In the play, Peter Pakowski is sure that this Christmas is going to be the most miserable one of his
life. Money is tight, so he knows Old Saint Nick won’t be bringing him the gifts that he wants, and what’s more, he is going to have to spend Christmas with his crazy cousin, Bertram! So, when Peter’s little sister convinces him to make a wish on a special Christmas star, he doesn’t have high hopes. But when a star fairy that only he can see appears in his living room, things liven up quickly! With an invisible fairy guest and three wishes that he must use before Christmas is over, Peter’s holiday celebrations with his large family are looking to be much more interesting than he thought!

So it shouldn’t seem strange to understand that our Creator designed for each of us to have specific assignments during our life spans and then equips us and enables us to complete our assignments within our time here on earth and to a satisfactory quality according to the Assigner.

It had been Jesus’ assignment since before Genesis 1:1; to be the One who would bear our punishment to pay in full our sin debt to our Holy God. A tough assignment to be sure and one that only He could perform and He did so once and for all to deliver all who will repent and put their faith and trust in Him out of obedience to God the Father and matchless love for you and me and all humanity; past, present, and future, if we have one.

thing that creepeth upon the earth.” Now that seems like a mighty tall assignment to me. God told Jeremiah (Jeremiah 1:5) that even while He was still in the womb, He had ordained him to be “a prophet unto the nations.” God assigned Noah the task of building an ark; Moses was to lead God’s people out of Egypt to the Promised Land, David got the task of slaying Goliath, and on and on the assignments have been doled out and the process is still in play today. You and I have preordained assignments according to Ephesians 2:10, “For we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” Even “Christ Jesus came into the

Now that’s a word we should all be familiar with - assignment. Whether it was chores as a kid, school work for all those many years, orders in the military, designated tasks by our boss, and on and on. Most likely for all our lives on a regular basis, all of us have had someone giving us assignments. Why, we even give ourselves assignments sometime. And someone always expects us to carry out our assignments and usually

ator? And yet, many who even consider themselves to be His children because they go to church or give to the poor or try to live a moral life make no effort to discover their assignment, let alone to complete it or at least try. Important you ask? Jesus said, “Not everyone who says to Me. “Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” (Matthew 7:21) Our assignments begin with repentance and placing our faith in Christ’s finished work on the cross, His death and resurrection. Then when we meet Him in glory, we can long to hear, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” This article is part of my assignment. What’s yours?

Even when working on location, most of Bowers’ paintings are completed in less than two hours. Bowers uses his commercial art training to accurately draw the foundation of the painting, then he quickly captures the feeling and atmosphere of the scene. An accomplished artist, Bowers takes great satisfaction in mixing colors on his palette to match what nature presents in front of him.

1987 PORSCHE. 944 Porsche 944 classic with original alloy wheels. Re-painted in 2018 with original color. Nicely equipped with power steering, power brakes, power windows, a removable sunroof. Well maintained and garage kept with just two owners who didn’t drive it much (father and son) approx 38,000 miles (honest estimate since odometer stopped at 26,800). Burgundy leather original bucket interior except for modern stereo with CD and AUX input. 5 speed manual, not turbo. The odometer, fuel gage, and rear wiper stopped being consistent a long time ago, but hey it’s a 35 year old car. Replace AC compressor if you want air but I never needed it. Great little take a test drive Asheville

The leading cause of accidental releases of gas is due to damage of a below ground line by someone performing excavation or earth moving. The “ONE-CALL” system was setup to help prevent this hazard. If you dig, please contact NC One-Call Center toll-free at 811 or log on to the website http://www.nc811.org to request a location of underground utilities. Assistant City Manager / Energy Services
City of Kings Mountain Karen Tucker, City Clerk KMH (09/14/22)
NickSincerely,Hendricks Jr.
Kings Mountain’s Natural gas pipelines quietly, reliably and efficiently deliver natural gas throughout the City for domestic and industrial use. As part of the greater industry’s 2.3 million miles of natural gas and liquid pipelines, Kings Mountain operates natural gas distribution and transmission pipelines that safely deliver large quantities of energy to fuel the economy and keep us warm every day. Pipelines are the safest and most cost effective way of delivering energy in existence. The City of Kings Mountain would like to inform residents about the accident prevention efforts that are undertaken to maintain the excellent pipeline safety record of the industry. Kings Mountain inspects mains and services that are excavated as well as monitors above-ground piping for corrosion. We apply and monitor corrosion prevention measures to prevent steel from deteriorating below ground and regularly patrol surface conditions for hazards to the pipelines. We also use leak detection equipment that can detect the tiniest quantity of gas to determine whether a leak may exist below ground. Equipment is inspected and maintained regularly as well, including below ground emergency valves.
The City of Kings Mountain owns and operates a natural gas system that provides service to industrial, commercial, and residential customers in and around the city limits of Kings Mountain for use in manufacturing, space heating, water heating, and cooking.

In its ‘natural’ state, natural gas is colorless and odorless. The natural gas received by the City of Kings Mountain for its distribution system is mixed with an odorant, so it is easier to recognize a natural gas pipeline release. The odorant added to the natural gas gives the gas a distinctive smell, often described as “rotten egg”. The City monitors the existence of this odorant to ensure its presence.

Accidental releases of gas do occasionally occur, and in addition to the distinctive smell, other indications of a release may be a hissing sound, roaring sound, or blowing of dirt or dust. Persistent bubbles in water or pools of liquid with possible bubbling can also indicate a pipeline leak. If you smell, see or hear any indications of a possible natural gas leak, please call the City of Kings Mountain’s Natural Gas Division at 704-734-4516 or emergency officials at 911 immediately.
