Six all-star players from Compact and KMHS to be inducted into KM Hall of Fame May 6

The annual Kings Mountain Sports Hall of Fame and induction ceremony will be held Saturday, May 6 at 6 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church.

This year’s inductees include Miles Boyd, Chris Henson, Alex Goff, Cedrick Thompson, Tim Hines and Suzette Feemster. All were stars in high school and some had good college careers.

Miles Boyd was the most valuable player on the 1964 Compact High School football and basketball teams. He was the first quarterback of the Compact program which started under the late coach John Blalock, who is also in the Hall of Fame.

As a basketball standout, he scored a career high 1,289 points for the Cobras and led them deep into the state playoffs.

Chris Henson was All-Conference in cross country, soccer, wrestling and baseball at KMHS. He was the conference most valuable player in cross country and wrestling, and for several years held the school records for the most wins as a wrestler in a single season. He was a three-year starter and standout on a state championship KMHS baseball team which was coached by the late Bruce Clark who is also a member of the Hall of Fame. He was a three-year starter in baseball at Wingate University and later coached at UNC Pembroke and East Tennessee State University.

Alex Goff was a fourtime Player of the Year in golf at KMHS. He was the Western North Carolina champion in 2015 and state runner up in 2018 when he had an average of 68.5 per match. He earned a full golf scholarship to the University of Kentucky where he started 16 matches and was All-Southeastern Conference Academic all four years. He had 12 top 20 finishes in conference play and a career stroke average of 72.4.

Cedric Thompson also played several sports at KMHS but specialized as a running back and wide receiver in football. His 963 receiving yards in 2010 set a new school record. He was Conference Player of the Year and played in the East-
