To provide information to our own communities about the plight of refugees and help to co-ordinate the efforts of all who wish to assist them. To establish a programme to provide short-term respite and sanctuary for refugees in the peaceful countryside in and around the Brecon Beacons National Park. Hiraeth Hope Over the centuries, our rich and varied community has welcomed newcomers to our shores. We have strong family values, a love of the land and a local tradition of pacifism, justice and humanity. The more recent displacement of millions of our fellow men, women and children from their homes around the world, has upset many of us and spurred us into action. Hiraeth Hope or Hiraeth a Gobaith emerged and our informal collective of men, women and children offer refugees, who have lost their home, through war or tyranny, a warm welcome amongst our families and in our homes. We offer short holidays or breaks where you will be well looked after by your hosts and community. All your costs will be covered by our fund. We are working towards providing new homes for those that would want to join us in our rural setting. We may also as funds permit donate money to other agencies that help refugees. If you are a refugee needing a short holiday, one still overseas looking for a home in rural Wales, or a local person wanting to help in some way, then please do contact us

Skanda Vale is a multi-faith ashram (or monastery) near Carmarthen in Wales. It was founded on pure Sanathana Dharma; the timeless consciousness of God, as taught by Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita. We believe that all religions stem from, and merge into the one Reality; God is One, though His forms are many. The ashram was established here in Wales in 1973, though our roots can be traced back to Sri Lanka, for that is where our founder, Guru Sri Subramanium was born.
