Wayne Art Center is very proud to announce the 22nd celebration of Craft Forms. Craft Forms 2016, the International Juried Exhibition of Contemporary Fine Craft, will be on display at the Wayne Art Center from December 2, 2016 - January 28, 2017. This eagerly anticipated exhibition, celebrating its 22nd year, is dedicated to enhancing the public’s awareness of fine contemporary craft while providing a venue for established and emerging artists to share their creative endeavors. Craft Forms is internationally recognized as one of the premier contemporary craft exhibitions. The finest works of ceramics, wood, fiber, metal, glass, mixed medium, and 3D printing are featured, supporting the center’s mission of expanding the public’s awareness of fine contemporary crafts, and significantly benefiting all educational and outreach programs for children and adults. One of the highest museum quality craft exhibitions in the United States, Craft Forms consistently draws upward of 5,000 visitors during its two-month exhibition. More than 250 guests, including art collectors, supporters of the Wayne Art Center, and the Craft Forms 2016 juror and artists, will celebrate the opening of this annual exhibition and companion show at the Craft Forms Preview Party, on Friday, December 2, from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. The exhibitions and special events continue to attract local, regional, national, and international visitors throughout the duration of the show. Craft Forms’ status as a fine craft exhibition grows each year in large part due to the expertise of the acclaimed jurors. This year Wayne Art Center is honored to welcome Stefano Catalani, Director of Art, 14

Craft & Design, Bellevue Arts Museum, Bellevue, WA. A curator for over 20 exhibitions that he conceived and organized, nominator and juror for numerous contemporary art awards, writer and contributor to over nine exhibition catalogs, and respected lecturer, Mr. Catalani selected 89 artists with a collection of 101 cutting edge and noteworthy craft pieces from approximate 400 artwork submissions by hundreds of artists from around the world. Wayne Art Center is pleased to continue the significantly increased artist award monies in the amount of $8,000 which will be presented by Catalani at the Preview Party on Friday, December 2. The Wayne Art Center is equally excited to present this year’s companion show, Making Marks, curated by Mi-Kyoung Lee, Program Director of Craft + Material Studies at The University of the Arts. Making Marks will run concurrently with Craft Forms and will feature over 20 works by 15 invitational fibers and textile artists who have been working on various methods and processes in the medium to express their inner voice. Each artist addresses his or her own way of creating marks of color, line, texture, image,
pattern, shadow, space, and even sounds through the timeless investigation in the process. Their works examine and manifest the beauty of repetition and its metaphor of strength. The Wayne Art Center is tremendously grateful to the sponsors and patrons for their generosity and support. Without the continual support of the community, the center would not be able to make the positive impact of art on so many individual’s lives. A special thank you is recognized to West Laurel Hill, Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies, and First Priority Bank. CCL
