was an incredibly accomplished man who
among other things was a U.S. Navy and Air Force Reserves veteran, and medical director at what is now CaroMont Health. He was also passionate about working on and beautifying the property he and Deborah shared. Deborah says the concept for Camelot Meadows came to her as a way of honoring and remembering Mark’s love of their land and a desire to share its splendor with others. “I feel it’s important to share it with the community,” she said. “There are so many hidden gems on this property that most people are not even aware of.” A tour of the acres turned
up one really interesting feature- an enchanted bamboo forest. The bamboo growing there towers over 20 feet tall. Walking or riding through it on a trail Mark carved out is a unique and magical experience. Deborah is also sharing the bamboo for a good cause. “Once a year Bhutanese refugees come over from Charlotte and harvest the shoots,” she says. “Last year they harvested five hundred pounds which fed one hundred fifty people.” Another way that Baxa wants to help the Belmont area community is by having people with physical challenges come use her horses for equine riding therapy.

This is how the Camelot Meadows event barn will look when erected on the site. Photos by Legacy Post & Beam Another cool feature of the Baxa land is a creek with large boulders. The creek runs down to the lake and the view from the adjacent field is stunning. It’s in that very field that Baxa wants to build Camelot Meadows’ huge, 7,560 sq. ft. barn. Actually, the barn is built, but about 1,500 miles away. “It’s in Nebraska waiting to be brought here,” she said. The type of events that Baxa envisions for Camelot Meadows could include weddings, corporate events, arts and craft fairs, photo shoots, concerts, holiday parties, private parties of all types, etc. In addition to the event structure, Baxa also has plans for cabin to be built on a knoll beside the rocky creek overlooking the lake. So far Baxa has gotten letters of support for the project from the Gaston Regional Chamber, Belmont Mayor Charles Martin, the Mont-
cross Area Chamber of Commerce, Gaston County Travel and Tourism, to name a few. So, when will the project move from the planning stage to a physical reality? Seems there’s a bump in the road. Or lack of a road. The property is landlocked in a sense and Baxa needs road access to it from South Point Rd. “There are access issues I am still working on,” she said. In the meantime, Baxa is holding a series of concerts on the lake with the money benefiting local nonprofits.
The next one is set for August 9 for Girls on the Run, then September 13 for Holy Angels, and October 11 for Belmont Memorial Skate Park. The music starts at 6pm and winds down at 8pm. The address is 156 Lake Mist Dr., Belmont (Baxa’s house). For boaters it’s the Hot Hole area. As Baxa says- “This land is meant to be shared and appreciated by others and will always be a part of Mark’s legacy.” For more information visit www.camelotmeadowsevent.com.

Catawba Indian Nation breaks ground for a multimillion dollar casino by MICHAEL E. POWELL
The groundbreaking for the Catawba Nation Casino gets under way (on Wednesday, July 22) as nine men, representing the Nation and its leaders, the City of Kings Mountain, Cleveland County Commissioners, Delaware North, and Sky Boat Gaming ceremoniously get a shovelful of dirt to toss into a pile, signifying work is officially begun on the long-awaited casino. Left to right are: Wallace Cheves (Sky Boat Gaming); Butch Sanders (Catawba Nation); Jason Harris (Assistant Chief of the Catawba Nation); Sam Beck (Catawba Nation Councilman); Johnny Hutchins (Cleveland County Commissioner); E. Brian Hansberry (Gaming President, Delaware North); Rodrick Beck (Catawba Nation Secretary/Treasurer), Scott Neisler (Mayor, City of Kings Mountain); and Catawba Nations Chief William “Bill” Harris. Photos by Michael E. Powell but the casino continues to move forward, noted Chief Harris, in a March 2020 article in the Eagle. According to the Project History & Timeline handed out at the groundbreaking, the projected Introductory Phase, complete with 1,300 operational gaming devices is possibly summer of 2021. Kings Mountain Mayor Scott Neisler, who was one of the project leads, along with Cleveland County Commissioner Johnny Hutchins, was quoted on the handout as saying, “Finally, the Catawbas have the opportunity to perpetuate their culture as a meaningful elevation of their place in North American history. “Before today, this eightmile stretch of I-85 had little to offer to locals and tourists. With this project we will become the premier destination between Atlanta and Washington, DC, for entertainment.” Neisler said at the groundbreaking, “Today, we are standing on official Catawba Nation lands! This is historical Catawba land! We are all Americans, and we are in lockstep with them, and wish them well in the furthering of their culture. I want to thank Chief Harris and others of this Catawba Nation for having us as guests on their land.” Commissioner Hutchins
was quoted on the handout as saying, “Our steadfast partnership with the Catawba Indian Nation has brought us to this moment in time to celebrate their culture and their desire to improve the future of tribe members and those in Cleveland County and the region through jobs, tourism, and economic potential.” He added at the groundbreaking, “This (casino and its jobs) is going to be beneficial to us all.” In addition to Hutchins being there for the Cleve-
land County Commissioners, Chairperson Susan Allen was present as well, as was Delaware North’s Gaming President E. Brian Hansberry, and a host of dignitaries and others. Sheriff Alan Norman and the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Department provided security and direction for the event. Hansberry noted that Delaware North wants “to create a world-class operation here,” and that they were “glad to be working on this.” In closing, Chief Harris,

said, just before inviting everyone to the actual groundbreaking area, “This project will have a huge economic impact on this area!” Providing tribal music and prayers for the event, along with ceremonial drumming were Jason and Ronnie Beck. Recently representatives from the Catawba Indian Nation, located in Rock Hill, S.C., and the City of Kings Mountain, and from Cleveland County, met to break ground for the Catawba’s Casino Resort Project. The group of individuals met at 10:30 a.m., at the Catawba’s 16-acres of land set aside for the casino, just off Exit 5 on I-85, the actual address being 260 Dixon School Rd., Kings Mountain. In a Monday, July 20, media release from Tribal Administrator Elizabeth Harris, there was limited space available due to COVID-19 restrictions, and the expected mask and social distancing guidelines and rules were in place. Catawba Chief William “Bill” Harris, after brief introductions of all those who were invited to speak and take part in the auspicious occasion, said, “We are privileged to work with the Cleveland County Board of Commissioners and the City of Kings Mountain. We are also pleased to be working with Delaware North as well as Sky Boat Development.” Chief Harris spoke about the history of the Catawba Nation and the tribe’s close historical ties with first the English during the French and Indian War, then with the Colonial Americans, when they later took up arms against the British in the Battle of Kings Mountain. He spoke of the Catawba’s great King Hagler, who in the 1750s spoke about living in peace, love and friendship with all nations. King Hagler, or Nopkehee, was born about 1700, and died in 1763. He became Chief of the Catawba in 1754. “We, the Catawba Nation, were there to read the signs and warn the colonists of
British attacks,” Chief Harris said, as he continued on the history of the Catawba Nation. Chief Harris referenced how their nation has developed many partnerships over the many years, bringing it home by referring to the coming casino and its many job opportunities by saying, “Today, we celebrate the thousands of jobs that will be created; we celebrate the economic growth that will come about.” Regarding that economic growth: it is estimated that a total of $428.1 million will be realized as far as an annual economic impact is concerned. The breakdown is as follows: $308 million (once operational, in per year of direct economic activity and employment of an estimated 2,600 workers); $77.3 million (an additional per year in indirect impact through local purchases from local business); and another $42.8 million per year in induced impact from employer expenditures, according to information provided by London & Associates (February 2020). This same study projects that construction activity alone will generate $311 million, with a “total employment of 2,347 from direct, indirect, and induced effect”, as per that same media release. Harris continued, “Today the Catawba Nation wants to express it gratitude to Kings Mountain, Delaware North, Cleveland County, and Sky Boat, as well as others as this project unfolds.” Some of those others he talked about include U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham, Richard Burr, Tom Tillis, and Sen. Scott for their 2019 support that encouraged the request to accept the 16 acres of land into trust for the Catawbas. That decision is still being contested by the Cherokee Tribe

Dillard “Don” William Hyde Belmont - Dillard “Don” William Hyde, loving husband, father, and PopPop went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 1, 2020 at the age of 83. Don was a graduate of Belmont High School, Central Piedmont Community College and attended Charlotte College (now UNCC). After serving in the United States Army, Don worked at Celanese Corporation in Charlotte for 30 years. He volunteered his time with the
Athletic Department of his beloved Red Raiders at South Point High School where he and his wife, Nancy served for many years with the Big Red Booster Club. In addition to volunteering at SPHS, Don served on the Gaston County Parks and Recreation Board along with the Belmont Optimist Club. One of his greatest honors was being a mentor to many young people in the Belmont community. All those who knew him were touched by his generosity, graciousness, and loving spirit. He lived by the mantra “Give nothing of yourself to others and eventually there will be nothing worth giving.” Don was a long time member of both First Baptist Church and South Point Baptist Church in Belmont where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and youth recreation advocate. Don is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Nancy Buckner Hyde, two loving sons Kent (Cynthia) and Lee (Shelly), daughter Christy of Nashville, TN, and five beautiful granddaughters, Caro-

Get your affairs in order By Rev. Trent Rankin Salvation Church, Gastonia, NC salvationchurchnc.org pastortrent@salvationchurchnc.org
there has been recipes for new styles of burgers. With each time charring and searing on my set of stainless-steel pans, each burger is cooked to perShelton Fisher fection but at the price of a pan that has seen better days. As I flipped the patties, I reminisced back to the times when Maw Maw would occasionally make a burger in her pan. As much as I loved her, I never asked particularly for the Wonder Bread special. When it was on the menu it was a thick patty cooked in the six inch skillet and placed between two slices of loaf bread, saved by the grace of crinkle fries straight from the boiling hot grease from her vintage Fry Daddy deep fryer. God rest her soul, but it just wasn’t my favorite. It wasn’t until we got a recipe where I had to fry chicken for the first time that I decided to make my move. Perhaps it’s just me, but there is a different feeling you get when you deep fry something in a pan versus a deep fryer. Your oil is always fresh in the pan and it only makes the iron better each time you do it. The deep fryer is great, but you can only fry as much as your basket can hold. The pan just has a certain finesse to it that doesn’t compare. The first time frying was also in the stainless, and it was successful but I’m excited to compare it to the iron. The pan I bought is a 10.5-inch grill pan, to give my burgers the grill marks to seal their approval. I can’t wait to get it broken in and really make it mine, so be sure to grab issues of Banner News in the weeks to come because if there are two things I love about this place is sharing my experiences with my friends and neighbors and great food! I’ll be sure to let you know what’s cooking in the Fisher household!

At some point in life each of us start thinking about life insurance, wills, and our final wishes. We work to pay our homes off and strive to be debt free. We may even seek to make amends with someone we have been wronged by or have wronged. We call this “getting our affairs in order.” What we are doing is making plans and preparations for an uncertain future. This is true for our lives and should also be true for our relationship with God as well. In 2 Kings 20:1-11, Hezekiah the king of Judah became sick. He was visited by Isaiah the prophet, who told him that he would not recover, and he would die. God told Hezekiah to get his house in order as his death was near. Hezekiah prayed and wept. God heard his prayers and saw his tears. God added fifteen years to his life. He would survive. Hezekiah asked by what sign he would know God would heal him. Isaiah offered him a choice, either the shade on the sundial would go forward ten degrees, or backwards ten degrees. Hezekiah chose for the sundial to go backwards. In a great miracle, God move the time on the sundial back ten degrees.
God called on Hezekiah to get his affairs in order. We may not know the time of our departure, but it is great advice for us too. In this life, we Rev. Trent Tankin have no promise of another day. James 4:14 reminds us, “For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes” (ESV). We truly never know what the next day holds. Who could have predicted early this year, that we would be facing a worldwide pandemic? Hezekiah’s life changed in an instant, and so may ours. We never know about life, so we need to live every day to its fullest. I am sure Hezekiah lived every single day of his fifteen years. We need to live, truly live. We need to live for our families, live for our friends, but most of all, live for God. Take whatever time we have and live every moment of life. Not only should we live, but also leave a great legacy behind. Above all, make sure you settle your accounts and affairs before it is too late. If you have no relationship with Jesus, settle that today! Prepare for your future, no matter what it may be. Live this life well and leave complete. Leave this world ready for the next, with a great legacy of life, and ready to see Jesus!
By Shelton Fisher Technically it’s not a “fire” per say… more like a burner. I suppose it’s also an iron instead of multiple if you really think about it. What I’m getting at is not necessarily just a type of cooking tool, but a timeless practice that spans the generations with proper care. Just like writing in cursive, the art of cooking with cast iron is a classic method of preparing some of the best food that will ever bless your taste buds. After some trial and error with my regular pans, I broke down and decided to take the plunge for myself and purchase a cast iron pan of my own. As a child, I remember my parents having a set of two cast iron pans. The only thing I ever remember them being used for however is cornbread when my father made chili beans. Maw Maw also had a cast iron pan that she would cook a burger on every so often (we’ll get to that in a second). When I moved out and was on my own, I had one that I absolutely ruined for the simple truth that I was negligent with it and had no idea how to wash it. After washing dishes one day and finding the heavy, rusted hunk of metal in my sink, I swore to myself that I would never use cast iron again. Seasoning it made absolutely no sense to me. It had always been engrained in me that dirty dishes were nasty, so was I really expected to believe that there is this one gigantic pan that I can cook greasy foods in and leave it that way? THIS is the ONE pan that gets BETTER the dirtier it gets? Well… never say never my friends. Regrettably, in retrospect I think that I committed one of the Southern Deadly Sins and threw the pan out. I pray daily that Justin Wilson will forgive me, but I still haven’t gotten that GAR-awn-TEE! At any rate, Kimberly and I have been receiving our weekly dinner kits that have pre-portioned quantities of ingredients per recipe and each week

Our schools will work with families as much as possible to address circumstances such as siblings who may have a different last name – it makes sense for siblings to be on the same schedule. We have received a lot of questions about the reopening of schools. Below is information that we hope is helpful as you prepare for the new academic year. Planning continues Now that “Plan B” has been determined, our schools and central level departments are working on vari-

ous elements that relate to the operation of schools. It will take time over the next two weeks to finalize procedures and logistics. Again, we ask for your patience and understanding as we work diligently to put measures in place that provide for a healthy school environment while ensuring the delivery of quality instruction. It is important to point out that our Exceptional Children Department is working on plans to provide support for our students with special needs and their families. Additionally, our School Nutrition Department is working on plans to offer breakfast and lunch meals, and our Technology Department is developing plans to provide a computing device for every student. Safety is a priority The safety of our students and employees is a priority. Our schools will follow the health guidance provided by state and local officials to ensure that the school environment is as safe as it can be. It will be important for students and employees to adhere to social distancing guidelines as well as other health recommendations such as frequent hand washing, participating in temperature and wellness checks, staying at home if you are not feeling well, etc. Additionally, our schools will follow deep cleaning procedures, post proper signage, and make hand sanitizer available. Masks are required To help ensure the health and safety of everyone at school, students and employees will be required to wear a mask at school as well as on a school bus. The state plans to provide five cloth masks for students and teachers. We understand that “mask breaks” will be allowed during the school day when students are more than six feet apart. A face shield cannot be worn without a mask unless there is a medical exemption
from a physician. This information is based on the most recent guidance provided to school districts from the state. Bus transportation Because of social distancing requirements and capacity limits on school buses, we know that we will need additional routes to provide bus transportation as only one student is allowed per seat. We will use all of our school buses to complete elementary school routes first and then use the buses to complete middle school and high school routes. This creates the need for staggered start and end times for the school day (as much as an hour difference is possible). Buses will be sanitized between routes. Our schools will be contacting families to determine which students plan to ride a school bus. This will help our schools and Transportation Department with creating bus routes, schedules, etc. Gaston County Virtual Academy Parents who have concerns about sending their child(ren) to school for inperson instruction are encouraged to consider the Gaston County Virtual Academy as an alternative. Students who enroll in the Virtual Academy will be able to stay connected to their home school, and students who are in a school choice program will retain their place at their choice school. It is our hope that students enrolling in the Virtual Academy will make the commitment to remain in the Virtual Academy for at least the fall semester. The Virtual Academy will host a series of online information sessions next week (July 27-30). During the sessions, parents will learn more about the Virtual Academy and be able to submit questions. Registration for the information sessions as well as a “Frequently Asked Questions” section will be avail-
able on the Virtual Academy webpage. Click here for the link. Student transfers and residence affidavits Our schools as well as our Student Assignment Office are prepared to assist families with enrollment. Student transfers that were in place last school year (2019-2020) will remain in place for the new school year (2020-2021). This will help to maintain a familiar and consistent school environment for students. Additionally, parents/guardians do not have to renew or submit a new residence affidavit for 2020-2021. If you have questions about student enrollment, please contact your child’s school or call the Student Assignment Office, (704) 710-7284. Fall sports The North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) has delayed the start of the fall sports season until September 1. Workouts for our high school athletes have been delayed until August 10. We intend to offer fall sports for our high schools and middle schools, but a final decision has not been made – it will depend on guidance from the NCHSAA and current coronavirus data. We will share more information about athletics once it is available. Please know that as we continue to prepare for the first day of school on Monday, August 17, we will provide more information to you. Thank you for your commitment to Gaston County Schools. We are proud to have your child(ren) in our school family, and we look forward to working with you during the upcoming academic year. Sincerely, Jeffrey Booker, Ed.D. Superintendent of Schools
